This is my first season watching ASL. I started with the Tastosis casts, but quickly found myself looking forward to you guys more, as I feel you give more complete analysis and overall superior commentary + great banter and personalities. Your passion and knowledge for the game really comes through. Also super appreciate how prompt you guys were with these vids. If a match took place one evening I knew I could rely on you to have a vid up the very next day. Thank you guys so much for all the work!

Similar for me ... ASL season 15 was my first season watching and I started out by watching Tastosis, but gravitated over to Starcraft TV Eng ... I really like Nyoken's style, and he and gypsy have been knocking it out of the park!

Respect to both players. Both are amazing and I've been following them since the old pro leagues in the 2000s. Soulkey's reverse all kill back then is something I'll never forget. Incredible moment. I just wish we had a non-mirror match finals. ZvZ isn't the most entertaining. Feels like a build "dice roll" every game.

Just finished this and heard Gypsy pulling out after this season, gotta say this was my favourite season casting wise as well, even though he's a dirty WoW player he really brought extra personality to the cast and I especially enjoyed his analysis as well. But I also understand, 5am starts are brutal!

It wasn't a bad finals per say, went 7 games, but this ASL left a lot to be desired overall. The best series were hero vs Rush and Snow vs Soulkey. Looking forward to next ASL where hopefully we see more balanced groups and better match ups in the playoff rounds

I feel for the Seond place player but boy, acctually really enjoyed this ZvZ. Great casting to, though perhaps with Ret there it might have gotten a bit more into the details of zerg. Thanks for the casting though, it's the passion and love for BW that draws me to this stream.

Spoiler Alert Man, I was bummed when I saw it was going to be ZvZ and sure enough it played out exactly as I thought it was Going to be.. But I like both of players I was rooting for hero to get his asl win, but not sad about Soulkey getting his 2nd in row The dude is a beast… When Is next asl? I wish that in case of ZvZ, the map gets changed a certain way, like a geyser is removed from the main. Or a neutral gas building occupies your gas so you first have to destroy it to build your own gas. Or any other change that would guarantee longer games and more tech tree diversity.

Theres not really a scenario in ZvZ where they would build anything other than mutas. Mutas just outclass everything zerg can build until devourers or plague, and if you rush any of those 2 you will just die to mutas. I think what you would need is a UMS map setting where mutas are disabled for you to see any tech diversity.

There's no special maps for the ASL finals and removing a geyser from the main would mean the death of Zerg against the other races especially Terran (not that removing the geyser in the main would affect the general strategy of the matchup anyway).

the main issue in ZvZ is that there's barely any defensive options that keep you safe long enough to transition into something else. T thinks Lings are coming, they build a bunker into their wall. P adds a cannon or two into their wall. Z? What wall? Creep requirment forcing placing a Hatch first, and needing every building to go through a larva/drone makes getting a defensive building wall especially costly in the early game, weakening your eco long enough to just die to Mutas later.

maybe one rule would be for at least one map both players are forced to have the same opening build, because more than any other matchup, ZvZ games are won or lost in the first 90 seconds due to scissor-paper-stone build orders. e.g. one map both players have to go 12 hatch: this would increase chances of a long play game. Another rule could be a special set of ZvZ maps, exclusively available in ZvZ matchups that decrease the scissor-paper-stone opener aspect and increase the chances of post-muta games.

Would they have gotten in trouble for match fixing if they tried to negotiate a no rush game til Hive tech? Like UFC fighter Max Holloway when he asks the opponent in the 5th round to just meet in the middle and throw bombs. That wouldve been a cool game 7.

Still not sure the extent of the Flash situation in Korea. Is he banned, is he injured, or what? Personally I want the best players to compete and produce a better product so hopefully we see him in ASL again someday

@@jesse1381 HE's not banned. HE just doesn't play professionally anymore. HE had wrist issues in the past. Why would he play ASL when he's no where near as good? He's already won 3 ASLs in a row, there's no reason to come back.

THIS IS A LITTLE SPOILERY. Don't read me if you haven't seen up to 2:00:00 ... I don't know in what scenarios, ladder matches, skirmishes, whatever, that startegy EVER worked. Maybe someone smarter than me could explain it? I feel like the only time that works is if the opponent goes 12 hatch.

It was kind of a psychological move by Soulkey to send a message that hey I still have a 3:2 lead and I'm going to pull some bs and maybe end the series right here if you don't respond correctly because I'm still going to win game 7 anyway. Soulkey's mentality and his ability to rattle the opponent worked well this ASL especially against Mini and Snow who have a track record of getting tilted

This was a great ASL, thanks for casting. I like both players and I don’t hate ZvZ but this sucked. Bunch of BO wins and sameish games. I bet you there’s a legit 3 hatch hydra build but no pro wants to try anything.

@@johnproxov8664the issue is that you don't have enough defenses to hold against a straight up Ling flood. the big "problem" with ZvZ is that every defensive option T or P has (building wall, turret) is extremely costly for Z when Drone counts are low. Creep means you have to place a Hatch on the low ground. Every building requires using a Larva/Drone, which Z barely has any when there's only 1 or 2 Hatchs in the first 5 minutes. In small numbers, Hydras lose to Lings the same way Dragoons do. Lings are almost impossible to hold without a wall, and that's exactly what Z can't afford to build.

Spoiler block . . . . . . . . . . . . So, at this point how strong is Soulkey's case as best in the world? He's repeated as champ which was only done by Queen and Flash, and unlike other contenders (cough cough Light) he's actually shown up at ASLs. Even looking at his overall play he just has that vibe about him where I just feel like he'll win any series he's in.

Series went all the way due to nature of ZvZ dice roll, but Soulkey did look better overall. I was cheering for Hero, but Soulkey deserved the win with his play. Hero's muta micro wasn't on point, kept losing overlords, some questionable decisions with ling movement.

Soulkey has to be the GOAT of zerg, right? He now has a StarLeague title vs all 3 matchups (ksl 2 vs Sharp(t), asl 16 vs Mini(p), and now asl 17 vs Hero(z).

Never had the dominance that Jaedong or Saviour had. Nor as consistent as Yellow. I feel like JD earned the bonjwa title, his rivalry with flash was amazing

Собачки и муталиск в каждой игре , очень одинаковое развитие кристал в кристал, газ в газ по числам даже одинаковое... zvz примитивно уж совсем ... Когда pvp разнообразие есть какое-то, не говоря про tvt , там вообще одинакового нет и по 45 минут может быть макро даже, а зерги тускленько... Ну да ладно, как есть так есть

ZzzzZZZzz Finals zvz... I fan of rts fir like 22 years, hard core playing sc bw like 6 years, coh like 10 years, like warcraft streams, a bit sc2.... Can't find more boring match up across all competitive RTS's.

Calm introduced a cool tactic last ASL with the second hatch in main mining gas down the ramp but it didn't stick.

Hoping to see Light or Rush back in the semis next time to try to give Soulkey a run for his money because it's unlikely for the Protoss to stop him. Soulkey's PvZ is too strong these days and he had a dream bracket with 3 Protoss in his section while hero had to deal with Rush
