ET looks back at horror hit 'A Nightmare on Elm Street,' unearthing rare footage of Robert Englund's four-hour transformation into Freddy Krueger. ET's been with the horror icon since the first film in 1984; over the years, he's reflected on the success of the franchise -- and what it was like working with a relatively unknown Johnny Depp! The OG film was Depp's first time on the big screen, a feat the actor described as 'incredible' in a 1988 interview. Plus, a look at the famed house from the franchise, which still stands today and sold in 2022 for $3 million.

@@leemehan Naw… I know that Robert’s co-signed the idea of Bacon potentially playing Freddy… But, Bacon doesn’t have the personality, charisma, swagger, & sense of humour that Robert brings to Freddy’s character… No one can ever top Robert as Freddy… I personally just wanna see Robert do 1 more Movie… Or, however more he’s willing to do… So Nightmare On Elm Street goes out with a bang… Its pointless to continue the franchise without Robert.

Jason Blum from Blumhouse Studios, recently said in an interview a few months ago, That he’s 100% confident that he can get Robert back as Freddy, for 1 more Elm Street Film… Robert hasn’t commented on whether he’s down or not yet… But.. He did do a Horror Documentary with Blumhouse Studios recently… Which tells me that he is on good terms with Jason Blum… So… Ya never know… Maybe we’ll get a big announcement in 2023..

There will never ever be another Freddy as good as Robert portrayed him. They already tried and failed miserably to reboot the franchise. He's just as much as part of popular culture as the character he plays. I wish he could give just one more performance buy we all know it's never going to happen.

Wow! 37 years!? I actually finally saw Nightmare on Elm St the Summer of 1986 when I worked as a Camp Counselor. I was a Freddie Kruegar fan from that time forward! Robert English really looks nice, healthy and put together! So good to see him!😊

Robert Englund is among the great Horror Royalty, and I celebrate them all around this time of year every year. With the modern CGI visual FX I'd love to see another Nightmare movie with the visual FX of Doctor Strange.

I remember in 1984, the theater we saw Nightmare at was actually checking ids to see if you were 17 or above. This is tame stuff even by the standards of television shows today. Englund is iconic. Freddy, Michael Meyers, Jason Voorhees...there will never be characters with that pop culture impact in horror movies again.

I remember the first time I saw the original Nightmare on Elm Street movie. My Dad let me watch it on tv when I was in 1st grade. I was instantly hooked and Freddy Krueger became my favorite character of all time!! Over the years I watched all the movies, tv series and any other tv shows featuring Freddy Krueger

Freddy Krueger scared the 💩 out of me when I was a kid. My uncle dressed up to the T like him and come at me. Let’s just say I ran up my mom like I was running a marathon. I will never forget it…lol

Johnny Depp 😊 the 1st bigger movie 🎥 I guess he was in...and when I later saw him on screen, since then I love him 😂...and I knew, he was dropped on this Earth, too, lol 😂 Wow time flies! I love to hear, he was polite! Oh boy...but I don't like horror movies. But I remember, when I watched this movie and saw him sinking into the bed, I actually had to laugh hard lmao 😂

In any role he's in I always see Freddy!!!! The only thing that helped me realise he wasn't real was seeing Robert in an interview in normal self ... I use this technique with my children now if they're scared of something, I show them a making of. . It works

He did such a fantastic job with that character!😃 I just rewatched New Nightmare last night. Oh my goodness Heather Langenkamp is so friggin fantastic in it! I LOVE the emotional work and all of the physicality work they gave her to do in it!! So much high octane action with her! I absolutely love her performance in it and Freddy is so creepy in it. Such a great movie.

I loved how in the opening of A Nightmare on Elm Street, they don't explain who or what Freddy Krueger is, its just this mysterious burned man, and it made it feel super scary. If they remade it they should stick with the mystery of freddy Kruger it makes it soo much more scarier.

Seen this in 84 when I was 7! SO SCARED to sleep alone for about 3 weeks! lollll! But felt better when I talked about it with my classmates in the second grade who felt the same! The house got SUPER updated inside!

Scariest thing about the 1st Freddy movie to me was his voice changing from creepy neighbor when chasing Tina at the beginning (Tina!!!Watch this) to a demonic creature from Hell when chasing Nancy ("I'm here") almost like he gotten stronger after every kill...
