it really shows how big preparation time makes of a difference, in "random" online tournaments, sure Reynor might struggle vs herO but no way would he loose to Gumiho 0-2, who then continues to loose to soO 1-4...it really shows that, if you give players time to prepare specificially for a opponent, koreans who have practised this format for over a decade now still make even top foreigners look like they are not even supposed to be here, like in the "good old days" :D

This set of matches begs the question - How would Serral REALLY do in the GSL format? (Or Clem for that matter?) No one questions that Serral's proven how dominant he is everywhere else. But GSL is a different beast, and watching Reynor get completely demolished here just further proved it. We may never find out, since Serral doesn't seem interested to try, but then that's always gonna remain as a giant glaring hole in his otherwise immaculate resume. @@SDanny23 gsl vs the world was a weekend tournament format, also he beat top gsl players on a weekend tournament format. so it IS a DIFFERENCE. there will be difference, such as reynor winning the highest prize pool ever in sc2 history: a weekend-tournament called gamers8(now EWC) [where serral only went ro.8 in that tournament] but getting eliminated immediately in the first group stages of gsl=2022, 2024( today) serral has a high chance to lose to solar, ragnarok, classic, soO, bunny, et cetra, all of whom have beat serral in weekend tournaments. if they prepare, serral would lose more harshly, more brutally get defeated. and there is maru, and if he is in his kingdom, homeground, he would surely beat serral, just like how serral beats maru in his homeground-weekend tournaments.

@@Gemraw I'm not saying I could do it, I'm saying Serral can't, and he probably knows it. Stating money and time issues is just an excuse, imo. I think that the GSL is the most prestigious tournament for a reason. Players are given enough time to prepare specifically for their next opponent. So far, Koreans have excelled in that area with no foreigner really coming close to achieving a win in the GSL. If you want to be considered the GOAT in Starcraft (I don't know if Serral aims for that), I think it is hard to justify without competing in and winning a GSL. If Serral is only in it for the money and doesn't care about merit, then I agree, it's probably not worth it for him. It's hard for a casual like me to reconcile the apparent difference in performance in the overseas tournament and in GSL. Serral completely demolished Maru 4-0 in the finals of the last premier tournament and made Zerg look like a brick wall and we all know Reynor can spar with Serral and Clem quite well. Against herO, I wonder if trying to counter attack so much with lings backfired. Against Gumiho, I'm not as surprised because Reynor seems to prefer playing vs bio more where pure mechanics shine. Definitely thought he won the 2nd game and was expecting him to just roach flood with possibly a few infestors to trap the cyclones to prevent mining at the third but maybe that's only viable as a backseat strategy.

Previous time he was overconfident strutting on stage like his going to own the tournament and talking in interview how he has an easy group. This time he certainly took it more seriously. I agree, he seemed to play well, but few wrong decisions is what it takes to loose. Looking back at his previous time he was obviously nervous and it was showing on his units control, this time he played way better in this regard. Tasteless said that GSL is very different in format from ESL tournaments. This is true, but still. It is not like Gumiho or Hero won against Raynor by some mad unexpected preparation. In case of Hero, he was simply better with his macro and army composition. And in case of Gumiho - some very on point decisions made in critical moments of the game. I'd love to see Serral in GSL. He called for Broodlords while casting, but they arguably lost him the game chasing Cyclones. Also, maybe HerO was listening when Reynor said EU meta is late Spores for more Queens while casting because he got Oracled to death. @d4slaimless I never said they were "bad" calls, just that they didn't really fit, EU and KR have different metas. He obviously knows way better then me but - Specifically remember him saying Spores aren't needed just good queen micro, and hero went fast SG both games which did well. But true - he did win 1 vs DRG last time he entered. 1-8 still isn't very convincing for other Foreigners to have a good chance, since Reynor beats 99% of them.

Once serral is gone blizzard will have to buff Zerg for the next 10 years.

You would say the same if Dark or Reynor win the next premiere tournament?

Yeah zerg is so bad now. No zergs can compete.

@@tommywatson1527 What are you talking about? Soo just advance , and we still have Dark Rogue Solar yet to play their groups. Unless its Maru or herO, who are stopping the Zerg?

2:05:40 "Weekend format" meme again. You guys realize Reynor is in a foreign country trying to beat a tight knit group at what they do best. The mental edge to the home team is massive.
@SsSHardtАй бұрын
So, if you make that excuse for foreigners in Korea, same thing should be said for Koreans in EU right? It's so hard to go there and just dominate on someone else's home turf?
@chir0pter29 күн бұрын
@@SsSHardt I dunno, does that happen? How about neutral ground? Don't think Koreans dominate there
@SsSHardt29 күн бұрын
@@chir0pter there is no neutral ground is it? And weekend format vs a prep tournament is a big difference. You can't just put your head in the sand and ignore it.

Good attempt from Reynor, but GSL is the highest lvl of tournament for a reason. The studying the prep Koreans will outpace u in that.

8% win was way to high for raynor. Why he was picked second. serral would get destroyed in the gsl.
