U gotta hear Joe explain his perspective. It's about what the rewards are 2 attain in rap vs where he chose 2 go. Between the business shenanigans and the nature of his catalog (mostly introspection and real life testimony) him continuing 2 rap and fulfill the obligations of doing it 4 business would be a lot more stress than most ppl would be willing 2 take on if they really thought about it.

God, I remember when Remy went off on Joe. It was one of the biggest call-outs for being afraid to respond I've ever seen. And the fact that Joe STILL refused to respond on wax just proved that everything Joe had to say after Remy called him out, was just to cover his own ass and hide behind the "I'm retired" excuse. Because it was clear from that point forward that Joe had been bodied OUT of the game entirely and KNEW it.

In all honesty. Joe clearly had the skills, and would have been extremely well received by audiences around the world. BUT, his ego simply wouldn't allow him to be able to deal with it. He (appears to me) wanted to get all the "rewards and recognition" but refused to actually "do the work" required of him to EARN the rewards and recognition. It feels like (to me) that Joe simply wanted things "handed to him". And when they weren't, he got fed up with the amount of effort he was asked to put into Slaughterhouse.

From what I have seen in videos and interviews, people say Joe's work ethic was just bad: not showing up on time, not showing up to a couple of Slaughterhouse concerts, not showing up in the studio, not keeping up with deadlines, etc. Bad discipline all around. And THEN you put his ego on top of that, so he would never apologize or try to do better, but instead be defensive and talk back. It's difficult to work with someone like that. Joe can for sure rap - he's a good lyrical rapper - but he's very difficult to work with.

What a lot of people don’t know is before Joe came out and called that song trash he’d been getting sht every time an Eminem topic came up on the show because he wouldn’t say anything bad about Em and then out of nowhere he switched right the fck up and started going in. It was a calculated thing because the general opinion on Em had recently changed and the younger crowd wasn’t messing with Em at that moment.

I think that's just guessing and making something out of nothing. He didn't answer for a longtime to any Em question and when Em dropped an album, especially since there was attached to it problems with racism (like a white man couldn't speak on them) and the album was trashed everywhere it gave him a feeling that now he's free to talk because everybody is talking about it. Then it became kinda a thing where he was talking about it more and more and more. I don't think there was any plan, how could they know the album would be as bad that everyone talked about it in that manner.

@aleksisuuronen5969
@aleksisuuronen5969 2 жыл бұрын
Yeeah but Joe and Royce are still close. Royce kept like the safe amount and safe time his distance from Budden and now they are again like two peas in a pod. So there is that. When the Lupe and Royce podcast was blowing up to pieces, Royce would add Joe to convos many times. Even after Lupe gone and Mickey and Royce talking about the Mickey's diss who does Royce add, Budden. There is a reason in Mickeys Diss there is a line: "Joe Budden d!ckriding: "Look at Royce, checking boxes". But still, it just solified the bar since only thing Budden was there to do was to co-sign everything Royce was saying how he doesn't need to answer and this and that. So it ain't so clear thing, ofcourse Royce secured his stance towards Em and said to Joe to cut it out. If I remember correctly he was publicly even pretty agro towards Joe in a manner we won't be seeing anymore, but I will see you when I see you if you continue. Then when all settles down Royce is his best buddie again. Which is fine I guess but I wonder if he was being a little ratty behind the scenes.

@@aleksisuuronen5969 That's correct, I really wonder if he was like that behind the scenes. But honestly, I think Joe and Royce are being a bit dramatic about the Crooked and Joell issues. @@irvinpamana Budden is only reliable to be unreliable and self-destruct and Royce has a way too big of an ego which was proven in the Lupe/Royce podcast. I really cannot look Royce the same after the meltdown over Mickey diss that just continued. He was talking really crazy bs. I don’t think the issue ever was whether Joe like the album or not, I mean I’m a fan of Eminem and what used to be Slaughterhouse but even I have to say I think revival is probably my least favorite Eminem album but there’s a difference between saying you’re not feeling the album and then ripping the album and Eminem apart like he did. He made that personal. And then we found out after the fact that he just doesn’t like Eminem, then we found out through the rest of slaughterhouse that he lied to them when he signed the deal was shady records because he knew he wasn’t going to honor the contract. From what the other three members said they said Eminem was doing everything in his power to help slaughterhouse and let’s be real If Eminem doesn’t sign Slaughterhouse to Shady Records over a decade ago and we don’t see Eminem, Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf on the cover of double XL, then we don’t get the BET cipher. No one today that’s under the age of 40 would know who Joe Budden is. He would’ve never been on complex there would be no podcast he would not have the career he’s got today without that deal because it put him back in the spotlight and for him to go off and just disrespect the man that put him in that position like that is the problem that everyone else had with it. It’s OK to not like an Eminem album but there’s a way to do that without disrespecting the dude that’s been going out of his way to promote you in putting up money for you to record albums and getting you on the covers of magazines and putting you in ciphers that the whole world can see.

How do you steer at someone in awe, when you think that you're better than them? I haven't listened to much Joe Budden but the few songs I have heard I can't deny his skills. Like you said he tends to get you in your feelings. But that's the same thing that caused his downfall. He got in his feelings and gets in his feelings too much and let's jealousy and stuff get the best of him. I think when he joins slaughterhouse with Eminem he was hoping he could sit on Eminem's lap and have Eminem Pat him on the back and tell him that he's a good boy and that he made Daddy proud.. but because he didn't now he's like a little kid who's mad at his dad and thinks he's better than him. Don't say you're better than somebody and when they call you out record after record after record you don't respond, just because you're retired doesn't mean you can't make a single song. Or at least say something in an interview with a little bit of substance and try to defend yourself. Only difference now really between him and benzino is that at least at one point Joe Budden could rap. Stanzino is still bitter 20 years later. Hoping he can fight Eminem so that he can let him hit him first and sue him and finally get his crack mobile business going. Crack on the go

Budden just had too much cap. This is why, as the game said," no rapper wants smoke with Eminem". Joe knew he couldn't hang with em in a lyrical battle, but he had enough people convinced that he could hang with em, that joe thought he could talk his way around it, never battling directly, but professing his superiority, and he would skirt by, and people would lose interest or forget. One unforeseen difficulty, Eminem doesn't forget a diss. Problem is, the ones that were convinced Joe could hang, were waiting for the smoke, or at least the attempt, which never came. That just made Joe look weak af. Obviously afraid of having to deal with someone as focused on the game as em. And hyper focused at that. A huge challenge for any emcee. But an emcee who already is aware of his shortcomings in an confrontation with an elite song writer? Joe was undescribably terrified of the possibilty that in order to keep his career going, he would have to defeat em, or at least put up a showing, in which case he would have to admit that he was not in ems league, and that would not be something Joe could live with. Hence, retirement. " Now I get it why your buddens broke, cuz u press him but he don't do nuthin tho"!

As a global fan of Eminem I can kind of weigh in here a little. Eminem actually helped a lot of USA artists reach the world stage. The reason? He knew who had that "realism" behind their story (music) so he put his time into it. There's a reason why a few songs made it ans a lot of others didn't. Americans make the assumption that the world is like America loving drama/fakery. Eminem knew that wasn't the case. I think 8mile was what really set it in stone for him to understand that. Because after its success he kept making banger after bangers with multiple artists across different genres. Americans assume the world likes what Americans like but we dont yall like to much fake shit and drama. The content has to be REAL or you wont make it on the world stage. The world has no time for fake bullshit or stupid narratives. Ps who are these people... Never heard of them
