This chemistry video tutorial focuses on endothermic and exothermic reactions. It explains the flow of heat energy into and out of the system and surroundings. It provides examples of physical processes / phase changes such as melting, freezing, vaporization, condensation, sublimation, and deposition. It includes graphs such as the potential energy diagrams for endothermic and exothermic reactions. Breaking a bond is an endothermic process. Forming a bond is an exothermic process.

I believe greatest way to "understand" a subject is to teach based off what we are already familiar with in real life. For instance, The Organic Chemistry Tutor uses real-life examples which are already well-known to us, while many teachers explain in scientific ways, such as providing new formulas, bunch of variables and using scientific terms. In addition, some teachers don't pause to make sure to let students try some practice problems and catch up to the teachers' explanations. The run-ons is also what really frustrates many students, including myself. I am really glad The Organic Chemistry Tutor is helping us out here

Can you please answer my question? With these diagrams, do they show enthalpy or purely potential chemical energy? My confusion arises from the following: In an exothermic reaction, we know that chemical potential energy decreases and for conservation of energy to hold, kinetic energy should rise (product molecules moving faster). But if we said enthalpy decreases there will be a contradiction because enthalpy is internal energy + PV (assuming PV change to be zero) , internal energy ITSELF contains kinetic energy of the molecules, so how could overall enthalpy decrease (KE increases and potential energy decreases by the same amount)
@gardenmenuuu
@gardenmenuuu 3 жыл бұрын
No need to overthink this here is nothing to do with the kinetic energy .Since the chemical potential energy decreases it means nothing with respect to kinetic.The lost energy goes to outside surrounding
@nikan4now
@nikan4now 3 жыл бұрын
@@gardenmenuuu what is heat? in its basic form its the transfer of kinetic energy of the molecules so yeah it has everything to do with it
