Mike I had not heard of the Empress WU either but i immediately went to ebay to the hosta store registered and added Empress to my wish list! I am also a lover of BIG LEAF PLANTS I have Jumbo Elephant Ears that are as tall as me Good Luck with your new family member The WU tell your girls if they sing to The Wu, he will grow bigger lol

Mike, that is a really healthy looking bare root hosta! I have the Sum and Substance hosta and it's gorgeous. Earlier this year I ordered 2 BOGO giant hostas offers from an on-line nursery. The plants came and to my surprise and delight 3 of them were Empress Wu and the other one was called Blue Whale. The plants were all really small and came planted in soil in tiny 2 inch pots, however all were alive but shortly after planting them (together in a 15 gallon grow bag) one of them appeared to have died (even the leaves were gone). Late last week and earlier this week we got some cooler temps and around 3/4 of and inch of rain on 2 different nights. Lo and behold that little dead plant has sprouted and is starting to get leaves on it again. YAY!!! I really don't have room for this many huge hostas but I'm determined to make room for them! I just love growing hostas! Enjoy your Empress Wu!

Wu is nice.. I bought a couple pretty good sized ones for about $12 each from a local greenhouse. But I prefer more eye catching hostas... seducer, stained glass, etched glass, climax and my favorite Brother Stephon

I did a group order with two other friends. Split a $130 bill. Going to divide everything among everyone. :) got crocus, tulips , grape hyacinth and many more. Now to make time for my garden so I hsve space for them.

Hey Mike- you’re the best rooter I’ve ever seen on KZfaq - I challenge you to try rooting a store bought grape vine after removing the grapes. If you can do it- I’d consider you the Root Master for sure!

I got a couple about 4 years ago and they are amazing mine got over 3 feet tall loves shade of course. Other big leaf plant you need to look into is called a Gunnera. If you like bug leaf plants you will love these as well

I have 2 huge EW Hostas among many others! Mine is about 2 years old so it's not reached it's maturity and max size but it's still the largest I have out of about 60 hostas that I have. It takes 5-8 years to mature. Check out the Wu La La sport of EW! That's my next one I'm getting. I'm happy for ya!

OMG, Mike, I LOVE THAT HOSTA__I WANT ONE!!! Unfotunately, I don't think it would grow very well in an apartment, in Southern CA. 😭 I just love the 'woodland' plants__hostas, dogwood, mountain laurel, rododendrons, azaleas, hydrangeas, MOSS! Makes me want to move back to NJ. 😳 ANYWAY, after seeing the 'giant-leafed' rodie you showed in this video I have the perfect idea for you__I'd do it but, again, I'm in SoCal__how about a spot on your property to grow a, sort of, 'jungle' of 'jurassic' plants?!? Mike-What's been your experience with sprouting hosta seeds? I bought some off Etsy this winter just play around, and the germination rate is like 95%. That seems crazy high to me. Is that typical?

Mike you need sum and substance hosta they are gold leafed and huge.

I have 2 that I divide from one plant....they are as large as a end table, 3 year old toddlers

Tell her thank you... they are addictive only thing with the hostas you have to be careful because of the deer ..my property is fenced in I have another shrub that is called Japanese Sun King which grows to about 4 by 4 and dies back like a hosta every year and a beautiful chartreuse color that is also in my one video where I'm walking around my pond it's a large hedge row
