*Have you just watched this video and wished you'd never put that hydrocolloid on?* Because you've put it on an intact or torn blister? Well, don't panic! While it's on, it's not doing any harm. *It only becomes a problem when you go to take the Compeed off.* So consider just leaving it on for as long as possible until it becomes very loose. Then give it a soak in soapy water to help loosen the remaining adhesive and help you remove it safely. Hope this helps. ~ Rebecca 😃👣

I have a plethora of all of the above around my ankles because I’m recovering from catching poison Ivy. Basically no where to stick adhesive from the bandaid without it touching a roof or deroofed blister. Any Ideas on my options? I’ve been legging it around in shorts and sandals which is fine while I’m around the house, but at work I wear socks and steel toes, I need some sort of protection, so I can walk normal at work... Again, ideas???

Yesterday was hot, I wore sandals and walked around 10km without a care in the world. Fastforward and today I am in bed with two huge blisters in each foot (one ruptured) watching treatment videos on youtube because I can't take a step without limping and flinching. Somehow, finding all the people in the comments are also trying to figure out how to treat their blisters is making me feel less miserable. Together in pain and confusion. Cheers, everyone!

Finally a great and full explanation. There’s actually another video of a doctor stating the complete opposite of this. This definitely makes more sense. To leave it alone and let the body heal. How could there be doctors on here telling g people to pop them if it makes them more likely to get infected 🤔🤦🏽♂️

Hmm, yeah, that was probably me too. But thank you. Anyway, just to clarify, there are times when lancing a blister is a good idea. Just because it's more likely to get infected, doesn't mean it will. It means you have to look after it properly so it doesn't. When I get a blister on my foot, I rub it with an alcohol swab, make a small tear right on the edge, push all the fluid out, and try to get the layers of skin as close together as possible so there’s no air or fluid underneath. Then I put a band-aid over it; the kind we have is really flexible and sticky on all sides of the pad. I make sure it’s tight enough that the sun can’t move around a lot, but I’m the right position for me to move my foot in the ways I need to. Then, every morning and night I do it again; this lasts a few days. Eventually the skin will just get hard and seem to be a thick callus, but like a week later the top layer will peel off, so I cut off the loose parts. Done it a few times and honestly? It works really well. Doesn’t hurt very much and has never gotten infected

Hello, I currently have a “deroofed blister” the same size and location of the one in the video picture. I’ve been using a liquid antiseptic to clean it and Neosporin to dress it while wrapping it with gauze to somewhat let it breathe. Should I be using a bandage to completely seal it off so no air gets to it, or is the gauze acceptable? Also, the center has become very red as if developing a blood clot from walking on it. Is that normal or should I be concerned and take more preventative measures? Thanks in advance!

So in other words don't tear the skin off when it's trying to heal otherwise it takes longer to heal and you're more than likely to get infected so I have been doing the right thing when I've been just draining the liquid out and leaving the skin on it's torn but it's not infected in any type of way so I'm keeping the skin on and I'm going to put a bandage over it and hope that will make it heal in a couple of weeks.

So after 5 days, I finally drained it with a sterilized needle and put some antibiotic ointment and covered it up with a bandage. Now after two days, I feel numbness around my toes and just noticed I have some inflation on the sole of my foot. Don't know how long it has been swollen, but it has made walking difficult for me. It sounds really pathetic that just some boiling water can do so much damage, and I feel stupid to tell anyone I'm limping. Can it be infected? I think that many people are with me in the same boat when I say that I painfully peeled off the blister roof because I thought it would heal faster that way 😂
@Blister-Prevention3 жыл бұрын
No worries. Just make sure you cover it with Compeed or another hydrocolloid blister bandage to make sure it does heal fast www.blister-prevention.com/how-to-use-a-hydrocolloid-dressing/. Don't leave it open to the air to scab over. Scabbing isn't healing - it's just dry goop. Underneath you'll still have your raw blister base.

So what do you do if you have the roof and it isn’t cut open, do you just leave it there and will it eventually go away? Or do you have to do something for the blister roof so it can go away
@Blister-Prevention3 жыл бұрын
That's called an INTACT blister. You protect it with an island dressing (ie: bandaid) and reduce pressure and friction levels. The aim is to stop the blister causing forces and allow the blister fluid to reabsorb so that roof sticks back down. If you're tempted to pop it, read/watch this first: www.blister-prevention.com/should-you-pop-a-blister/

Funny how I did absolutely nothing when this happen. I just let nature kick in, bubble form, bubble pop, teared hole appear, it turn red a few day, then some skin cover it up again. The result of red phase is on my left foot and result of skin already cover the red afterward is on the right foot.

How long until the blister goes down/away? My first time burning myself was years ago, and it basically popped while it was wrapped while i was working out. i didnt notice until i looked at it, haha.
@Blister-Prevention3 жыл бұрын
Well, for friction blisters (my area of expertise), read this to get an understanding of how long it takes and what full resolution means: www.blister-prevention.com/blister-healing-time/ But if it's a burn blister (not my area or expertise), that means it's a second degree burn and that injury is deeper than friction blisters. DermNetNZ is a good source of information: dermnetnz.org/topics/thermal-burn/ Hope this helps Kris. ~ Rebecca

Yes, lady try that.. Im sure it wont work.. See the way you treat blisters, you could maybe get away with small blisters on child skin.. Im my case they were deep, like 2mm under the skin.. The pain was extreme and YES I had to pop it to get rid of the water.. Then I removed the dead skin, and it helped with some pain caused by walking. The blisters kept comming back for 2 months and for as long I hiked the mountains. I dont have blisters no more, but that thick skin is what im left with and it dont feel nice.

If you must continue to walk on a foot with a blister, should you reduce pressure by draining the blister, as it inevitably burst anyways, at least once its been drained it can be dressed without the pressure.
@DangLao063 жыл бұрын
Yes, it’s better it bursts in a controlled, sterile environment than a surprise burst in a dirty shoe

I have a blister on my pinky toe. I looked up what to do for it (it’s closed roof) google says that if it’s painful, to prick it with a clean needle in the edges and drain it. Is that a safe thing to do? Or do I just leave it alone?

@@sianbre6541 Hmmm, might need a photo so I know where near your toes (presumably bottom of foot and not ON the toes, but I'm just not sure - if so, it's not one of the more common blister locations). I'm off work with a cold today. If you want to send a photo, even if you just draw on your foot where it happens if you don't have any photos of the actual problem, I'll be able to take it from there Sian. This is the only channel that doesn't advice piercing a blister roof. I'm confused. Will the liquid disappear?
@alyssaisit3 жыл бұрын
The liquid will leave after a couple of days if you leave it alone. Do not pierce your blister with anything unless you absolutely have to... and you don't have to.
@Blister-Prevention3 жыл бұрын
The fluid will reabsorb. But you have to nullify all the blister-causing forces. Otherwise, it will reform and refill. BTW, I'm not anti-piercing. Read this forst though: www.blister-prevention.com/should-you-pop-a-blister/
