because they're always broken. races are a glorification of design potential, not real-world use. these cars can go through tens of thousands of dollars carelessly with racing sponsorship and professional mechanic teams. A regular person with one income can't maintain one as easily, which is why they stay cheap. the more expensive cars have more hype because the average person can enjoy them longer without fixing things. especially here in japan where all japanese maintenance and registration is very very expensive on these older cars no matter which one you choose, so people hold onto the ones that are the most reliable. the evo is the least.

Evo is more than great on paper, but in reality, mitsubishi is not very reliable

This race was pretty unfair for almost everyone except the NSX and EVO. Bring a Carrera RS/Turbo and a GTR. A entry level Carrera is not a track car.

It's not a GT-R, it's a GT-T. This is not godzilla, just a souped up version of the Skyline, the engine is a lot less special (RB25DET, not the RB26DETT, so he is right and you're the one who knows nothing about RB motors) and it doesn't have the trick AWD of the skyline (notice they talk about as the FR representative).

The fact that is a 1.8 190hp has nothing to do with the cornering, in fact is the lightest so it help and its very good, The only way to determinate wich is faster is in a time trial. Plus the Carrera was a entry level, not even a S or RS, so is off the race. The NSX and the Evo are really good too.

@Mr Calcium the Skyline here isn’t a GTR though it’s a GT model which is rwd and fitted with the single turbo RB25 and not the RB26, had it been the GTR it most likely would have beaten the Evo which was the point of my initial comment. As for the stock Skylines being overweight and underpowered I mean I guess you’re half right, they are heavy (1.5 tonnes or 1500kg) but I wouldn’t call them underpowered, 320bhp and roughly 270 foot pounds of torque isn’t exactly inadequate for 1500kg most of that weight coming from its four wheel drive system.

But you cant ignore the fact, that this is (or was) a JAPANESE car magazine :) Porsches are really well balanced cars and have a lot potential. But we will never know - if the datsun wasnt there, we could see a honest battle between the evo, nsx and the porsches.

+Scabu It is a japanese magazine, but they are really honest with japanese cars as you can notice on some other videos (suggesting that japanese cars are "too easy to drive" or low on power and comfort and quality). You don't see Top Gear UK praising all the UK Cars and you don't see these men praising the japanese cars without showing it. In this group of racers, 4 of them are huge porsche fans
