I've only got four guitars, but they all have EMGs. Ltd H-1001 (Eb standard) and Ltd H-500 (E standard) - 85/60A or EMG ALX (ABQ booster / EQ + H2B pickup) / H2N; I had one set, and then the other. I swap every year and a half to two years when I get bored. Fender Player Strat (getting this soon; Eb standard) - I plan on putting a DG20 in this guitar, with a different pickguard and swapping out the bridge for an SLV Squier CV70 Strat (E standard) - I bought an EMG Custom Shop pickguard on Reverb that came with 3 EMG SLVs. I am swapping out the middle for an SA from the DG20. I am also swapping out the tone controls so that I can have an EXG and SPC in their place. I really disagree with EMG when it comes to how to set the pickup height. They say to "crank them as close to the strings as possible without getting the string buzzing against the pickups," essentially. Instead, I set them as you would any other pickup. Guitar brands have slightly different suggestions for pickup height, but I go with that and then play with the pickups a bit. Typically, I lower them a smidge or two.

I'm about to put a Lukather set in my Fender Japan ST62-FR strat.

Jon this video was a blowout! The demo completely rocked. I’m humbled by your collection. There are some unique pieces followed by some great stories. This might be my favorite video just for the subject matter. My first electric as well had EMGs. Thank you for sharing your guitars and opinions! Have you tried the Fishman Fluences in an electric guitar yet? I also am fortunate to have found a Strat and LTD single cut with the classic versions installed. Would love to hear you play those in the mix. And then get your opinions on the different voicings they offer. It’s a unique technology but personally have no interest in the “modern” ones. Hi Jon, I'm thinking about getting the VG20 set with the SPC control. Do you have any other videos where you use this guitar? I'm most curious to hear the bridge pickup with the SPC activated. You only used that guitar for a short time in this video, but would like to hear more. Thanks!
