Does carbon fiber cloth ever come rolled up? Wouldn't that be convenient just rolling it on like you would use a roll of tape? The resin could be added either by the manufacturer in a ceiled box together with the fibers or if that's not possible the resin could be entered directly to the foam-skeleton followed by rolling on the fiber and lastly covering it all with an external layer of resin.

Thanks for your very informative video. I recall Mike Burrows used a similar technique. He compressed the still wet lay up by wrapping round and round with electrical tape. Better would be to use a strip of peel ply. I think he just left the surface with a ridged surface after removing the tape. I would be concerned that grinding the surface removed some of the strength. It worries me that you appear to be touching wet resin with a bare finger, you can become sensitised and not be able to use epoxy in the future

The design is made from previous experiences with other similar bikes. There are some specific areas in which I put more or less material. You can find these details on other videos but I think they are in italian. Maybe I can explain in a future one

Prima di tutto ti ringrazio tantissimo per la spiegazione assolutamente esaustiva, ho imparato un bel po' di cose, soprattutto il consiglio di usare la polvere di carbonio asportata per riempire i buchi. Io mi sono trovato già alle prese con la lavorazione di vetroresina per la ripartizione di una canoa,credi che possano essere simili i materiali dal punto di vista della posa , preparazione ecc? Inoltre ho capito una cosa dal tuo video ,e cioè che la lavorazione del carbonio non è un lavoro per uomini che non amano sporcarsi!😂

Sì, è il principale problema. Impesti tutto. Però la lavorazione del carbonio, con questa tecnica è molto simile a quella della vetroresina. Il sottovuoto che si vede in tanti video può essere sostituito da una impregnatura precisa, usando la spatola per togliere l'eccesso e da una posa altrettanto precisa. Poi usando il nastro adesivo si possono compattare le fibra come e meglio che con il sottovuoto. C'è anche la versione in italiano, che più o meno ha lo stesso testo ma magari spiego diversamente alcuni passaggi, in caso dagli un'occhio.

Watching for maybe the third…or is it the fourth time. I would be very interested to see how you make / modify the forks. Just another thought. For the first layer over the foam core, would it be easier to use a thin layer of fibreglass. You can then more easily / safely sand and fill to get a suitable perfect finish, before going to the carbon. And so hopefully not much grinding of carbon to be done.

You can see the modification of the front fork in some o the old videos. About the perfect finish, on the latests frames, I try to use just a finish layer of carbon fabric once I have filled all the imperfections with the carbon filler, not to do too much grinding and carbon powder. It's easier and and better aesthetically.
