Scotland were amazing that night, big save from David Seaman to keep it one nil. Unfortunately the damage was done at Hampden by Scholes. A good era in football, decent players on both sides. It was a good battle over the 2 legs.

Missed the first half hour on telly, was visiting the maternity hospital with the wife. All the dads were keen to get home to watch this. Got in just in time for the goal, thought the wife was going to go into labour with our celebration. Typical ending, just not quite enough to go through.

No shots on target that is even more humiliating than the loss but at least we got through. Scotland dominated the second leg and in fairness were a bit unfortunate to not take the tie into extra-time. I have no memory of this match though I know of it as I was only just short of two years old at the time.

Typical Scotland performance, dogged and determined but fell short in the end. Hopefully new generation that have promised so much can deliver and take us into the knockout stage of a major International tournament for the first time in our 150 year existence.

Well, it won‘t be all that easy but it certainly ain’t the toughest group there ever was.. Germany are lucky they got automatic seeds -with all their wretched showings they wouldn‘t have even come close to qualifying had they taken the honest route, it’s very much a case of flattery quite like England at their worst. Hungary and Switzerland look ok with form nigh on par to Scotland‘s (although they didn‘t face anything near the strength of Spain). Honestly if Germany fail to clear yet another group stage and 2 of the remaining 3 do, i‘ll be chuffed!

Forgot how many chances we had, & England’s poor finishing . Was sat the 1st leg, brilliant atmosphere, but fell flat after the 2nd goal

One foot to either side and Dailly’s header was in, And we would have deserved to take the tie into extra time. I can remember running around my room going nuts when we scored. Now I wouldn’t watch Scotland play if they were playing in the local park!

Rubbish. We've got a better squad now than we did then. Qualified for the last Euros and so far sitting on top of our group for the Euros in Germany. This team are better.
