I hear it also on Giveton Givelin, a trumpet player that was also on Emmet's. I imagine that's because almost all the jazz trumpet players today have classical training, like Booker.

I believe taking off their shoes when entering the house is a thing. In many of the performances the players are not wearing shoes…go back and watch other videos.

well personally my feet sweat a TON when i play so i tend to take em off if possible lol. its not a disrespect thing, musicians do whatever helps to get in "the zone"

im sure you'd notice if it weren't there though, i feel like bass is sometimes more a vibe in jazz rather than something thats meant to be consciously listened to
