I’m glad Leason is a big dude and not a shutterbug in size or he might’ve had a eulogy written today. That hit was absolutely insane and this kid Lilleberg has been impressive as all get out in a very short tenure in the NHL thus far!

Gotta say this helped the lighting immensely, especially a few shifts later with Kuch throwing the body. Hard hit and damn Lillerberg is making a huge impact for the lightning

Exactly, this was the spark they needed but the fact that Kuch dumped Fowler soon after was when you could see that the lightning woke up a bit

That hit changed the entire game. Tampa finally started rolling after that and never gave momentum up the rest of the game. 3 rookies sent back to Syracuse today, but he stayed up. Good feeling he's gonna stay up in Tampa if he performs like this every night.

Emil Lilleberg is 6'2" (188cm) and pretty thin 185lbs (84kg) for his height . Brett Leason 6'5" (196cm) 225 lbs (102kg) so that was a perfect hit from Emil. But as always, skate with head up.... then he would have seen it coming.

This is atrocious for chemistry and for a locker room. Doesn't matter if its a dirty hit or a ckean hit. If anyone hits your teammate like this, you HAVE to defend him.

Charging in a straight line up the ice, along the boards, with his head down, like an uncoached high school kid. If he hasn’t learned how to protect himself by now, he won’t be around long.

Exactly. No teammates open, your’e skating along the boards with a wall of defenders at the blue line... If he had been looking up when skating through the neutral zone he’d have seen he should just dump the puck and chase it in a situation like that.

Big hard and legal hit. I’m glad the other guys didn’t jump him after the hit! Legal hits, no matter how bad they might look, don’t deserve getting jumped by 4 opposing players. Good for the Ducks and I hope homie is ok.

If anyone hits your teammate that hard it doesn't matter if it was a clean legal hit or not you go after that guy end of. The ducks are so soft they let the lightning flatten a guy and then they have a nice little chat, no. You take the other guys teeth out.

That's ridiculous. He basically got a concussion, which means a minor brain injury (and that can result in a major injury if it happens a few more times) - no toughness can protect you from that.

I’m a Ducks fan and that’s a great hit. These youngsters need to learn how to play a physical game before they can win in this league. That’s another loss, but a great example of what vets like Gudas have been trying to teach them. Lesson learned the hard way for sure.

Seeing more and more of these young players skating with their head down thinking that no one will hit them. Welcome to the NHL. I don’t want to see dirty hits that injure players, but hits like this can really change the momentum for a team. Wish more teams would do it.

Emil Lilleberg is a kid, made his NHL debut in January. From Norway, played in the SHL in Sweden before coming here. Brett Leason is a young guy who has become somewhat of a journeyman who bounces between the AHL and NHL

What Watson does there at the bench is exactly why he's on the team. Doesn't have to say anything, but just put himself in the area. He's probably telling that kid to keep doing exactly what he's doing and I'll back you up. Those little things go so unnoticed in todays game.

I love that big hits are back. Lots of guys are getting caught with their heads down, this type of hitting wasn't as common for a long while so guys aren't ready for it, especially the younger players.

@@MisterCaution Fly out of position? He's a defender... He defended the zone entry by eliminating his man. He may have conceded a scoring chance, but that's on the rest of the team. Lilleberg made the correct decision. Leason just put on his blinders and went straight ahead.

Big hits are fun, yes, but there is a reason players like Lilleberg and Trouba are able to do this kind of damage-because they aren’t where they are supposed to be while out headhunting for unsuspecting puckcarriers in the neutral zone.

@@curtisb5978 “blindside”? My man, he had an entire line to line to see the hit developing, he just didn’t lift his head. That’s what is called a good learning experience. No, the other team doesn’t think you’re tough when one of your teammates comes up to push and shove like a little sissy after a good hit. You know how you show them you’re tough? You hit them solidly back and win the game.
