The film is set in a village in Colombia. (Brasil is a mostly Portuguese-speaking country). The themes are immersed in Colombian culture of magical realism with influence based on works of Nobel winner of literature Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Butterflies is another theme in Colombian culture. Rhumba is actually Cuban and Caribbean. Bullerengue, and Cumbia is part of Colombian music and dance.

I heard Lin on good morning America say he wrote this song when covid was bad and we were all on lockdown. He was living with his in-laws and his father in-law said he hated this song. Then, he noticed he was singing the song around the house and said ya know what it's kinda catchy. Lin then knew the song was a hit.

There's a reason this went viral...and not really anything to do about kids :). This song showcases both Lin Manuel Miranda's and the casts' amazing talents. Not to mention amazing writing and animation, this film is just stunning.

The show isn't just about kids or younger viewers it's for everyone like for the whole family the show includes family material or includes about families this show really is such a hit and a lot of educations about families etc. I'm really glad that this movie doesn't just attracts children but also adults as a teen my self or a 14 year old teen and this movie is the best so far really liked it!

36 and I've been rotating the English, Spanish and Japanese soundtracks for the movie (I speak all 3 languages, that's why those specifically). The rhythm is more Salsa inspired (not Rumba), and I chuckled when you stopped it partway through and said you thought it might be some kind of latino inspired because of how Dolores' hair was up, because just about everything/everyone in the clip has a latin look/vibe!

For some reason, I can't see the previous comments, so please understand if I reiterate something another poster has already said. The setting is Colombia, and the look of the various characters reflects the diversity of the population. I'm sure that you're aware that the musical form known as 'madrigal' is a polyphonic Renaissance form for unaccompanied voices, with up to seven individual musical themes that weave in and out of each other, blending perfectly. So what Lin-Manuel Miranda has done here is write what is, in effect, a modern-day madrigal with five melody lines. By the way, if you look carefully in the background of Dolores' section (she's the one with the red hairband), you can see Bruno moving around on the balcony, apparently enjoying the music.

Without giving any spoilers away that aren't already given away in the trailers, it is about a family who has been gifted with magic, it takes place in Columbia (not quite sure on the time. They're having theories out there based on how they have dressed and the technology that they utilize that it's probably around the 50s and they did that based off of a scene later in the movie when you compare it to Columbia's rather volatile history You can kind of pin down when this movie takes place), but it has very much a mix of Latin vibes, this one- especially the first part which is sung by Tia Pepa and Tio Felix, has a very much of a cumbia beat, which is a more of a slow traditional beat but there are times when it picks up and you get more of like the salsa and maybe a little meringue in there, and then also a little bit reggaeton, which is more of the hip hop, Spanish modern beat that you'll hear. If you want I would recommend checking out some other songs from the movie that won't spoil too much of the plot. They are "The Family Madigral", which explains their powers and who is who, "Surface Pressure" where you do a deep dive into how the middle sister of the protagonist is feeling, "What Else Can I Do?", were we get insight into eldest sister, Isabella's issues, and the very underrated "Waiting on a Miracle," where we see what the protagonist, Mirabel is feeling. You can safely watch those four songs without spoiling too much of the movie. The last three songs really need to be seen it with the movie either for contexr, spoilers, or both. Oh I forgot to mention that Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the lyrics to all the songs the one who did the lyrics for all the songs. You would know him as that gentleman who did "Hamilton,", "In the Heights," and the soundtrack to "Moana." In fact you can pick up a lot of his style if you're familiar with anything else he's done, in this soundtrack, Like the call and response, point counterpoint, melody countermelody, very organized chaos of all the overlapping lines That you were able to hear in the song particularly when the family was putting the table together. The last three songs on the soundtrack you need to see in the context of the movie because as I've said they either need that context for the payoff the emotional payoff of the music, which of course then spoils the ending. Those songs are what has been described as Lin-Manuel Miranda's love letter to Colombia, "Colombia, mi Encanto," "Dos Oruguitas," and "All of You." All three are amazing with those origitas probably being the most beautifully melancholy song that even if you don't understand the lyrics because it is on Spanish you get the feel from it particularly if you watch it with the movie because it's one of the big emotional payoffs of the movie so hold off on that one for sure! Oh since you're watching these with headphones on, make sure you're paying attention to the fact that they do an awesome job and recreating how it is on stage if it was a stage play with the use of panning so if a character is in the middle you'll hear him in both ears if they're on the left or right you'll hear them in the matching headphone. If they start towards the middle and then go out to the sides you can actually hear them moving from a centered portion to both going out to the side to the each individual ear with one voice being in your left ear one voice being in your right. They also make amazing use of foreground and background so like when they're going around the table you can hear them coming closer to you so some of the lyrics get a little bit louder and then you'll hear them scrolling either left or right or both of it's two characters leaving and then as the other ones get closer you hear them pan into the center and the foreground of the other one's fade to the background. Just really awesome technique! Sorry to totally geek out like that but it's something that is amazing especially for something I had seen as a kids movie the amount of time and effort that they put into it including even the foley, sounds which are added later to bring realism to the movie, are spot on. Like the sound of people walking or when Delores in "We don't talk about Bruno" ( she's the one who's doing kind of the quick quiet rap)starts walking up onto the boxes at the end of her introduction section, you hear the very hollow wooden sounds that would make if someone was walking up onto the boxes! TL; DR : freaking amazing movie, insane soundtrack, went above and beyond in terms of production, you can listen to most of them without spoiling movie but three of them you need to watch with the movie.

Hi guys, this is the first time I’ve heard this song or seen this cartoon clip. Have to say Disney are definitely upping their game, the visuals are amazing. I think I'd need a few listens to this to enjoy it more. It's not that I didn't like it (because I did), I just didn't love it. No doubt whatsoever it would grow on me, though! I love Disney films, but I prefer the old school classics. I can't get my little one to watch an entire movie as his attention wanders, but he was interested enough in Disney's Robin Hood to watch it in a few sittings. I'll probably watch this one at some point (I've yet to see Frozen, probably because my daughter overplayed 'Let it Go' to the point where I was cringing lol). I'm going to give you a prod about Pentatonix's cover of 'Can you feel the love tonight' from the Lion King. It's pretty epic. Elton John's music from that movie was some of his best, and PTX made it at least equally (if not more) awesome. Plus it's from what I like to call the 'Mullet Mitch' era. Some of my favourite songs are with Mullet Mitch (Sound of Silence, Come Along, and this one). Also, out of curiosity, is it strange reacting to music from an animation as opposed to real life/music videos?
@BritPopsReact
@BritPopsReact 2 жыл бұрын
@EnderOllie 4 "The Mullet Mitch" era, fantastic. We will give those a watch soon. I have yet to check out "Frozen" not sure about BP1 as he has a young daughter. I did enjoy the 2 I caught over Christmas though. "Sing" was great. As for reacting to an animation, it was quite different now you mention it, the video was great but we were more drawn to that and had to concentrate on the song a lot more. It's already made the UK No1 Spot.

Unfortunately musicals seem so contrived to me. Every one starting to dance in exactly the same step & bursting into song singing in unison. If you do the Voctave movie medley the reason there is no lyrics in most of the songs is because it was just instrumentals originally.

Plain reaction? …. A reaction is a reaction to something at the time it takes place, we are not like fake reaction channels that cry deliberately and fall off chairs, if you watch our other reactions you’ll see that we are one of the more informative reaction channels, correct we got the location wrong but we like reading comments that can inform us on where we go wrong.
