George, home owners are already paying into a fund where solar companies pull funds from to retrofit homes with solar... its one of those "hidden fees" on your electric bill... if people just looked and read, they would see how bad theyre being ripped off by the power companies and the gov. So in short, homeowners can get solar with zero up front cost or risk. The solar company provides install, maintenance, warranty, and insurance on the systems using money from that fund. Cuz youre already paying for it. Until you take advantage of the program you'll keep paying for solar through your electric bill.

As much as I'm against what's going on, I have to play devils advocate. It's a numbers game and unfortunately the predictions tha the club of rome made back in the 70s are a real thing. The growth model that's been in place since the industrial revolution is unsustainable, everyone aspires to a US level quality of life and its impossible to attain on a global level with current technology. There is a 30 year gap between technology and meeting the demand in a sustainable manner. We are at the dawn of that 30 year gap where the system needs to reorganize itself under a new paradigm. To get thru this extreme measures are necessary because of the old saying...individuals are smart but people are stupid. As someone in their 30s it sucks, but my kids will have a better life.
