I am so so so so glad to hear people involved in "Western Medicine" talk about this topic that isn't woo-woo. For a long time we have known about the mind body connection, but has been chalked up as not valid or even worse, pseudoscience. If doctors can start to understand even better how the mind, perception, emotional suppression, etc. actually CAUSE physical illness, then I think we will have turned a corner. Thank you for posting this. 🙂

I don’t think one can really find the value of life’s experience without “seeing the screen.” The value of our “being” isn’t diminished by the things we might call failures in life. I feel like my life’s experiences aren’t happening to me, but FOR me. They broaden my soul if I can ingest them and allow myself to grow through them. The connection with something bigger than this life is everything.

I know every step of the process that you spoke about. I've never heard anyone talk about this before now there's book. I have gone through every step with more in between I know it. Yes I am now present and aware. Had a trainwreck of a life form childhood to about 9months ago. I ACED the ACES test, Bad CPTSD. I lived in my head not knowing what to do, constantly pushing off that, emotional terror. I became so sick of it crushing me. Now, I at the time I decided to not find another pain clinic & I went cold Turkey after 13yrs of opioids,(I have 9 herniated discs in my neck and mid & low back) marriage falling apart mental illness. I could go on, Anyway I just stopped fighting it off and let it tear me apart. I was ruminating always panic attacks anxiety attacks went through this thick blankness but then I was inside myself my streaming consciousness, it was like watching a blur with gut ripping emotions. Real terror. I'll shorten it up. I was emotionally immature. I'm not anymore. When you said walking into a room & you can feel and read everyone at once but you know the emotions & who they apply to. Its Freaky! I appreciate everything so much more than I thought I could. I'm content. 9months no panic attacks my fiery missed placed rage, is gone. CPTSD is gone I'm not kidding. Please do more on this internal rewiring of self topic.

Yes I'm replying to my own comment. You have more videos on more aspects of this process found them last night, I've been inhaling them all. I'm not kidding and I'm fine with no one believing me. I understand it all & can follow the conversation and I know before you switch to a deeper part, where you are going with it. Without a book or even talking about it with someone. I have went through all of it. I've had to think and make up my own explanations for what it is & the outcome. Thing I did differently is. Once I realized tho I didn't know what any outcome would be. It was something else. I was so tired of fighting it off. I just embraced it went in head first no more avoiding it. Go straight to it, you explain making shifts, I called it adjusting the EQ of my thinking why I had been thinking the way I do I observe myself. I made many shifts or EQ adjustments in my thinking. To put it another way my mind & heart weren't aligned properly. Listing to the other vids on this. I found myself laughing a lot in agreement. It's a terrible terrifying place to go, it takes as long as it will take. Its sooo! Worth it! People can wake up and stop victimizing themselves👍👍 Tho after a very deep dive. I have a completely different foundation. You are because of I AM. All will stand before Him.

There are times when I just let it flow and I surrender into it and there are times when it hits so hard that I scream in rage and pain resisting it all. Thank you for revealing your journey as if it was possible for you to walk through this wall of darkness and come to the other side it means it is in fact possible for me to. I am afraid to be ripped apart by pain but maybe that will be in fact what creates an opening to walk to the other side 🙏🏻

14 months of long covid. Had to quit Nursing a 35 year career that was a calling. Grieving the loss of self was harder than grieving losing my husband of 42 years. It was well I didn't die" from Covid, but "I lost my life" from Covid. I had to come to terms with the successes in the past, the positive influences I had on my peers and new grad nurses I had mentored . Mostly coming to grips with nothing is permanent. As a older person you feel really invisible, but I was never invisible at work, at work I was a rock star.. I realized my old self, pre long covid, had mattered and had made a difference. Wishing you strength on your journey back to wholeness.

Thank you Zdogg and Angelo. Your videos have massively helped me. I am definitely "stuck" and I recognize the pattern (and that one thing I am uncomfortable looking at). However, your videos have given me the peace, courage and the reminder that all of this is just part of the process. Like life being a building and in order to get to X story, I must go through this one. I have also learned to see my anxiety as my inner child crying for attention and help. Limiting myself to only saying "I see you, I hear you, I welcome you, I love you" but then finding a distraction so I don't have to look at it, is the equivalent, in my head, having a child in front of me who is crying and clearly feels neglected, telling her those words and then ignoring her again. So I'm sitting with it. I'm giving myself full permission to feel and whatever arises... and allow it to take the stage. I cannot thank you enough. Please continue making these. I love you both!

Oh. My. God. The mention of the emotion rising after a layer has been taken away. I meditated the other day and stayed there for quite a while, it felt deep, real, serene. I was in a state I rarely (or ever) had been in. Everything felt clear. And at some point I had to get up and back to "reality". I got up and got to doing my chores and I became... a fucken monster. I was angry, pissed, confused, fiery, abrasive... I could not understand how I got to the blissful state I was in to this. I never meditated after that and now... I finally understand what happened. Someone else understands. I wasnt alone. And this was normal.

If it helps: If you use Shinzen Young's techniques then remember to recycle the reaction into the mindfulness technique. See, hear, feel. Or Practice nurturing positive feelings like compassion, warmth, caring, playfulness. Tara Brach or Kristen Neff or Pema Chodron or Chris Gerber I believe have similar practices. If nurturing positive feelings is hard to accept, consider forgiveness meditations. Jack Kornfield has one posted on KZfaq. All this helps cultivate equanimity. Best

All awareness, whether yours or mine, is what reality is made of. So whether in a 'blissful' state or a 'suffering' state we are never not that. The apparent suffering state never changes into a non suffering state because it was never really a suffering state. What changes is the knowing that I am all these states, I am awareness knowing itself objectively. The Greeks in the west and the teachers coming of the Hindus Valley in the east we're both suggesting this 2500 years ago. That what you aware of in this very moment is not other than your infinite self playing a game of hide and go seek. Impermanence is how we describe with a concept the way in which I can never find myself due to the fact I'm not what I appear to be. I'm not the landscape, I'm the canvas the landscape is appearing on. But only apparently! 😄

This conversation was amazing! The thought storm talk left me with my jaw open. Now, when my mind feels distracted which I often notice it during my meditation sessions first, but I am starting to pick up when it happens during other parts of the day too, I know there's something deeper going on. I also will sometimes feel a tension in my chest or stomach. I don't always find out exactly why but I know that those moments mean that there's often something underlying coming up to the surface. I just let it come up as it needs to. I hope this made sense because I'm terrible at putting words to this.

I think the why is partly because we evolved to be walking threat detectors - thousands of years ago to look out for tigers behind bushes. Those who were fearful and cautious about walking past the bush had a higher chance of survival than those who were not afraid and ignored the threat. So we have these amygdalas in our heads that evolved long ago that are hyper alert to threat even when there are no tigers now. And we can learn to soothe ourselves and that’s where emotional honesty comes in, facing that we feel anxiety and allowing self compassion.

Some really great stuff in this. I love the idea of applying the *"That's a thought, what's the next thought?"* inquiry to a thought storm, running alongside it instead of fighting it or getting swept up in it. And *sitting with a single, heavy thought and giving it as much attention as it wants* (which immediately shows how ephemeral it is, how much it's just an instant of momentum in the mind trying to push or pull towards other thoughts but dissolves when given all that space and stillness) can also be incredible. Lately the topic of *"Not 'meditating' undesirable emotions away"* has felt very relevant, how often times a practice can be almost subverted or 'corrupted' by an aversive tone underlying it. And yet the opposite is so impactful too, how even the most mundane, dull moment, sensation, or experience can feel completely different when given absolute permission to be and do as it pleases. An orientation of allowing, or "giving" the uncomfortable experience whatever it needs or wants rather than pushing it away, and looking for what "we" want instead. Sometimes it feels like the entire body could be on fire, or like ants are crawling through every vein - and with the flip of a switch, it's like it is glowing and radiating energy calmly. Fascinating.

This was really interesting to listen to as someone who has ADHD and struggles with emotional dysregulation and also the part about the comparison of the story of our lives displayed on a screen. That's often how I describe to people what ADHD feels like to me. It's as though I'm watching scenes from a movie play in my mind but I am not always the subject and the scenes can change so quickly that it's distracting and makes it hard to focus on other things that have more importance. Or conversely, I'll get focused on ONE particular thing and then it's difficult to think of anything else.

Thank you for this interesting, practical and inspiring talk 🙏 You said that there are not many people who talk about awakening in a non-woowoo or new agy way... eckhart tolle is someone I feel who has been talking about awakening and awareness in a quite pragmatic and non woowoo way for decades now... Another thing I wish you could discuss: what exactly do you mean by awakening (ongoing awakening process vs 'the moment when I awakened') and how it is different from enlightenment or self realisation or god realisation (or perhaps it's the same?)...if you have already, could you point me to that video then?... If it's all the same, what is your understanding why in some traditions, especially in India, people put emphasis on the importance of a spiritual teacher or guru and when I listen to you and Angelo...the awakening process sounds so 'easy'. thanks 🙏

I tend to think consciousness is non local. It comes from outside of ourselves (higher self, guides, etc). Our brain processes the thoughts but the thoughts don't eminate from the brain.

I had a recent situation happen last week that triggered a trauma from childhood. I just cried about it. Cried the next day about it. Felt depressed over it until it faded by the 4th day. I cry maybe once a year, If that. I knew almost immediately what it was. Definitely from a past traumatic feeling that was very strong. So it did pass and i found that I need to healing with it. I don't judge myself for it. Its ok that I have that wound. I know that I can find healing for this. Is this what you mean by not suppressing emotions?

When one meditate for real one start to understand and see when a speaker also is doing his or her inner work. And the pointers start showing up everywhere. Reading The Zen Teaching of Huang Po: On the Transmission of Mind this week and is amazing to see that all teachings in some or other way points to the same truth, of course for me Zen masters are more clear language wise, cause in a sense is beyond language, emcompass it but is beyond it.

some people dont like to be snapped into reality like that lol. Some people want to just watch the movie and as soon as you tell them the science behind what they are watching or the technicals of how the screen works......theyd rather just go back to watching the movie. As the movie itself is there to BREAK their reality and breaking their reality is why they are in the theatre in the first place.

Hey I follow you about covid for a long time and i truly love the way you present things and appriciate the way you think and speak. This video is such an eyeopener that I would love to translate parts of it to hebrew (I'm from Israel) and put it on my social media page. Is it possible to do so? Keep on exploring and bringing you're whole self outthere. Thank you. Eyal.

I don’t follow this entirely and I am seriously trying. Which I realize is counter to the state of ND. I still see ND as a belief, not an objective reality. It seems to prize some evidence or other evidence. Why is my hand outstretched not a perfectly accurate and empirical proof of distance and separation? It’s almost as if the belief prizes no separation so that is what is seen in a deep state of meditation. Not that in fact we aren’t separate.

Is this the same as “enlightenment”? Are your attachments let go of? I’m thinking in terms of Buddhism, becoming an Arahant, and Nibbana.

All I can say so far (at 8:54 in the paused video) is that if someone interrupts my immersion in a movie I paid to see at a theater with nonsense like "look at the screen itself and forget the movie," they're going directly into my shit list. I don't get what he wants us to do. I'm sure he thinks it's obvious, but I'm not following--sorry. I know I'm a physical object made up of many highly complex parts, with the most intricate by far being my brain. I know it has electrical impulses firing around its neurons. I know I'm breathing to provide it oxygen through the blood flow from the lungs. I know I need corrective lenses to focus on what I'm typing. But I doubt any of this relates to what he means. At a stream-of-consciousness level, how can I perceive who I am if I try to ignore the story of my life?

I think your question at the end gets to the heart of it. Without the story of your life, told through thoughts and beliefs, who are you? Are those thoughts and beliefs necessary to being alive? You can feel the presence of being alive all the time.
