In my opinion the quality of your reviews, regarding video-Quality, camera-setup, drone footage, slow-mo etc. ... is the actuall benchmark of testing Videos on KZfaq. It´s even BETTER than stuff from channels like GMBN oder EMBN (sorry guys i really like your work! But Rob make such a good job) .. So, i follow you since 4 years now and the evolution of your videos is massive! Hands up for your work and time on all these reviews and also to your research and enhanced information you gave the viewer. Cheers! :)

@@asifitmatters1 delaying payment is not the same thing as not being able to pay. It can be a tactic used to smooth cash flow. Bike sales ramped up way above trend over COVID. Orders throughout the bike supply chain from component manufacturers to retailers. Many companies also hired extra staff to cope. Now with the slow down there is inventory surplus. This delays the revenue to manufacturers and they are in turn delaying payment to component suppliers. You would have to analyse their financial statements to justify your claims. You should also ideally look at a longer term trend. If for example a company hired 1000 extra staff to cope with the blip of COVID demand and then let 1000 staff go when the blip finished, they are simply resourcing to meet their needs. That isn’t a sign of trouble in and of itself.

You're absolutely right about demand dropping off, it's now very easy to get hold of bikes and with more brands entering the superlight market, prices will only come down because people simply refuse to spend £7K, £8K, £9K+ on a pushbike when they are now plentiful and there's a buoyant used market. One Trek dealer I talked to recently said he was really annoyed the Fuel Exe prices had gone up, because he "now had to try to sell them and they were difficult enough before now".

Excellent quality video from the pictures and style. Definetly liked that you tried the 29er config. However, a comparison to the TREK is what everybody is interested in, mayber you can do that in the future. There is one point regarding the battery, you mentioned that in the Gen 1 SL the battery could not be removed, which is actually not correct, it was removable, which is important for flying. So the question is, does this hold for the Gen 2 SL or is this no longer the case? Keep up the great work!

Great review Rob. Specialized we’re the pioneers, pathfinder’s of e-bikes and we have a lot to thank them for. However, I feel this bike is for the Specialized diehards, as there ecosystem is lagging behind TQ’s. Their motors are virtually silent and the display integration is much nicer. That SL motor sounds as loud as my full fat Levo. Perhaps Specialized realise they are loosing market share and punted this out as a stop gap and they need to address their excessive pricing.

There are things to critizice about Spe e-bikes for sure. But software ecosystem is not one of them. In fact their interface is much more refined and options richer than TQ offering. Not even comparable to the diodes of Fazua 😂. And what about integration it is barely the same, except for the slightly more recessed screen on TQs. But in counterpart it lacks the higher definition and colors of the Spe, so…

@Paranoid Android most people that already have a Levo SL probably won't go around and buy this one too. However, many might be enticed to get the new motor for their existing Levo as it offers quite some benefits over the old one. I'd rather say that offering a way to upgrade the motor is also a way of creating a market for that as well, instead of completely missing out on those customers that don't buy a new bike every other year.

I would like to see these com out with a decent range….. like the Orbea Rise…. 540kWh+250kWh range extender… that is the reason I’m not buying…. Besides the ludricous pricing 😅

Price tag as always so specialized. If do consider lifetime warranty and day to day service, the price seems to be more reasonable. Now is it worth extra bucks for that or go with the focus jam2 sl ?

I have had the SL since 2020. Amazing bike at the time and still is however. Specialized have dropped a bollock here, I don’t think they have been innovative enough with this SL. I’m amazed it’s not had a new battery increase even if it’s like 15-20% bigger 🤯. Not enough change for me which is a shame. Giant Trance X is better and the Trek Fuel all cheaper which offer slightly more power to battery combo and still considered Light e-bikes

To add to the story, the Levo has had the same battery, 700Wh since late 2018 when the 2019 Gen 2 Levo came out. I'll keep my 2020 Levo comp which I bought in September 2019. I got a new motor (failed at 4300 miles) and battery three months later under warranty last year. I'll keep the bike until a new model comes out with a bigger battery at a lighter weight. I decided to do a full upgrade after 4,300 miles on original hardware last year. Suspension-Zeb Ultimate 160mm fork, 150mm deluxe ultimate rear shock), brakes-Code RSC with front 220mm HS2 and 200mm rear rotor, drivetrain-GX 12 speed AXS, AXS dropper seatpost, and roval aluminum wheels with XD driver for the conversion from 11 to 12 speed.

How does it compare to the Orbea Rise 2023? I’ve been comparing the Turbo Levo SL Comp Carbon & Orbea Rise M20 with 540wha battery upgrade. They come in at the same price. On paper the Orbea looks a better spec, however Specialized has 10mm+ longer travel back and front. What’s the real world comparison?

Just a little correction: the SL 1.1 motor is 240 W not 250 W.

Need to know if non-removable battery means not conveniently so, or if it means dead battery dead bike (i.e. not replaceable)...
