He didn’t actually kill any cats, but the line did come from real life. There was a stray kitten he was taking care of, and this bully he outran and kept from stealing something off him, saw the kitten and him with it. Next day, Em found its’ head in the mailbox 😫😢

Columbine - April 20, 1999 MMLP release May 23, 2000 Just a reminder of how brutal that scheme was when dropped. It was barely more than 13 months. I was 20 on MMLP release date when I bought it and it's still my favorite album of all time 22 years later.

I don't think most people, especially younger people or those who just starting checking out MMLP and SSLP, how incredibly brutal and ballsy it was to do the Columbine lyrics. If you think people are sensitive to it now just imagine the reaction to this. This album was released less than a year after the shootings. Wrap your head around that.

What a lot of people (and even rappers today) don’t put enough emphasis on is the way Em and well most old school rappers use of affliction and tonal change. It’s not simply cadence and flow of riding the beat but that tonal change is MASSIVE. The guys today all sound monotone as fuck. Even good MC’s are guilty of it today

I come back to watch this a couple times a week just to watch you trying to prepare during the 3rd chorus for the Columbine section and then the reaction of physical pain at the end of it. It's the best.

I didn't make this connection right away, mostly cuz I hadn't watched UFC in years. But the sickest thing about Em's "Caterpillar" verse, in my opinion. Is the extra "hidden bar" during the Anderson Silva scheme, and that's the fact that Silva's nickname in the UFC was "The Spider" referencing the whole insect theme of the track💯👌🔥💪✊🍻
