One of my favorites. The performance is so good, and the energy is insane! It's interesting that you said she was performing for a small crowd as if she was performing for 30,000 people. In the HAIK documentary, she performs "Warrior" for exactly two fans (plus the host), and she absolutely crushes it! You can find the performance on KZfaq, if you don't want to check out the entire documentary (though you should).

The Kalimba is on a track here. I know Magnus taught Aurora to play the Kalimba many years ago, and that Aurora played it on the album. So this would be either Aurora or Magnus on a backing track.

Since you enjoyed this song so much, you should definitely check out the original music video for "The Seed" by Aurora as well if you want to see a more powerful and energetic side to her. It is an important and powerful song about climate change and a rally cry to get people to start helping.

Silja is the the backing vocalist in this video (Sol is her last name). They're really great together, but Silja left a little while back to do her own thing. Luckily, there are lots of live performance videos with her, so you'll get to see more of her. As for the location, Iceland Airwaves is a big festival that happens in Iceland (you guessed it!). KEXP is a Seattle radio station that goes every year and runs little satellite shows at this hostel (KEX - I don't know if that's a coincidence or they took advantage of the name similarity). KEXP also has bands come to the station in Seattle to play a few songs and do a quick interview; the videos are on KZfaq and I find them a great way to discover new music. If you're ever looking to try something random, take a spin through their channel.

I'm so grateful that this KEXP concert was my first experience with Aurora. This is one of her best performances in my opinion. The set list is phenomenal too. I've been absolutely in love this woman since the first time I watched this video 6 years ago. I just knew that her music was going to change my life. Also, your impression of her saying "thank you" was too good. I actually did a double take. i don't know how you managed to sound like her. 😂😂

This one is a goodie😊. From what I understand she prefers smaller audiences, but she also does festivals very well. I don't think she has it in her to phone it in. Once watching her in Oslo, she mentioned choosing two days in a row at a smaller (better) venue instead of one big, and last spring she did three, as the two first sold out fast. Hope that continues! I believe there's some sampling or effects from the dude in the back, but Silja Sol is also doing something on a small keyboard thingy. As you can see I'm an expert on the matter 😉.

I think the synth that comes in at the end is either sequenced or pre-recorded as the keyboard guy is on tambourine at that point and Silja has a shaker in one hand and usually does Bass synth add-ins ...

Another similar song to her older ones is Dreams. It's part of her new album and it's one of my personal favorite tracks on the album, right after Starvation and Conflict of the Mind. It's great live.

You are the first reactor to recognise the Kalimba. It reminds me of the Larks Tounges In Aspic intro (King Crimson.) I think this is sampled though. Great reaction🤘

The question you asked about if she is ablibbing for this performance… the answer is no, she does it in her recorded version but it’s more subtle in the background. BUT on the recorded version just after that part she hits this RIDICULOUSLY high note which I stop what I am doing and wait for every time I hear this song - it’s fantastic! If you like the song - listen to her recorded version - you will not be disappointed

Aurora is all in, all the time, isn't she? I really love her voice. Painful cheeks: symptom of too much grinning. 😄 Background vocalist is Silja Sol. Most pronunciations I found were sil-ya sǒl (or maybe sōl). 🤷🏻‍♂

Hi! I love your videos. Can you please check out some Brazilian songs. I suggest “como nossos pais” by Elis Regina. It was a song that Belchior wrote when we was in the middle of a military dictatorship but Elis’s performances made this song kinda of the voice of the opposition. You may find a video on KZfaq of her performing live and subtitled in English. Pleeeeeease do it for us, your Brazilians subscribers ♥️🇧🇷
