I don’t have those Emotiva models, but, I do have 3 of their amps. I do intend on staying with what I have. I like what I have, and using Techno Dad’s new Spatial Audio Calibration disc, it made my system that much better!

I’ve had the xmc2 for a couple years now. It’s finally virtually bug free since the last update. I’m afraid with the new ones I’ll be starting over as a beta tester. And even if I upgrade, I’m still saving for a trinnov 😅

I have the XMC-2 for over a year now and never has any of the bugs. It’s by far better than my old x4700 and Marantz 7706 I had. The marantz was better than the Denon and xmc 2 blows them both out of the water. I would love to listen to a trinnov

I have the RMC-1L. It sounds wonderful, but much of the time, it's flaky to use. Even with the latest firmware. I will definitely pay for the upgrade when it's available. Fingers crossed that they finally solve the dreadfully HDMI input switching issues with this iteration!!

@dsnyder0cnn Man…..The hdmi issue is incredibly frustrating. I’d say 90% it works fine but that other 10% is infuriating. I finally got fed up and stopped using the video and just running audio through the RMC-1

@@hatoraidcowboy - for sure. My RMC-1L is an older model without eARC, otherwise, I might have tried connecting the NVIDIA Shield TV Pro directly to the TV. I'd lose OSD and I'm not 100% certain that our LG OLED will pass DTS HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD/Atmos bitstreams over eARC, but if that worked, the experience would be a lot better. Thanks for your video…I'm joining late, and although I've been in regular communications with Emotiva support about my issues, they have not shared information about this future upgrade path with me. This is the first I'm hearing about it. 😕 I'm a long-time Emotiva firmware-abuse enabling customer. LOL. I started with the UMC-1. Upgraded to the XMC-1 and sent that to the factory for the HDMI 2.0 board upgrade. Then, I upgraded from the XMC-1 with HDMI 2.0 board to the RMC-1L. For under $700, an upgrade to the RMC-1L+ is still a no-brainer, despite over a decade of firmware frustrations since the alternative is dropping $16k+ on a Trinnov to get the level of sound quality I'm enjoying now when things are working.

I'm surprised there aren't more comments about going with Texas Instruments DACs instead of AKM or Sabre's Pro line. TI is an unusual choice for high-end processors and, at least for me, a bit of an unknown quantity in terms of sound quality. Anyone have any experiences with TI?

Im waiting patiently on this. The only other bit of information i got from them personally was that the Expansion modules will be ready intime for this release. They also did release some information at AXPONA that the entire system will run off a raspberry pi , im not sure how i feel about that? I currently have an RMC-1L i plan to do a full upgrade to a RMC-1+ and add the 3 expansion modules to go from a 9.4.6 setup (using a mini dsp) to a full 10.5.13 setup to use as much of atmos and dts x pro as i can. I also sadly did find out the processors will NOT ever get full DLBM .:( . i do plan on upgrading and with 1 one module to start to see if the OS and GUI is actually any better or if its still the same story we have now. If its a homerun ill add the other two channel modules

😮 10.5.13 That’s gonna be a killer system. What size room do you have? And what speakers? I believe raspberry uses a version of Linux, and this version is supposed to be much more powerful.

Yes - would upgrade my RMC1L immediately just to have my wides and top-middles function with DTS content. Would also love to see an advanced replacement option (even for a fee) that would keep my system up and running during the upgrade process. The app driven setup is interesting but who knows until we see it. I'm also hoping the "plus" might include a DIRAC configuration that accounts for multiple subs!

Would have liked to have seen auro 3D surround sound processing included in the new upgrade aswell as 3D signal processing. Both these formats currently are in the MARANTZ CINEMA line up. So for me it's a deal breaker on purchasing the new emotiva processors. That said I'm sure that the new line up will appeal to some. 😊

I have the Emotiva rmc 1L for almost 2 years love it no need to upgrade as there no need for those features right now, I had a marantz receiver ans sounds 10x better.

Expecting the upgrade to be available before the end of 2023 was optimistic even six months ago, given Emotiva's track record. 😂 Still, I'm hoping the upgrade is less than a year away...

Having a look how laggy my XMC-2 is (even with newest software) and consindering it could play music from Tidal Connect, or however its called, l will stand in a queue to upgrade to XMC-2+. Doesn't matter for me I only have 7.2.4 at home.

Really hoping they will let you upgrade from the xmc-2 to the rmcl+. Heard the xmc-2+ will not have the new ti dac board. Also heard they are supposed to show something on this at AXPONA this weekend :)

It's been almost a year with no new information. I have an XMC-2 and want to get rid of it ASAP. I don't know why companies put information out like this, and then wait year(s) to deliver a half baked product.

The real question is, will it be bug-free from launch? And will the user be a beta tester? I would love to buy an emotiva processor, however, I can’t take a risk on it here in India, the xmc-2 costs as much as a car.

I’m exceptionally happy to upgrade the XMC2. Best processor I’ve owned. I think the advanced dolby Atmos Encoding has something to do with mid heights and wides. Currently the XMC doesn’t know what to do with the Mid heights on some mixes. It will literally cut the fronts and the rears and only play through the mids. Sometimes it even creates a bug where the mids completely cut out leaving no Atmos effects. Restarting the processor fixes it but it’s annoying. Example would be the eternals movie. There is a part where sersi gets called to the celestial. The celestial’s voice can be heard in the middle heights only in a 7.2.6 or 9.2.6 configuration. However if you disable the mid heights and go 7.2.4 or 9.2.4 the voice is played from both the fronts and the rears. I have found that it’s best to just stick to the 7.2.4 with the XMC2 as it sounds much better on all Atmos movies. Using the 7.2.6 completely kills my second row Atmos. Ironically I went 9.2.6 because of 2 row seating. However I just repurposed my mid heights to front Atmos and both rows sounds incredible. Hopefully this upgrade to the plus properly places Atmos in the correct height channels moving forward.

The height mid channel cutting out is definitely a known bug. There are forums about it for sure. Emotiva on the forums just advise to turn off the unit and to turn it back on. This does correct the issue.

Definitely not a long term solution though. I wouldnt want to do that every single time.

The best solution I have found is to hold the off button and turn it to low power standby. You can do this from the front of the unit or the remote. The problem is really apparent if you switch content a lot. Example: demo’s for friends and family playing like 6-10 clips in one sitting. The one demo that does it to me every time damn near is the Dolby Atmos demo audio sphere. However switching content is normally what causes it.

I'd prefer 10X more reliability. I REALLY want to trust Emotiva but I've heard too many horror stories regarding their processors. I think they might be better off focusing on a few core products instead of trying to cover the entire AV space.

I have a basic setup. NVIDIA Shield TV PRO into the RMC-1L and out to an LG OLED TV. Very common devices. HDMI CEC disabled on all three devices. Excellent Blue Jeans certified HDMI 2.1 cables. Even so, each time we power the system on, we never know if we will get HDMI to sync. It usually takes a couple or three tries. Everything works and sounds great once it's on, but if we pause long enough for the NVIDIA screensaver to kick on, we have to start all over again. The processor was $4k when I bought it. Most expensive piece of consumer electronics I've owned (besides loudspeakers). While the sound quality does not disappoint, usability definitely does.

Emotiva should have followed Monorprice's lead by licensing someone else platform, such as DataSat. According to users, the HTP1 from Monoprice has way fewer issues when compared to the RMC-2 models from Emotiva. HTP1 is based on Datasat's LS10 model. Building your own has lots of drawbacks.

Maybe. I own a RMC-1 and it hasn't been the greatest experience. Slow input switching, black screens, GUI really slow. When it's working it sounds great, but I'm not sure if I will stick with them.

Even with the new updates? I’ve heard its gotten better over time with firmware and software updates. Hopefully they’ll have better experience with the next iteration.

1 year later and still have yet to be even officially announced, I’m looking to upgrade soon and I’m heavily leaning towards Anthem AVM 70 8k because of the lack of release from emotiva. Has there been any update? I love the sound of my xmc-2 but the input switching/codec switching issues still plague my unit after the 3.2 firmware update, and emotiva has no answers to help me.

I was waiting for the DTS:X Pro support. However, now I also heard that Klipsch recently bought Emotiva. Not sure if that's true, but if so, can't imagine it's good news for the future? I am not a fan of any Klipsch... anything. Also, in the past, Emotiva has been plagued by software bugs. I wonder if the same will be true for the next gen.

No, they dropped pricing on current models, so that if you choose to upgrade you would basically only pay the difference.

@@hatoraidcowboy Thanks for your reply. Yeah I followed your link to Emotiva website and read the news. It seems to be a good deal to buy an actual unit and upgrade later. For US citizens it would make it cheaper compared to the lunch price of the new ones. However for people living outside US like me (NZ), the ridiculous asking cost from the greedy courier companies make that deal not interesting. I was really contemplating to purchase the RMC-1L but not too sure now. I may have to wait till next year...

Yup. There are some companies that still havent adopted it. Anthem just recently upgraded their receivers and processors to support 8K.

Interesting. Its pretty great man. Yes, not all movies have incredible or even good Atmos mixes, but you’re missing out on a lot of really amazing Atmos tracks 😃

@@hatoraidcowboy I'll have to get another amp and speakers. I actually have the XMC-1 with the upgraded 4K board. In the future I may upgrade though. It seems like every time I want to do upgrades life happens. I had to get a new water heater and water softner last week and that was 5K. It is what it is.

I have a bit of a dilemma on what to replace my Anthem AVM60 with. I like the Anthem products but don't like the company. I like Emotiva but their processors have not measured well in technical reviews. Audio Science Review goes as far as saying you would be better off with a Denon receiver as a processor. I'm hoping the new product line will be better because I really do like the company.

I’m curious why you don’t like the company? I love my MRX720 and Arc Genesis, but I want more channels. I will say I am reluctant to leave Anthem.

@@hatoraidcowboy It started with a bad experience with their tech support back around 2010 over their automatic room correction which was a disaster at the time. It's probably better now. More recently I had another bad experience with their tech support over a problem with my AVM60. They were not helpful at all. I wanted to get it shipped off for repair before leaving on a 5 week trip to Germany so I could get it back by the time I returned. They refused to give me an RMA because they had all sorts of test they wanted me to do first most of which could not be done anyway because it would not turn on. The tone of their e-mails were a bit condescending which seems to be typical for them. I think they've been like this all the way back to the Sonic Frontiers days (their former name). Anyway, I would rather not have to deal with them, Emotiva however is great to work with.

The hat trick will be robust HDMI switching and operating stability. Not always a hallmark on some of Emotiva's processors. I am looking for good things with Emotiva. Hopefully this will be the way. Platform indifference is the best news too. No matter what or where you are, it is going to be friendly. I could care less for all the gazillion speakers. Doesn't do anything for me. That Great differentially balanced sound, and reliability in switching and share over the network would be cool. Have it talk to my NAS even. Even more cool would be Dante integration too. Dante is coming to more consumer gear as time comes. Give me solid performance, and leave out the toys.

Same, I dont care about streaming services. I just want a solid reliable product with reliable hdmi and amazing audio. Let’s hope Emotiva works out all the chinks in their next iteration
