Demonstrating the HMV Model IXa "Sheraton" Tabletop Gramophone made C 1910 - 1912

This machine came to me with a collection of machines and was overlooked when i sold off the others and i'm delighted it was ! it's Model IXa of C 1910 = - 1912 a rare model in the Sheraton style with Boxwood stringing on all 4 sides and the lid - it cleaned up really well, it plays "hotel Pimlico" Sung by peter Dawson and with an expert 4 spring soundbox it playes the "teddy Bear's Picnick" Played by Alfredo Campoli

+Phonoboy My attitude is - if it's scraped off it gone forever ! and it's almost impossible to replicate with modern varnishes

It looks very much like my Victor VV IX from 1922, though a bit nicer. (Also, mine doesn't have the lid.) Was this an import for Gramophone from Victor? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q6mSlJh_yLClkX0.html This was one of my first efforts, including a look at the motor. I had messed up the speed and had to look hard to figure out what I was doing wrong! After lubricating, and adjusting the speed, its Hoagy Carmichael at about 9 and a half minutes in...

+Robert Gardner It's the second version of this type of machine and but they kept the general style going well into the 1920's, the Horn is a Victor discard which ended up with G & T - very interesting video
