Endnote: combining two documents each with its own Endnote references

This video will show you how to combine two separate word documents, each with its own Endnote reference list, into one document with one reference list. If you have saved one part of your research document in a separate Word document e.g. the introduction and another part of your research document in another Word document e.g. the methods, results and discussion, you can combine the two documents - hassle-free without ending up with multiple reference lists.

Always learning something new from you, mam. But I've a question, If I merge two docs of two library, then none of the library gets updated with the newly inserted references from either documents. If I add new material into one of the libraries then how to cite this into the merged file? Thanks in advance.

I see your dilemma, and it sounds like the challenge comes in because you are using two endnote libraries. I think a good place to start is to Google for ways to use two endnote libraries on one document. If that's not possible, search how to combine two endnote libraries. I'm afraid one of the libraries will change its field codes. Let me know how it goes as I and others can learn from you.

Another thing that you may try is to import the one word document's endnote references into one of the two endnote libraries. I'm not sure what the effect on the field codes will be so keep a version of your document saved away in case you need to go back to it.

If I included two documents with distinct reference style (vancouver, chicago), Am I using the same strategy?

Hi L-P, I can imagine that that will be a need when one writes a PhD thesis with manuscripts using different referencing styles. I have not tried it before, but play around and let us know what happens. If it does not work, then you can always convert to plain text and then copy and paste into one document, however, my feeling is that there must be a better way to do it.

@@ResearchMasterminds thanks for yours time feedback. I have lost my first endnote library and the new file i mixed with the oldone so it didn't work and the last file was lost so therfore i send the message

@@ResearchMasterminds sister it's ok it was my fault sometimes misunderstanding creates huge problems. I am sorry for that, My file is ok because i click don't save option so everything was recovered. Thank you so much
