Will not lie...I was concerned this was another paranormal teen romance style vampire book. But this has me encouraged since you have my trust. Thanks, Mark!
@slowlyred20822 жыл бұрын
It's got flashbacks so you do cover the main character's younger years but not at all a teen romance. I really stick by the Vampire Hunter D meets Witcher (though I liked it better than the Witcher)

I bought this book several weeks ago and five days later I was horrified to find out that I was halfway through because then there won't be anymore until the sequel 😫 But I'm still in luck since this is the first book by Jay Kristoff I've ever read, I have Nevernight on my Kindle and I grabbed his YA novel Likelik3 from the library. I'm currently reading Lifelik3, and as a woman in my 30s I'm enjoying the hell out of it.

Awesome writer! His other two trilogies are badass! The sequel to this book was maybe his very, bloody, sexy BEST! You rock, dude.

I watched your and Mike's Book Reviews video in the past then happened upon this book at a used book store and immediately picked it up. Can't wait to get into it. Your description as Witcher in a Bloodborne universe sold me. You also sold me on the Prince of Nothing series. Good work man. You have a fan and a long time subscriber in me.

Reading this now, about 20% in, and I'm enjoying it too. His writing is fun, regardless of what I heard from Nevernight critics. (This is my first Kristoff read, too). Surprisingly the quotations didn't throw me off. I set right in with it. Tho I imagine it was difficult/annoying writing them... or the editor verifying they all worked correctly

Wow, what a fantastic review! I've been hearing really good things about this book and loved what you had to say about the pacing, sin, and how you related to it as a tattoo artist. Vamipire D mixed with Witcher? I don't know about Bloodborne, but the images I found look awesome. I might have to pick this up!

You should check out the Necroscope books by Brian Lumley. Very imaginative story with brutal vampires! Was written in 1986, so it's a vampire story that hasn't been hijacked by the glittery vampires that have kind of wrecked the genre.

I've read so many reviews bitching about all the things I loved about this book. I loved it so much, when I was done reading it on my Kindle, I went online searching for the definitive hardcover version (in my mind) and threw down $200 to buy the Illumicrate version from a seller on Mercari. I buy generic at the grocery store and wear my clothes threadbare unless I find a 'great deal', but in Gabriel's words, fuck my face if I won't throw open my wallet when it comes to books, lol. Me in a bookstore, wallet in hand: Here, just take it all. Thank God for overtime.

Listen to the audiobook after your recommendation. It was good kept reminding me of the witcher . Guess the only thing I was worried about while listening how the book was going to conclude since it was like 27 hrs I didn’t know it as going to mutiple books . The only thing is for how long the book was I kinda feel ripped off on not know so many of the stories he left out during those 10 years of being a badass and I don’t think they can circle back to it

I don't know dude. I bought this upon mostly your recommendation. I I got to chapter 5 before it went into my dnf pile. While I do commend the writing style and the story and all, my first impression was that it's an Americanized manga YA book (between the Castlevania vibe and the manga-style artwork.) Not that there's anything wrong with that. Just not for me. I had to move on to the Aspect-Emperor - now that's some grimdark!
