Emily is a two-year old Italian Greyhound. She was surrendered to Italian Greyhound Rescue the day after Christmas 2009. Extremely thin and afraid, her first days in rescue were a bit traumatic for her. But soon she began to thrive in her new healthy and loving environment. Her story has a very happy ending, thanks to Italian Greyhound Rescue.
I have been asked many times about the legged coats. I purchased them from Houndz in the Hood. I highly recommend these for the Italian Greyhound. They wash well and last a long time. www.houndzinthehood.com/itgrcl...

Dogs are the most loyal creatures in the world. They are pure, they don't care if you're rich or poor, good looking or not. You treat them well and they love you forever. Every dog deserves a loving home free of abuse and neglect.

Its heartbreaking to see people abuse an inicent animal, especially Whippets. They are very compationate ,loyal and loving. I have 2 Whippets and they are my kids. I love them more than my life. Its so beautiful how happy she is now. I know Greyhounds and Whippets to me the best dogs because the grace, gentleness and love they give you . God bless you

I watched this a couple of weeks ago and have been brought to tears again...this is one of the BEST videos I have EVER seen. God Bless you ( the Foster Daddy) for the LOVE you have given to this beautiful precious little girl. I have 2 IG rescues from puppy mills and have adopted many ex racing greyhounds in the past 22 years. There is NOTHING like these precious gifts from God. No human could EVER compare to this:)

these dogs can make me cry.. they are so happy and compationate they must be the best dog for a frien. i want to love one so bad. wish in had aThousand dollars so i couldbhave a girl one.

You are all awesome. We drove a 10 our round trip from Vegas to Salt Lake City to get our boy Nino. He was 10 months old, had mange, giardia, and was afraid of everybody. took 18 months to bring him out of his shell. If you want to see him, do a youtube search for Why I Love Italian Greyhounds II. Thank you. I don't know if you saw the tribute video I posted, but we lost Nino to bone cancer in December. It was heartbreaking. We knew he would be the one to go first, with all his health issues. We didn't think it would be at age 8. I figured he had another 3-4 years. We miss him.

It was a beautiful tribute. A perfect way to remember him. He was super special. The movies really showed his personality, which was so beautifully impish and magical. I just about lost it towards the end when you asked people to adopt. Very powerful message and a great way to honor Nino's memory. I'm so sorry for your loss. You must miss him terribly.

Watching this, my eyes welled up: I miss my Italian Greyhounds. We had nine at one stage (five pups), and three for 17 years each.... R.I.P, Tigger, Velvet and Pixie. And good on your Rescue operation for looking after these delicate, characterful, and loving sprites.

Poor baby .. I would stay home to take care of her .. how could any one mistreat such lovable creatures .. makes me so sad 😭 ..so happy she’s doing so much better 💙😊 by the end I am crying lol

I don't know how you can let them go afterwards, I'd be knee deep in greyhounds if I tried to foster any of them. But thanks for doing so, and all the other foster moms and dads out there.

It's about thinking of the well being of the animal, if you think about wild animal rehabilitation it might seem easier to understand, you take care of the dog, bring it back to health and prepare him to go where he belongs

Emily's story does continue. The couple that adopted her loved her very much and brushed her teeth twice per day. However something went wrong and they tearfully gave her back to rescue. But not for long. Adorable little Emily, with pearly white teeth, was once again adopted and she has a new wonderful family. I'm sorry I don't have a Part II movie to show her marvelous life. Thanks to Italian Greyhound Rescue Foundation we are always here to help Emily and other IGs in need of Rescue.

What went wrong with Emily's first adopters?. She is adorable and I wish she had stayed with the Foster carers. Emily adored the Man but I hope this time she is in her loving forever home.

Best thing I have ever watched on KZfaq, simple as that! As a dog lover and even more so as a Greyhound lover, it is fantastic to see these animals who are not always treated the way they should get the life they deserve. I like to think that's what I did with my Lurcher and hope to do again, videos like this will get others to do the same. Thank you.

We have stayed in touch and we are happy to say that Emily is thriving in her new home. She gets her teeth brushed every day. Her teeth are so white! She is very well cared for and loved.

Great video! She looks and acts alot like our young female...Lily. She does the "paws up" smacking action also...hilarious. Glad to see you help/foster this sweet dog and very thrilled to see her adopted by a new family.

its amazing how these dogs can rebound from such horrific neglect and abuse. We also have an iggy rescue from a puppy mill. Isnt it interesting how you can rescue them once and then they rescue you many times over, as has our charming lil doggy sugar. This video is one of the best i have ever seen, ty!

The Last image is so sad, as you two were her rescuers; when she looks back, it represents the past she had, becoming a memory to a changed present, as she moves to a new family.

How anyone could own an Iggy and not be loving and nurturing towards the dog is beyond me. They're made out of pure love and affection. Great job on the rescue! I did have to rehome my Iggy recently because my whippet was picking on him. He's with a family I know so I still get to visit him regularly. He gets three times the love now!

Emily is not only cute, but she has the prettiest grey eyes on a dog! (Gray eyes are rare on dogs, BTW.) I now know where this breed of regal dogs gets it's namesake from. Congrats on saving one of these gorgeous, model-thin miniature greyhounds. ;D

AWwwwwwwwwwwwwww, that poor girl!!!!! She is in so much emotional distress. I'm so glad you all rescued her. She is adorable and a little sweetheart!!! These dogs are the biggest lovers on the planet. They're enthusiastic about everything! LOL! I met a couple and fell in love with them.

You guys are awesome. We adopted our boy Duke and he was just as skinny when we got him. He wasn't afraid or stressed at all though, he absolutely loved everyone (and still does) which made it so heartbreaking that anyone could have let him get into such bad shape. You folks obviously care about your pups really well and you definitely picked a winner in little Emily! That video made my day.

She's a lovely dog. So happy that she found kindness in her life. Just one thing, though. That big disc on her collar looked like it was hitting her as she ran. Why so large and can't she get a smaller one? 🙂♥️

It's true, but think of how many lives fostering can save. In the end it's worth it, and they made sure she went to the right family.

My mum used to foster ex-racing greyhounds, and now fosters cats. She gets asked a lot why she doesn't keep them or if it is hard to let them go, and her answer is that she doesn't find it hard because she is doing it for them not herself, and if she kept them she could only help a limited number. When she fosters she can help many more and each one that stays with her gets to spend the time they wait for a forever family in a home instead of a shelter, and it also frees up space at the shelter for another animal that might otherwise be turned away due to limited space. I am still amazed at how she can do it. All that said, it is still nice to see when someone decides they are keeping a foster- a few weeks ago I was at a sighthound coat store with my whippet and a couple were there with a rescue greyhound, they had just called the organisation that morning to let them know they couldn't part with her and she would be joining their family. They hadn't even done the paperwork yet and were already out buying her a new wardrobe of winter coats! Warms the heart

Actually they adapt extremely quickly to their new home and loving family. It’s human nature and not dog nature to think about the past.
