English Historic County Tops...No 14...Somerset...Dunkery Beacon.

Today was the first day of our holiday in Devon...on the way down there we detoured to visit the county top of Somerset, Standing at 1705 ft, Dunkery Beacon is quite a viewpoint with views North across the Bristol channel to the Brecon Beacons in Wales and South to Dartmoor, sadly today the views were hazy, still an enjoyable little jaunt though.

I love days like this, when it is dry, warm, moody clouds and the yellow gores really stands out. Nice one on climbing to the top of Dunkery Beacon, which was unusual and very different but really good too. I would rather a day like that, then a cloudless sunny day, with too much heat, cheers Alan

Wow parking just £1 it's not often you get it that cheap at such a beautiful place. It looks quite a pleasant walk and on the whole not too steep with a great reward of fabulous views all around the county at the top.
