I am demoing the EMG Tele T pickups with the SPC midboost and comparing them with another tele with Fender N3 and Alalogman BigTee Pickups.

Awesome playing! Awesome video! Don’t worry about the idiots with negative comments. I play with overdrive too and appreciate being able to hear these pups with an overdriven tone. Thanks

You got some chops no wonder you teach too. That mid boost sounds cool too.

I love your playing, your tone and attack!!! Both pups sets are awesome. I’d want to have two Tele’s with different pups systems. It’s something I can work towards. I have been playing the same set of EMG’s in my ‘72 Telecaster since 1985. They still work great although I had to change the soldered wiring harness twice. I’ve just figured out how to convert them to work on a RedActive GuitarFetish solderless wiring kit I had kicking around. Hoping it will last at least 10 years. We’ll see? BTW Great Video!!! Thank you and I’ll keep watching.

I really liked the EMGs and the mid boost is great for the bridge pickup too. I have just bought that exact setup used on reverb. I don't even have the tele yet but it's coming LOL.Did you replace the tone control with the FPC? I am mainly a bassplayer and have EMG s on many of my basses because I dont like the single coil hum. I'm sure I'll be happy with the EMGs

EMG T or EMG TC has the boost control? That boost is sweet.. Help me out. What Model EMGs are you using in your Tele?
@jsnowdendavies5 жыл бұрын
Very expressive and lyrical playing, I think the EMGs sound great!
@jsnowdendavies5 жыл бұрын
n.b. I can't see the TC set video so I guess they went back to the store? Did you go back to passive pickups in the end?

I have a hobby tele that’s been around the block, been thinking of putting these in it.

The natural reverb in your room distorts the tone of the pickups. They sound like they have a sharper and tighter attack compared to the fender. Also, I think the note and sustain have different characteristics.

Great playing my man!! How versatile would you say the emg t set is? Good clean sound?

What if you have the copper shielding already installed on the tele will it effect the emgs? or will it have to be removed? Thanks great playing man.

Try the X set or 52 set and use the 24 volt mod pack. I have the X set with the 24 volt mod and its the best tone I've ever had come from me. I do typically play with higher gain though, but I really like the cleans when I do go there.

EMGs seem to have sizzly top end which, to me, sounds unpleasant. Trying to find new pups for my tele. Think I'm gonna go with BKP Blackguard Flat 50s.

i agree

It's a bit difficult to hear the tone when 40% of the sound picked up on the camera microphone is directly from the raw strings rather than the pup + amp. Really nice playing though.

For sensitive details in such an equipment shootout, you should cut out the reverb completely. Otherwise very nice presentation.
@goldlines Жыл бұрын
agreed. It's drenched in reverb and quite hard to judge the tone of the pickups

My vote is the EMG's. And the EMG mid boost sounds great too. The other ones might be good for chickn' pickin' , or something thin like that.
@loopie0074 жыл бұрын
I think the mic ruins this comparison. All I hear is an over driven mic in a small room.

Playing is great. Less reverb would better show clarity.

I am NOT a fan of the N3 pups at all. I think they are dull and lifeless. I put a set of '68 Teles from Monty's Guitars in the UK in my 2014 Tele Elite for less than $300. It took a few weeks to get them to the US but they were worth the wait. I love the bridge pup but the neck pup isn't blowing my mind. It's nice but not quite what I was looking for. But he has several different Tele pups. I've heard the Danish Pete neck pup is awesome but haven't heard it live yet. I might try a Strat Fat 50's neck pup instead of the Tele neck pup. Or maybe a neck pup from Ron Ellis or Fralin. The Ellis pups are excellent but fairly expensive....like $350 per pup. I also have a Squier Tele that I put Custom Shop Texas Specials in. That is a nice sounding Texas blues type of Tele.

N4 also good 🎊

I really don't like those N3s at all - or the earlier ones either. Don't know how Fender stacked those but they seem to have managed to drain the pups of all character. The EMGs are like a real secret - or players get snobby about active stuff.

cannot tell a thing with all the distortion and reverb. Even the "clean" tone is distorted.
@JillandKevin4 жыл бұрын
Why don't you review what the PICKUPS sound like? You've showed us what they sound like thru a Tubescreamer, but jumped right over the actual clean tones! Sadly, of no help to me at all. It's seriously difficult to find reviews or comparisons without a bunch of effects these days!

Perhaps you can be the first! Feel free to make videos however way you w we want. As for me, I am demonstrating the actual way I use the pickup- which I get to do because it my video and my channel. But feel free to make them the way you wanted!

I have no idea why you're demoing pickups with distortion on, there's no freaking way to tell what the pickups sound like unless you play them clean! C'mon dude, you seem like a smart guy.
