This is one of the realest songs I’ve ever heard. I like how Em didn’t hold back on Dre and their relationship. They always put themselves out there to help us relate and to be completely open. This was my first time seeing the video and damn Dre was swole af!

Dre said in an interview that Em wrote the whole song and just gave it to him. Dre was going through a really dark period after losing both his son and Easy... Em was trying to pull him out of the dark

@@pattacconethe watcher is the dre vibe and em wrote it 😂. Dre doesn't have a vibe, he openly doesn't write his raps. He has the voice and the production but not the pen. What he means by the whole song is em did everything, dre just had to lay the verse.

The “You’re either gonna wanna fight me or hug me” line is so underrated. Eminem is basically saying that he’s about to say whatever he has to say to light a fire under Dre to get him back in the game. And that it’s either gonna seriously piss him off or he’s going to appreciate the intent behind it. Cause that’s how much he believes in Dre.

@@curtayars7344 💯 Curt! I say this all the time! I get why people might prefer a certain style of Em’s music, or not enjoy his music as it’s all about personal preference. But how they can give him a hard time as a person or say he is homophobic, racist, violent, stealing from ‘black’ culture etc truly baffles me! You only have to look at his personal life to see the fierce loyalty he has for close friends and family. You never see any scandal, horrible rumours, fights etc and I think he is literally ‘ride or die’ for his loved ones. The way he’s brought up his 3 girls and Nate too, is testament to the man he is. If you’ve not checked out Paul Rosenberg’s podcast for Curtail Call 2 it’s well worth listening! I’m not a huge fan of Paul but it was really interesting to hear from some of his closest friends about his music making process and what he’s like behind the scenes. I think, because he’s so private, when something like this comes out, it’s always super insightful. There are episodes with Skyler Gray, Royce, Denaun/Mr Porter and a couple of others, as well as 2 episodes with Em himself. I really enjoyed it!
@curtayars7344
@curtayars7344 Жыл бұрын
@@scottishemmaa2457 I watched a reaction to that Podcast by Stevie Knight and it's a great interview.. I find it amazing how people can't see the genuine loyalty of that man when you have people like Dre Royce, 50 Cent, King Crooked, etc speak to how much this man has done for them and never asked for anything in return!! Then there's the Tech 9's out here saying that he did the "Speedom" verse for free and many others who he's made and produced beats for without asking for a penny, but don't forget "Eminem's just a selfish culture vulture"!! People need to stop the hate and complete ignorance they keep vomiting!!! I'm not even a big rap fan and haven't been in a very long time but you don't have to be a big fan of something or someone to appreciate it!! I've been a metal head for decades now but I still enjoy my old school rap!!
@scottishemmaa2457
@scottishemmaa2457 Жыл бұрын
@@curtayars7344 ah, thanks Curt - I didn’t know Stevie had reacted to that! I’ll check it out, I always enjoy his commentary lol! Yeah, I heard Tech saying that about Em too, the most he’ll ask for is for the artist to hop on a verse on one of his own projects at some point! He’s obviously super loyal, he’s even doing it just now with Skyler, she’s dropping something (maybe this week? Can’t remember!) and is newly independent after selling all her masters and leaving her label etc to pay for her divorce I think. So she’s trying to do it all herself just now and Em is helping her out, sharing links, photos etc on his socials. I’m an ‘old head’ too btw! Ha ha! SSLP came out when I was at university, I still listen to hiphop more than any other genre, but it tends to be older artists and UK artists. I’m from the UK so I might be a bit biased, but I think we’ve been killing it with lyrical rap in recent years - guys like Akala and Ghetts (my 2 personal favs), Mic Righteous, Lowkey, Wretch etc. Even the younger generation like Dave, Fredo, Meekz etc.

Supposably when Skylar Grey came to Em and Dre with the Chorus, Lady Gaga should have sung the chorus, but Em insisted that Skylar does it. Also she told once that Em just went to a room after hearing the chorus for two hours and when he came out with the finished lyrics she started crying hearing these lyrics.

Yep, and Dre was referring was to Snoop. That was when Snoop bounced to No Limit. Em still releases everything under Aftermath, even if Dre doesn't touch the project. That loyalty, respect & friendship that Em has showed to Dre, and vice versa with 50 showing to Em, is very rare in the music industry period. Let alone hip hop. Far too often you see child hood freinds & even family fall out over $$$, jealousy or envy. It's dope to see ish that transcends just the $$ & fame, when you pay homage to that 1 person that believed in you & gave you the platform to launch from.

And I'm so glad and in this song he said this song is really the truth nobody wanted Dr Dre to sign Eminem and I'm talking about the other rappers everyone around Dr Dre was saying no that's why the song is very important too even for today this song is very important to hear. thats the thing with eminem, he repays respect with respect, and loyalty with loyalty. he will go through hell and back for those loyal to him. wich shows that if he goes after someone he has good reasons to, cause he wouldnt just diss someone for the fun of it. if he disses you, you did something to make him mad and its best to go apologize. eminem isnt a nice guy, he is a real guy and what you see is what you get with him. and that is something worth striving for. ive been a nice guy for many years and got fucked over all the time. now i aint nice anymore, i say what i think and im brutally honest. fake people are tiresome and not worth your time, cause you dont know if you can depend on them if you need them.

I love this song. I don't know how much of what I read is true, but according to other comments in other videos as ll as little research suggets that Dre lost a child and was in some really dark place and Em really tried to pull him out. He's looking up to him and it is clear as day why. Great song. It always hits right in the feels. Also, yea, nobody wanted to sign a white boy. Even Dre himself thought first, Em was black, when he heard his tape. It's crazy how everybody jumped off that ship when Dre kept believing in Em and it shows, Dre made the right choice. Em will forever be thankful for that. In how many songs did we hear him mentioning or thanking Dre? soooo often. Even if it's just one line. Such a great song, really. And that isn't just cause of the amazing story telling Em is doing, but the bars he put up here again. I also read that Dre planned to bring out one more album and this song was on it but it got cancelled. Now I am not sure how much of that is true, but I read that it's cause Dre beleived, the ablum wouldn't have sold well enough and he makes good money with the Beats by Dre headphones. Anyways, I'm still a little upset that we won't get that last album. Damn it

Among the litany of things many people overlook about Eminem is his story telling ability. Some may be thinking that's fairly common in music, which it is but not in rap. It's hard enough for rappers to think of lyrics so they rhyme and flow well but to also do it in story format is an Eminem superpower. I just wish more haters sat back and realized how good he must be to last this long in rap and become the highest selling hip-hop artist ever. If anyone believes being white cwas the cause of his success and helped him in any way they are out of their minds. If that had even a glimmer of truth where are all of the other successful white rappers? Hip hop somehow in this day and age can be very racist. Hampered by the fact that many think it is somehow ok to be prejudiced as long as the person they're directing it at is light skinned. To point out how not ok it is for black artist and in black people in general to say he cannot and will not ever be considered the best to ever do it or even top 5 because he isn't black and black people created hip hop. Just look at some other things where roles are reversed and then tell me people wouldn't get mad and scream racism. LeBron James not to long ago broke the all-time NBA scoring record. How do you think the media and internet would have reacted had white basketball players and white fans said even though he's on top he will never be considered the best or one of the best because he isn't white and just as black people started hip hop white people started basketball. Do I really have to tell you how they would react? There would be protest and maybe even riots. Just because people of a certain skin color begin something doesn't mean it is only theirs and no one of another race should be respected and be able to be the best. If anyone claims he isn't the most gifted rapper and wordsmith the genre has ever seen they either have never really listened to him or they are lying. It's kind of a shame knowing the battle for respect he's had to wage his whole career simply because of the color of his skin that he couldn't even get be proud and soak in his Hall of Fame acceptance speech. Instead he felt the need to use up most of the speech reeling off a long list of past and early rappers.
