Hi!
In this video you will learn to clean up and enhance your vocals for that creamy radio style sound :)
(I apologize for bad audio quality in some portions of this vid - compression sucks!)
Enjoy!

Glad it helped! There are a few complainers here in the comments about my sound being crap, and I get it, but it doesn't change the fact that what I showed works xD

When you record, re-record and re-re-record stuff - shit happens. Doesn't make the video any less useful in the sense of what you can do with Audacity. Free content, after all, I'm not charging you a penny for it. Don't like it - feel free to take a hike ;)

its been around 5 years but this was somewhat helpful actually, i noticed you sounded a bit tired but thanks for uploading and while i was scrolling down the comment section and people saying the same stuff (the ones complaining and making the same " joke" are common they just focus on waht they didnt like instead of the main point of the video ) but i think you should just ignore them 'cause you dont need to explain how they chose to watch and if they dont like it they can leave every time and if you happen to read this can i ask what you do as a job?

I read the comments and thanks for a positive one, for a change :D I earn my bread as a 3D artist and a photographer for the most part, but I also dabble in video editing as well as graphic and web design. 5 years is a long time - I was still a student back then knowing MUCH less than I do now :)

Hi there, I recently went to a wedding and recorded all the ceremony and speeches on the dji osmo. Little did I know because of the fan and the gimbal there is a horrible consistent noise over the top and the people sound echoey. Because the noise is consistent should I be able to remove, I'm really pissed about the Audio. Thanks
@TheUltimateBlooper
@TheUltimateBlooper 7 жыл бұрын
Should do! Sample an isolated instance of the buzzing and apply the denoiser to the whole clip, see what happens. I'm not exactly sure how to remove echo as I didn't ever need to do so, but surely there's a tutorial here somewhere! :) (then again - aren't edding receptions usually held in big halls and churches anyway? I'd expect echo there!)

well this sounds pretty good already....but I would need to know if u could use Audacity to remove wind noise for a voice recording?
@TheUltimateBlooper
@TheUltimateBlooper 7 жыл бұрын
Hmm, seems like I missed your comment for too long - sorry! Well, if you haven't tried already - you should. Depending on the wind type it COULD work, but noise removal works best with a static pattern that it can follow, while wind fluctuates. I guess you could soften the negative effect of wind if you're more selective about the parts where you apply NR, but I'd recommend trying to get a get recording to begin with - use things like dead cats (this is a technical term, btw!), windscreens, etc. Hope it helps either you or at least someone else who may be reading this later.

Hello. I am using Audacity for recording for the first time. My recordings are picking up background noise more than foreground voice (my voice). Could you please help me in fixing this problem?
@TheUltimateBlooper
@TheUltimateBlooper 6 жыл бұрын
This usually happens when you have the microphone volume set very low, but then digitally add gain to the recording to get the volume up there to hearable levels. I'd suggest starting your search there.

interesting... I noticed this was in mono...I record in stereo, so I shouldn't need to duplicate the tracks, right? also, seems like a funny noise happens when I do the noise removal, didn't hear it I'm yours....thanks in advance...
@TheUltimateBlooper
@TheUltimateBlooper 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, Drew! The reason why I duplicated the track a few times was because I'm "layering" the effect and that gives me finer control over the end result. I guess I'm just applying a non-destructive layering approach as I do when retouching in Photoshop :) Basically you've got the isolated lows, highs and mids or whatever else you want and from there you can adjust the volume of each track to mix between the tracks. You will find that people layer sound effects all the time, so it only seemed natural to me to do that with voice editing. As for the mystery sound - have you got a sample? Not quite sure what it's supposed to be :D

It would be very difficult to remove such interference, I'm afraid. The noise reduction would simply not work because there's no pattern to work with - the TV is unpredictable, as far as the algorithm is concerned. You could try a frequency gate, say if the music is high pitch and the voices are low pitch (deep male voices) - you could try separating them that way by frequency. Another possibility would be to separate by volume, but it's unlikely that the volumes in music/voice would be very different, considering you're saying that it's already difficult to hear the conversation. There might be AI solutions available for such work, but I don't think a regular "rule" based approach would work well in your case, based on the description given. You could always try the Audacity forums, see what the members say - someone might find a way.

Your making a how to have better audio when the audio in your video sounds terrible? You even apologize for the bad audio in the description! WTF!
@TheUltimateBlooper
@TheUltimateBlooper 10 жыл бұрын
Hi! The audio quality got reduced significantly because it was re-compressed about 3 times (original compression - recording compression - final edit compression - youtube compression) and I wasn't expecting it to be that bad in portions. That does not happen on a typical recording scenario anyway where you are only working with a master file. Furthermore in my recent videos I'm recording with a professional Samson mic whereas in this one I was not. In any case, the tips provided here are useful regardless of the setup you use - removing noise and making your voice sound more appealing to listeners (remember radio presenter voices - they are enhanced in real-time). Hope it helped anyway!

Hello. I am trying to remove some background noise from a video where a woman is talking at the same time. The sound I want to remove is a high pitch alarm sound but it's not isolated from the woman's speach, it's all blended together. What can I do to remove the pitching sound? Nothing I do in Audacity seems to be working! HELP PLEASE! TY
@TheUltimateBlooper

Depending on the volume and the frequency you could maybe use a band-pass filter to remove (reduce) the higher frequencies - have you tried that? I can tell that it will never be perfect because you can only polish a bad source so much, unfortunately. Though I am definitely not an audio engineer, so maybe someone who does it for a living could help out!

Tell me about it - shit got recompressed like 3 times because I didn't have a good mic at the time. Try my newer videos and have a listen there. Same priciples still apply anyway - you use the NR filter to sample an empty bit for static pattern, then use it again on the full clip to take the static out. Apply a band-pass filter to your liking. The video shows all of this, just that the actual re-re-recording is bad :) Kind of ironic how my video turned out, I could make a new one now, I guess...if I weren't a lazy scmuck :D

Although this video is very old i want to mention that despite your editing corrections there is a annoying high frequenzy in the final voice over of thsi video. I hope you could remove it after the five years ^^ (btw the test audio file didn't have that high frequency)

I'm replying to this old comment, because why not! Shit happens when you re-record audio a few times. I couldn't work with lossless files properly back then either. So I did what I could. If I were to re-make the video today - It'd be a completely different experience - with a proper mic, clear video and audio :)

Yea coz if people were more succint and to the point, then these videos cold be about 50% shorter and I wouldn't need to waste my time watchin dozens of minutes of people typin in the Notepad or stuff like that. Do you yourself like it? I somehow presume you don't. Besides, whats te point of dong yet another 10000th of audacity Denoising filter videos. I was lokin for some creative ways of enhancing audio quality, but 99% shows the same - how to use the denoise effect. I don't see any point in doing a video that has no unique info but simply repeats same old stuff that's basically on every other video on using this soft. It's just makes me harder to find more substantial things

Liar! I did use high pass and low pass too! :) But seriously, you might want to cancel your internet service then. Clearly the online world is too repetitive and frustrating for you. May I suggest doing what I did and playing around with the damn software and reading a manual? Best way to find out which filters do what and that doesn't just apply to Audacity either. My suggestions would take you further than you wasting your time complaining.
