Here's a video on the Philips Hue Gradient lightstrip for PC. A brilliant bit of kit that can fit on the back of your monitor and react to the games you're playing, video on screen or music you're listening to. In this video I'm unboxing and setting up the kit on a Corsair monitor to show you how to do it and what it looks like in action.

Hello sir Prawn ! Thanks for the great review. I'm looking for a backlight system for a Samsung g9. How does the Phillips one compare to the corsair ls100 ? I'm planing on using it mostly for gaming.

Can I ask where you got the light strip? I noticed that the power supply is for 220-240 voltage, which is surprising because I thought nowadays all power supplies are for 100-240v. Thank you.

I have this and it won't find the light on the app, Tried adding serial number and still won't find it. edit : After 2 hours of nearly tearing my hair out and yelling and screaming at my pc(lol) I got it to work, Tried everything and was about to return it. Make sure you put the controller box VERTICAL on the back of your monitor, I'm not joking that fixed it for me as I had it horizontal thinking it wouldn't matter. Hope this helps someone from stressing out. What an unusual problem though, Never had issues with other controllers being in a different position.

Yikes, I thought the Corsair option was expensive but damn. I mean I know Philips is a pricy brand but this is just a super basic strip and you need to also get the bridge if you dont already have it. So twice the price or more depending on the kit you get.

Why would you make a 14 minute long video about colour syncing lights, only to demonstrate the effect on a blue wall and therefore fail to demonstrate the colour syncing effect? And also having another set of lights shining on the wall so even the brightness of the tested lights is not accurately shown?

@@bestonyoutube Hardware: Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip (in correct size for your monitor) and a Philips Hue bridge. Software: free Philips Hue Sync App on your PC/Mac (GPU doesn't matter) and a free Philips Hue app on your phone. Even after watching this full video, I still don’t understand how the power strip “reacts” or “syncs” to the color on the screen. I was reading other reviews on here and you said you also need a “Phillips Hue Bridge Smart Lighting Hub”? If I remember correctly? But I still don’t understand the mechanism behind how the hue hub and the light strip working together to react to the screen light. I don’t see any sensor camera which I see in govee products for that to work? I’m sorry for sounding like an amateur but this question has been bothering me for a while now. 😅

@@TheProvokedPrawn yeah, but how does the app send the colors to the lights? Via Wi-Fi > Bridge > Wi-Fi > Lights I suppose? Wouldn't that give a bit of latency between the effect on screen and what the lights shows? Games can be really fast, so first second it's blue and one explosion later and everything is red and yellow.

i still don't get it either...how can the app know what's on the monitor ? I'm pretty sure it does not react and sync to the monitor video, I can't even see it on the demo video, it's just blue all the way, makes no sense

I've been wondering this too. There's no way for the LED's to sync to monitor without additional hardware.
@Twerre100
@Twerre100 Жыл бұрын
@@whitegoodman3438 As far as I understand it, all the lights have their own "Zigbee" network. Every Zigbee device can communicate with each other, and when you setup the app on the computer, you connect it with the bridge which connects your pc to the Zigbee network. Your computer can then directly communicate to any of the lights directly, so it chooses the light with the best connection(presumably the light strip in this instance) and tells it what colors it needs to be. If you have many lights in your setup, the lightstrip may then tell the lights next to it how they're supposed to then react.
