If they need to wear them then whatever, but wear them all the time so they don't spend 5 minutes putting them on before they even get on the ice.

@@theouter_banks7260From when the doors opened to the first step on the ice it was 23 seconds. Pretty damn good imo. Be thankful these players have paramedics on standby every game. Most people in the real world have hour long waits for an ambulance to arrive.

@@Deenaziamazinjg14 watch his left leg pushes the guys legs forward as his upper body pushes him backward. You can do the same thing when getting hit too. Used to do it all the time when I played, never got a penalty because it's a sneaky dirty.

Also, it's one thing if someone is seizing in regular clothes. Those skates could've caused even worse problems. It took far too long to get to him. It appears that once they finally arrived, they were taking the necessary precautions. I commend them for that for sure.

In this case, however, the paramedics were never going to be part of the patient care - there was already a team physician (doctor) and trainers tending to the patient prior to the paramedics' arrival. They had to walk approximately 32 meters - the average person walks 30 meters in 20 seconds; this is assuming flat, paved ground with no obstacles or dangers. At face value, the medics took 33 seconds to reach the patient. That is 13 seconds longer than the average person. HOWEVER, they are on ICE AND they are pushing/pulling a stretcher with gear on top of it. In addition to their response time being within a reasonable time frame, they weren't there for PATIENT CARE - the patient had already gone through the seizure with other medical staff (who were less than 3 feet away) on site. The medics were for TRANSPORTATION only.

Paramedics weren't moving urgently because the team doctor was already tending to the player. I will agree they got going really slowly but them being hasteful could've possibly made things worse. If they're supposed to be the first ones to the player, they would not be required to wear all that gear. The training staff hops over the boards from behind the bench and I promise they're more suited for that situation than the paramedics

Would you think the same way of a firefighter who spent 30 seconds putting on their helmet before going into a fire? "What if he had been seriously cut?" You have a doctor on scene, and you have trainers on scene. All of which are medically trained to handle emergencies. All of which would be the first on scene in this kind of situation, so they would be the ones to begin treatment. "I hope they improve on this for everyone's safety." Improve on... what, exactly?
