This young woman at 15 yo is already a consummate performer. Even though Emma has the capacity to completely power through these songs, she is more interested in balancing that through her interpretation and emotional connection to the music and lyrics. A true artist, not just a singer.

Na Voila met Andre Rieu, maak je mij voor de tweede keer bijna aan het huilen, want wederom lopen de tranen mij over de wangen. Just yesterday I saw her perform this with just a piano accompaning and she looked much younger. I thought it was excellent, but this version shows how much she's grown. I think the key here may have been lowered to get back into her best range. Since seeing her do Voila I have been obsessed with her. In an increasingly frightening world, she is what we all need right now.

I'll probably get some push back on this (if anyone does respond) - but so be it. Despite how it might sound/appear, this is NOT a praise song - even though the word Hallelujah literally means "praise God!" The song has a lovely melody, this is a beautiful performance, and of course the incomparable Emma is the centerpiece. But if you listen to the lyrics, and do a little research into the writer (Leonard Cohen) you'll find the words to be twisted, even perverted - and certainly not intended to praise God in any way. Despite her terrible disease, Emma has been blessed by God with her obvious talent, grace and beauty. My sincere prayer is that this sweet child is not eventually corrupted by the music industry, and pop culture in general. To Jesus Christ - and Him alone - be the glory!!!
