I just started listening to metal and stuff like this about 5 years ago. Thats when something in my head clicked and I started listening for the emotions, and thats why i enjoy a lot of metal because its more deep and mature (not sure if those are the right words but hopefully you know what I mean) than the normal music nowadays. I just discovered Ensiferum on Pandora a year ago and I absolutely love all of their music. Sorry for the long reply but your comments on this video inspired me lol.

people usually dont take into account the emotion and intent of an album. If you go into a new album without understanding what its about, you dont really hear what the artist is trying to get across. People are just pissed because its not a battle album. This album is more of an ode to well....the unsung heroes.

really? I love this album too, but i feel like a lot of the Jari stuff was way more melodeath with some folk thrown in. Even Victory Songs and From Afar was like that, but with a step in this direction. This album really defines the genre.

For me, this album, though still good, is the beginning of the downfall. I fell in love with them with Iron and Victory songs, the first song which sealed my fate was From afar.

The production is supposed to be raw, that's what they wanted.

It seems to me a majority of people who listen to music have no sense of emotion or the intentions of albums that are written. This album is not about battle, therefore shouldnt be fast paced like battle tunes.

Väinämöinen's sword is sheathed, his shield to the side, he's holding a harp. They made it clear right on the album cover.

I just heard the new ones. My first feeling seems to be especially disappointed with the tune, not good as From Afar, even worse!

it seems that the majority of people who listen to music are practically looking for vocal porn, moaning and computer noises will do that job just fine for them
