A good alternate to cutting the corners is to just cut an entire side off so the entire blank is the width of the slot...or use square blanks rotate at a 45 degree angle and lob off one corner so it lays flat in the slot! I may add a couple videos to my channel soon showing this.

Hello Corinne! I followed your link at the top for the blanks on Amazon. It took me too Rustic Decor 10 Sheets 5x7 .040 PETG, Clear Styrene/Plexiglass. My question is, what do I select for my Material Settings? Would that be thin or thick? Also, just wanted to say, You have been a BIG help to me with my Cricut Maker! I've learned a lot of stuff that I had no clue about. Keep Up The GREAT Work!

I got these acrylic sheets. Can you please show how you cut the corners? You said cut with scissors but when I tried they just shatter.

You may need to use a glass score. I am doing some research on using the Engrave tool to "score" glass and glass-like materials using the Cricut. Limited success so far - there is NO content out there on this concept and I think it has a LOT of potential. For these particular 5x7 sheets instead of trying to notch the corners I would just cut off an entire side of the rectangle to shrink it to fit into the slot - cutting a corner out of glass is a highly advanced technique.

The reason acrylic is used is because the cricut does not recomend using any kind of glass with their machines. It can be quite dangerous if something goes wrong with glass. Highly likely to crack or split where acrylic is stronger. As for which gives off my light... I'm not really sure to be honest :)

Great Video Was a little confused on acrylic. You had 3 x 5 and 5 x 7. When you held up the 5 x7 you said I think they were very thin and you can cut them with a scissors but you can't cut them with the machine. Can you please explain further. Thank you

The Cricut Maker or Maker 3 (I own the Maker 3) cannot cut acrylic but it'll engrave or etch into the acrylic? I just assume that the Maker 3 would require the deep point blade set to cut serval passes for the cut. I'll have to dig into this a little more to see if the Maker is or is not able to cut, I just do not want to run acrylic through my Maker 3 for a cut. Thank you for your video!!!

Our have to use the engraving too not the blades. It will break your blades you cannot cut true acrylic no.

Cut a tab in the bottom and its not 100% straight

The thickest material you want to cut is 1/16 or even 3/32 but whats the thickest material it will engrave?

2mm is the thickest they recommend. Mostly because it has to fit under the roller.

Because i didnt need to. This piece is fairly thin and theres no need to move them. They actually help hold the piece down

I just bought mine two days ago along with the engraving tool and knife blade...I was told you CAN cut acrylic with the maker? I'm so confused now..I was told it had to be a certin acrylic but it again that it can, but should I not? Can I risk hurting my machine trying?

Please help, the mat wont load correctly. It kind of goes in a little over to the right then it spits it out again and starts engraving on the mat. The actual acrylic will not load
