The hardest part of seeing Fido go was because he was such an intimate view into the lives of Spearhead, a record of their lives and trials because the Alba sure as hell weren’t going to remember them. And now he’s gone

Having read the books I knew that Fido died.... but watching the anime I still didn't see this coming - simply because the books didn't depict Fido's life flashing before its eyes. It just twisted the knife that was already in my heart in a way that the book didn't. It's what I love so much about this anime - it takes the books and goes above and beyond. The production is just phenomenal - even if they did run into issues that caused delays in cour 2.

In episode 8 (8: 29) you can see a picture of shin, his brother, Annette and a dog so i think fido was a dog they had a long time ago like that memory you mentioned

I remembered I cried with the flashbacks cause everyone was alive back then and cried when fido exploded

popular theory about fido's death after this episode is that he's shin's dog reincarnated, which would explain the memories from when shin was still a child.

Oh, no, please don't cry... well, this series makes you, so... But trust me. Good things will come... eventually. Some day? I think?? I'm glad you noticed that brief cameo of little Shin, and Annette and Rei. That's a huge clue of what Fido actually is Can't wait for the next set of reactions, they'll be good

Absolutely love watching you guys go through this anime. It is such an emotional rollercoaster. When I saw that Fido scene it freaking wrecked me. I will say there is some uplifting and positivity in the show, there is also some more pain. As a heads up the .5 episodes are just recap episodes. This show is so much about the human experience of just struggling against the world to live a good life and enjoy those small moments with your loved ones even through great adversity.
