If you like hard rock and metal, and also good lyrics and interpretations move your feelings, I highly recommend The Warning, 3 Mexican sisters who today are 24, 22 and 19 years old and have been there for more than 10 as a band. three original albums, a fourth to be released. It's like bringing the best of rock from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s with a fresh twist. If you want to listen to them in full rock mode, I'll give you Evolve live at last year's MTV MVA and if you want to listen to them more on a sentimental level , Black Holes live at dakota bar, always makes me tear up. I also recommend any song from the live show they did at the Metropolitan Theater 2022, that show is worth it. the best power trio of the last decades without a doubt. greetings.

As others have suggested, "Churchyard" live at KEXP Iceland 2018 is the natural follow-up to "Murder Song" and "It Happened Quiet." It's about the same subject matter, and that performance in particular is absolutely fantastic.

For a Norwegian, the concept of feathers falling from a pillow is something we all recognise. We are used to having our pillows filled with down and feathers and these occasionally sprinkle out and dance in the air on their way to the floor. But if you are not used to such pillows, you can understand that the term appears strange.

"Churchyard" is a good followup. In an interview, Aurora said about the song: "Churchyard is just like the concept of someone bigger using their power in the wrong way, that happens all the time in politics, with children, women. I wanted the songs to feel empowering - like at the end of 'Churchyard', she comes back to haunt him."
@kentsolgule5362

I think there has been a mix up by Aurora or some interviewer about this description. She said something very similar about It Happened Quiet at a Bergen show, before performing the song (that the female character comes back to hunt him, which fits with the lyrics in IHQ). I think it is a mix up because it doesn't make sense in the context of Churchyard, there is no such story telling lyrics in that song that fits that description.

@@kentsolgule5362 "So that dark male influence that we see in new songs like “Churchyard” - you’re not talking about Trump there?" "Not exactly. But he’s a bully. His thing is to be outrageous. Do you think he knows what he’s doing? It’s scary to see a leader persona like that, how his speech is the opposite of everything everyone has fought for before him. It proves how quickly a big group of humans can just switch around if someone feeds their anger and fear. It’s really scary."

Love this one 😊.She started writing as therapy, and what she sees/hears/reads affect her a lot. From what I gather, this one is a bout domestic violence. "Through the eyes of a child" she wrote when she could only see darkness in the world more or less, and she had to get it out of her system. Very sensitive and emphatic, and the emotions making her write the songs come back when she performs. She's great on the headset (very well produced albums), but watching her adds something extra. I seldom wait for new albums of artists anymore, but hers are exceptions.

Unique is a word that is too often misused but it fits Aurora to a t. The sublime harmonies of Aurora and Silja are astonishing and are an aspect that I don't think has been matched by the others who have performed with Aurora since Silja left the group (I think the same can be said for Magnus' drumming). So far, you have seen Aurora in her brilliant Nobel Peace Prize concert performance and the artistic masterpiece of Nidarosdomen. So next, you should take a look at the HAIK documentary/concert to see Aurora perform in one of her favourite places, the forest where she played in her childhood. The concert is pure musical magic. The documentary part will give you an insight into Aurora's amazing personality as well.

Churchyard (brit slang for graveyard) is a prequel to this song. In it, the window is closed and the abuse is verbal. It's the first song of the KEXP concert which is a good intro to her upbeat, dancable music.

The other woman is Silja Sol, who was providing backing vocals and synth during the Nidarosdomen concert as well. They don't play together anymore (Silja stepped away to work on her solo stuff, again). I don't think this song is connected to Murder Song (other than it having sad vibes and death). This is more thematically connected to Churchyard in that it's about domestic violence, power, and revenge. As others have mentioned, the KEXP version of Churchyard is probably the best one to see (that whole six-song concert is fire).

Nive react. You can never be completly wrong in an Aurora's song interpretation, considering they are mainly open to interpretation, and that's what she want. :) In my opinion, Murder Song isn't about euthanasia, it's about murder. The perpetrator of the crime thinks he's saving the person from suffering... that the world is too cruel for that person... which, in a way, is true for everyone. But in the end, he commits the crime out of possessiveness. A way of keeping the murdered person close for forever. It seems that the victim feels a kind of empathy for they killer... or can't believe what the other is doing. Seeks to defend they even in death... as do many victims (before their death) of violence and abuse. Note that empathy seems to me to be a deeply rooted character in A. For this song, I think the subject is also violence in a domestic relationship, which ends with someone being thrown out of a window and killed.

What i always find weird in murder song is the lyrics "I know he knows that he is killing me for mercy" Thinking that these songs are connected Murder song is a telling from the one being murder and i found those lyrics like she is convincing herself that if he killed her is because he knew it was for the best Why not, "i know he is killing me for mercy " Or "he knows he is killing me for mercy" The i know he knows feel like she had to convince herself that he is not willingly hurting her, cause in the lyrics is not clear that she is killed becuase of sickness he is only "protecting her" from the "awful things in life" if its connected to churchyard and this one, it can mean that she was manipulated into believing his aggressor But i dunno it might be too dark to be that

Other folks interpret this as about an abusive or toxic relationship. "Love is wild". The lyrics do seem to imply bloody violence, but I don't think they relate directly to the story in "Murder Song". Here, "It happened quiet". The other was not quiet. Aurora seems to have a great imagination and ability to create stories. Clearly she is quite observant of the world around her, and what she sees finds it's way into her songs.

Nobody else has been able to match Aurora's vocals like Silja did. She's amazing. I don't think this song is connected to Murder Song. While Aurora is a story teller, I think this song is more about a toxic relationship, and losing one's innocence, rather than being connected to a mercy k*lling.

For me Murder Song is essentially a song about a mercy killing and I can very much relate to it not only because my late wife (who died of cancer) and I spoke about that as a possible 'solution' for her anticipated suffering. But "It Happened Quiet" is just the opposite of Murder Song. The "Love is wild" in this song about domestic violence is extremely different from the love between the 'murderer' and his 'victim' in Murder Song.

Aurora has not been totally clear about the exact meaning of this song, and I've actually heard her say, sometimes she doesn't realize herself until much later, what a song was really about. It's generally taken to be about some sort of domestic abuse - she's also said a difficult relationship. Aurora has said these songs mean different things to different people. As far as I know, she's never clarified either the origin of this song or its exact meaning, except saying it's connected to a song that she did before, which I think people have taken to be murder song. I heard her refer to these songs, in a recent interview, with some sort of mental health term, apparently meaning they were a bit mad. If you take the lyrics literally, the song appears to be about someone being thrown out of a window, and coming back to haunt the perpetrator.

She has definitely said what this song is about, and before she sings it at KEXP Seattle she says that it’s about two lovers and that one is killed by the other. Here’s from interviews: “‘It Happened Quiet’ and ‘Churchyard’ - which is about someone that is stronger… a grown up with a child, a teacher with a student - someone that takes advantage of their power and uses it in the wrong way. It’s inspired by domestic violence.” AURORA “In my more delusional stories like ‘It Happened Quiet’ and ‘Churchyard’, the victim comes back to haunt the one that hurt them.” AURORA

Aurora has never made a connection between the songs. Murder song was inspired from that "mercy killing" you mentioned. But this is just a short story.

Agreed both songs might be about murder but totally different motivations. This is abuse, possibly SA from the descriptors in the song. Tragic but stunningly beautiful song.

I think you might be correct regarding two perspectives of a story... I'm not sure, but like to believe these songs are about (or inspired by) the story of Dagny Juel, a norwegian avant-garde artist in the 1890s (poet, dancer, and pianist, and model for the Madonna painting by Munch). She was killed by a friend and deep admirorer of hers in 1901, just befor her 34th birthday. She was resting on a couch. He also shot himself, but left several letters with explanations. Some parts indicated it was a mercy killing or a collective suacide. To her husband he wrote ...I'we done what you should have done long time ago... To her 5-year old son he wrote ...I'm taking here away from you....its for her best... she is not from this world, she is a Godess,...her mission on earth was accomplished by giving birth to you..." (loose citations from what I recall, from The Woman's Museum and NRK, Norway). It's not unlikely he actually was in a psycosis while she was unaware... In Murder song the victim tries to understand, defend and forgive the killer, while here she is more confrontive, e.g. "Don't you speak ower my voice" - could it represent the victims rejection of letters/story the murderer left behind?

I really love your videos. But sometimes your microphone seems to crack what's a bit distracting and I think it would be awesome to change your microphone someday if possible. I guess it will make the videos even more enjoyable ❤

Her song titles are often the opposite of the meaning of the song. Runaway f ex is about finding home.:-)

isn't she so special....? she has the amazing ability to connect to everyone's emotional core....this song is dark - about a complicated love affair that may be "dead"......."are your dreams as dead as they seem? I bleed in your bed, turn it red like the ground outside your window".........."love is wild" and not in a good way.................

It Happened Quiet is actually connected to a song I've done before... I continue a story I started 2 years ago... So yes, I've had these personal stories [on the album], of what I see is going on in the world and find unfair, and I just kind of wanted to bring them into light."[3] The lyrics are possibly about domestic violence, (sexual) assault or revenge. This depends on the listener, as Aurora stated that the songs of this album can have different meanings. Best regards from Norway 🇳🇴

I guess the $100,000 question is: What is "It" in the title: "It Happened Quiet"? What happened quiet?🤔

I think you’re wrong, as are the people who steered you to look for link between this and Murder, 5 4 3 2 1 … listen to the song again and tell me if you think this may be better interpretation … there is violence in it, between lovers, a man and a women, it’s domestic violence from the women’s perspective.
