England's Lions took their preparations for the 2018 World Cup in Russia up a level with an assured performance and win against the Super Eagles of Nigeria. A driven finish from Harry Kane & a powerful header from Gary Cahill cancelled out Alex Iwobi's smart finish.

Jesus i swear people have a thing for Sterling, even the commentator is beating him down. Give the lad some supports ffs

He misses too many good opportunities that's why. He must even know when he kicks the ball the shots not going to be on target. Happens so may times over and over again.

Andrew Ridgers If you look at his England stats he actually has a lot of assists. Personally I think Sterling should serve a deeper more creative role getting counter attacks started and Vardy should take his spot up front alongside Kane.

Quake: Destroyer of worlds. I get that he misses chances and it’s frustrating. I’m a United fan, but what’s constantly beating him down going to do? Why not just get behind the lad? He’s one of England’s best players and has had his best season by far

Yeah, i would love to see Vardy play a more regular role. He's the opposite to Sterling. Give him an opportunity and he scores.

It was nice to see Alli playmaking and really get the offence going... but he was pretty much the only one who could consistently pick out good passes. I would call up Shelvey to have at at least one more playmaker in the squad because he is an excellent passer of the ball. Also I liked the confidence of Trippier. He's taking all the set pieces very well and has a nice understanding with Walker. England should focus more on keeping the ball, slowing the tempo and getting some easy chances from set pieces and wing backs to limit counter attacks of their opponents.

Henderson can't pass forwards... especially his long balls are far to often inaccurate and unnecessary. I'm judging him purely by his performances in the England shirt. I would keep both of them (Henderson, Shelvey) and send home Welbeck. Shelvey would bring something new to the team and as I said he is an excellent passer. Way more useful than Welbeck who shouldn't even be in the squad because Vardy is a much better backup striker and realistically the only one who should get minutes alongside Kane.

Is there really need for the comment “that’s the story of sterling in an England shirt”. If that was harry Kane they would be screaming oh and Kane has done all he can couldn’t get there in time. I personally rate raheem sterling.

Bunny in the Box yes that is true. But he doesn’t deserve the stick he gets. Trippier not scoring the free kick you don’t hear the commentators saying as usual trippier doesn’t score yet again. When he does well they will praise him but as soon as he does something we don’t want him to do he will get slated again. Name another player that gets slated more or the same amount than him?

I didn't rate Sterling at Liverpool and I still don't rate him now. His finishing sucks, he should pass the ball more instead of shooting. You can't compare Sterling to Kane come on dude. Kane scores for fun, Sterling needs some luck to score.
@tomsmith5782
@tomsmith5782 6 жыл бұрын
Ya Donovan isn't Trippier a defender? You don't exactly expect everything he touches to fly in the net. Sterlings problem was doing a big time money deal to city in 2015. I remember when it happened, I said now there is going to be a lot of pressure on him to live up to that transfer and everyone's expectations of him. Unfortunately for England he has not lived up to that. 4 goals in how many years? You wonder why people are giving him stick, it's his own fault.

Tom Smith big moves to Man City? Has John Stones proved he’s worth what was it £50M? Raheem Sterling gets more stick for doing things a lot of footballers do. His car wasn’t sparkling clean and it was front page paper news. Yes his goal record isn’t great but he doesn’t deserve the amount of stick he gets. I’m not even a Man City fan but I don’t think he deserves it.

Martin Tyler and Stewart Robson are not a dream team. Why is your decision to have Fox Sports commentary instead of Clive Tyldesley and Glenn Hoddle's ITV commentary. It makes it like Sky Sports are broadcasting the game. Put ITV commentary on Thursday's match vs Costa Rica or it's game over for Martin.

Again typical England even the highlights are in their favour, check the statistics both shots taken, shots on target, shots off target were all equal. Yet they only showed Nigeria’s goal, the English commentators were slandering Nigeria in the first half, one even said that England are just a different class 😂😂. They were completely rattled second half, COMPLETELY!!! Alex Iwobi and Mikel looked amazing, not one English midfielder could match them for technical ability. England and Nigeria have equal chance of doing well in the World Cup.

to Nigerian fans, why would Alli pick Nigeria over England, his dad who left a week before he was born, so has no connection with your country or would he pick the country he was born and raised? This was a good performance by England . Well the 1st half was This team is a better team than the other England teams southgate has chosen . Here is what I would say needs to improve : 1. Young slows England's play down . Rose must start 2. I would play walker . Maguire and Cahill. Stones is not consistent enough. 3. Play either dier or Henderson both are not particular good or consistent . Dier is a better passer and a better presence , but I suppose Henderson does things well as well .

We were great until Nigeria scored and changed their formation, which is worrying! We were playing with creative freedom until they scored and then everyone seemed scared to make a creative risky pass. Too much hogging the sidelines walking and passing and losing the ball. Happy enough overall but it is a worry that when they matched our system we couldn't seem to get through them. I liked Alli and Lingards link up play and think if they stayed on when welbeck and rsshford came on we would have probably had a better end to the game. As a prediction I think quarter finals is possible, we are a better side then Poland if we do end up coming up against them but actually showing it on the day is a different story.

Dele Alli has a Nigerian father and an English mother. His father left the family a week before his birth when he moved to the United States, which is why Dele doesn't wear his father's surname on his shirt. There's a cadre of delusional Nigerians who think all players with Nigerian ancestry -- no matter how little they care about Nigeria -- should play for for their country. Go on the twitter pages of Ade Lookman and Tammy Abraham and you'll see what I mean. That is why Dele was booed.
