Deathmatch taught me health is WAYYY more important than shield. They used to say spread em evenly. Now in most cases I try to take zero damage on armor unless I can swing. Otherwise I will not consistently make it to melee range with full health. And that was true even before DPS passive tbh. Probably different in high ranks.
@spacejesus6581
@spacejesus6581 2 ай бұрын
That’s probably much different with the armor rework, it got flat out nerfed. Better against Tracer and Reaper, but way worse against Pharah and Junkrat. And who’s the easiest character to hit with the fat bombs and fast missiles? The big German with or without a shield

@emongg i love the idea of live coaching. I've even watched series in other games like rocket league where a content creator will pick one person, after applications and interviews and stuff, and will coach them from bronze to "insert high rank here". Would be cool to see someone who is willing to put in the work climb the ladder over the weeks with a weekly catchup and coaching session with you.

Moira: "they have hog, tank swap" (even if the tank is playing something like sigma). I'm sure Moria is hardcounter to hog. I see this, the tank blame is incredible.
@sadbread2446
@sadbread2446 2 ай бұрын
Moira isn't a horrible pick against Roadhog if you're playing something more brawl oriented against a Hog that's able to land hooks consistently since getting to fade out of the hook combos is extremely useful and way more spammable than something like Bap IF or Kiri Suzu. You still need atleast someone to play Ana though, just to deny heals when it's important

The rein change you suggested would be pretty cool. Would give alot more agency over choosing to either use the speed boost to get out of the fight or try to at least trade instead of almost exploding as soon as your shield breaks. Doesnt need to be a crazy amount, & it reminds me of the zar bubble concept. You get a power up from ppl shooting your only form of protection.

Personally, while I acknowledge certain things may work differently in different ranks, this player would benefit more from knowing what tanks are good in what maps rather than counterpicking their tank. If you are only climbing because you have a favorable matchup, your ceiling is much lower because you won't be good at any 1 hero, and in higher ranks they will successfully play around your counterpicks. Better to improve your mastery, mechanics, and understanding of a hero than to only use it as counter.
@springroll4421
@springroll4421 2 ай бұрын
Yeah 100%. I personally have improved massively from playing qp, pushing heroes to their limits and learning what makes things easier. While tank counters seem to be the rage, 90% of the time as long as you, say, have a highground to hold and a backline to dive as winston, you're set. It doesn't matter if they go hog or mauga, hell most of the time countering the tank specifically just leaves you on a hero you don't know how to use. I have won comp games because the enemy tank, instead of playing their game to the full extent, tried to counterswap me on heroes they hadn't fully learned, and allowed me to play my game against a tank that was effectively a skill tier below what they were normally.

@HueyFreeman666 yeah, my peak on tank was during one of the Ram metas and I played Rein most of the time. I found most Ram players thought they just free win against a Rein, but I would play around corners and just swing on him in nemesis form. Saved shatter for his ult, and took him off the map as much as I could. It's the same when I'm on Dorado or Gibraltar as Winston and someone goes Reaper. It's like the most free win possible.

Let me be honest, live coaching seems like a HORRIBLE IDEA. The whole reason why these vids work so well for improvement is because you have a visual idea of what you are doing and what you should change. You ACTUALLY SEE what you are doing wrong. During a game you have no time to reflect on what you are doing and it’ll probably just throw you off even more
@sethescope
@sethescope Ай бұрын
@@walker1686 I think that's a personal preference/learning style thing. some people don't benefit as much from immediate feedback in the middle of something, other people benefit a lot from getting immediate feedback so they can make adjustments. also, the advice that is given during live coaching isn't the same as is given during spectating. live coaching is more about presenting different options, like "try positioning over there" and "try to take an off angle next fight" and "you tend to do X, try to focus on Y a little more." this would be especially true for someone in a lower rank vs someone like svb who can process nitty gritty and nuanced things on the fly. and again, it's about what works for someone in terms of how they learn. some people would be majorly distracted and need the benefit of hindsight and a calm moment to process mistakes. other people prefer knowing what they're doing wrong immediately so they can immediately make changes and see how things change very quickly.

On that idea of changing the way Reins shield works; I like the idea of a shared resource for both shield and firestrike. That way you could use the energy resource either for shield defence or for firestrike offence and the challenge would be balancing between those two things. It would give you the ability to have more firestrikes for range and damage but at the expense of shield health and could be a really cool way to modernise Rein and make him more viable in more situations. You could even make the energy gage recharge faster when he does hammer damage to encourage the mix of play styles.

On first point of Gibraltar I always tell me team (on defense) to take the high ground and only drop when the enemy team has pushed into the tunnel. It severely limits their unengage options meaning you will win the team fight if your team is better/smarter. After that I defend the corner right after the tunnel. If I'm on Rein I will sometimes hold that lower corner but you never want to push open country unless you have numbers advantage. Rein is best in close quarters.

Mindset and perspective is a huge part of improvement So out the gate before watching I feel like there are still going to be issues, but all told the simple fact of their willingness to blame themselves probably makes them a much better player even now than the majority of people featured in this series who blame others. Or at least a probably much better rate of improvement and base competency.

I'm not sure if this was the player's thought process, but I actually really like the way they used grav at the end of round 1. In Gold especially (and in lower ranks) Wrecking Ball could have easily stalled out the final push, long enough for his teammates to trickle back in, and then it wouldn't have been a sure thing anymore. So by saving it for the Ball, Zarya guaranteed the won team fight better than if she'd used it on the squishies.

@3:55 How about on shield break you get a speed buff like he's unburdened, so you gotta reload a shield or charge it manually. Maybe creates madmen who play shieldless Rein. Shiiiet make him swing ever so slightly harder or faster. Maybe make him stumble for emphasis and "balance". Maybe Brigg too, for continuity, but less dramatic. 👹

I feel better when I don’t swap and i win the fight, doesn’t seem to matter what I’ve picked. If I pick the counter-hero I’m not good on that tank. (Like for example, I cannot play Doomfist. Not on my life. I don’t know timing, roll-outs, when I can play dva or winston that I feel more better playing.

Uh No?...I also recently started playing tank. I play one tank (JQ). Went from silver 5 to plat 3 on tank this season in just 7 hours of playing. I could be much higher if the servers weren't so shit on my end. Basically, When I started my placements I was counter swapping the enite time. Something about JQ's gameplay just clicked. Even against hard counters I put up my own. I got blamed a lot for "not protecting my dps" against those hard counters, but I muted them the moment they started to annoy me, and just tried to focus on how to enable my dps players to make plays together. Not saying one tricking is the answer, but I find that it's better to master one hero 1st than to be mediocre at all of them just to counter pick.
