Easter egg: not only does Stallone reference another of his roles, Rambo, so does Russell, when he's in the club and says "hey, Elvis." He played Elvis in one of the best biopics of Presley.

When I was a teen, I used to watch this like once a month (sometimes more) for about a year when this first came out on VHS. Love it!!! This movie gave me a crush on Teri Hatcher... who plays Lois Lane in the 90's tv-show "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman"... and also plays the love interest in a action comedy called "Brainsmasher... A Love Story" with Andrew "Dice" Clay... who is also the star in his first big movie called "The Adventures Of Ford Fairlane". Fun entertaining cheesy movies.

Amazing reaction as usual! And as for Detroit, I live in Canada in a city called Windsor. It's right across the water from the D, and between going there for church when I was a teenager and having to deal with the foolishness some of the brothers bring with them when they come here to party... I DEFINITELY understand your feelings about Detroit 🤣

I grew up in and around Detroit. Back in '67 or '68 when I was 8 or 9 I went to Windsor to be on the Bozo the Clown Show on CKLW. In '73 we moved to St. Clair Shores, a suburb of Detroit where I became friends with Pete who's father directed Bozo and Swingin' Time hosted by Robin Seymour which was another show on CKLW.

@@reservoirdude92 yes I do. We were on two episodes. The first one was Live in the morning. The second show was taped a short time later to be shown in the afternoon which we could watch when we got home. During the shows kids were picked to play games. At the end of the second show the director asked "who hasn't played any games." Myself, my friend at the time Myron and two other guys raised our hands. We were then picked to "help" Bozo close the show. Myron and I stood next to Bozo and the other two guys crouched down in front of him. Bozo had his hand on my shoulder and we all waved good bye to the people at home. Also, on the way to Windsor we went through the tunnel and on the way home we went on the bridge.

1. This movie is criminally underrated. I'm hoping to see other people do this one. CLASSIC!😎 2. There are tons of clever quips in this movie. The BEST is: Stallone, "Rambo is a pussy." 3. Brion James played Leon in the 1984 Blade Runner with Harrison Ford. 4. Clint Howard played the slinky guy.😎 5. Owen is played by Michael J. Polard. 5. GOOF: Tango would have been electrocuted dipped in the water chained up like that. 6. If you like Kurt Russell you must do "Escape From New York". 7. A great movie that has rapid fire one liners is "The Last Boy Scout" with Bruce Willis and Damon Wayens. Seriously cool death included😎

The main villain here is Jack Palance, who you may know from Batman 89. His raspy voice is pure menace, but he's also funny too. Check him out in City Slickers, with Billy Crystal. For a culmination of a lot of actors you've seen lately in a weird little comedy - Cops And Robertsons (Jack Palance, Chevy Chase, Dianne Wiest, Miko Hughes, and Robert Davi)

"Why just use your Plan A?" "Because it's a hell of a lot better than your Plan B, which you don't even have." Fun Fact Fact: The glasses Sylvester Stallone wears early in the film are his own, not props. He usually wears contact lenses in his films. The lenses show that he is very near-sighted in one eye, less so in the other. Plus, he has astigmatism. You're Fired Fact: Director Andrey Konchalovskiy was replaced toward the end of principal photography by Albert Magnoli. In his book of memoirs, Konchalovsky says that the reason he was fired was because he wanted to give the film a more serious tone than the producers wanted and, as such, his relationship with producer Jon Peters became untenable. Konchalovsky, however, has nothing but praise for Sylvester Stallone, who he states was a constant voice of reason on the set. Expanding Roles Fact: When Brion James was originally hired to play Requin, it was a very small role with only two lines. In an effort to give the character something that would make him stand out, James decided to speak in a horrible "cockney" accent. Sylvester Stallone loved it, and re-wrote the script to give Requin a much bigger role. The same thing happened with Face, played by Robert Z'Dar, who was originally not meant to appear after the opening scene but Sylvester Stallone and Andrey Konchalovskiy took a liking to Z'Dar and thought his appearance was so striking he deserved a larger role in the film.

One of my favorite Buddy Cop Action Comedy Films! However this movie had a lot of production problems as the film's director, Andrei Konchalovsky was fired from the project after 3 months into filming, as he wanted to make the script rewritten several times to make it more darker and serious, which they agree to do. Konchalovsky was let go and Albert Magnoli, director of Prince's Purple Rain was hired while stunt coordinator Peter MacDonald was hired to direct the action scenes. A lot of footage was filmed but cut from the movie can be found in the trailer: Tango pulling out a shotgun on a carjacker while reading the paper, Cash getting into a fight with the Asian suspect saying, "I hate you karate guys." Tango reveals that he had a girlfriend whom was killed in a bank robbery, and Tango almost getting into a fight with The Jaw in the prison yard , realizing it's not worth it. Stuart Baird, the film editor, saved the movie by using whatever footage was available to get the movie in theaters on time.

"His chin is strong." Robert Z'Dar. Bit actor in movies ranging from this to all the worst B-movies in the 1980s and and 90s. First making waves in the grindhouse classic "Maniac Cop," as the titular villain, this is probably the high water mark of his career. He had a genetic condition that made his chin grow into a lantern jaw like that. At first it made him look really handsome and he even worked as a chippendale dancer for a bit. Unfortunately it didn't stop at puberty, and it kept growing until he looked pretty deformed.

With regards to how they doctored the audio recordings...Back in the day we could do almost everything they can do today...we just did it analog. It wasn't as clean, but for the most part it got the job done. Released on December 22, 1989, _Tango & Cash_ was the very last action movie of the 80's. The main bad guy is Jack Palance, you probably recognize him from Tim Burton's _Batman_. His associate was James Hong who played Lo Pan in _Big Trouble In Little China_ Best Regards!

I remember seeing this movie in the theater in LA opening matinee and the opening scene where Stallone turns to his fellow officers and shooting the fuel tank, quips, 'Rambo is a p*say.' The line had a few light chuckles. But then, a second later, some dude loud as f*ck yells out, 'Booooooooooo!!' That got the biggest laugh than the movie ever did. Obviously, to this day, when I see that scene and Stallone drops that line, thirty plus years later, that's all I can hear us that dude in the back of the house expressing his displeasure of Sly's meta joke at John Rambo's expense. My only regret is not running that dude down in the lobby to shake his hand. I love this film btw, but I'm with dude. Don't be dissing first class black ops seals officer John J. Rambo. He served this country and we owe him a debt. 🤙

Laser sights were pretty bulky back in the 80's. It's why the military never used them usually. In Desert Storm, during 1990, just a year after this film, lots of work went into them and they got smaller really quick. Now they're very common, and are used by the Military at night, with the use of night vision equipment. They use an IR laser so you can point your rifle where you need to shoot, since you can't aim down sights or look through a red dot scope while wearing night vision. Laser sights are so small now, there are guide rod laser sights that you use in your pistol, that type of laser sight was used in the 4th Lethal Weapon film in 1998. The film Terminator also has one of the old bulky laser sights, it's on a 45 long slide Colt, and is the length of the whole pistol. It's pretty cool seeing the evolution of technology in films, in just a short time huge changes took place.

You should check out Christmas Chronicles with Kurt Russell from 2018. Still a great head of hair and there's several "Shut the @$&# ups" in it lol.

Even if they’re not big pieces to the plot, they’re important pieces to the plot.

You gotta promise me, please, if you're going to ever watch the "Blade Runner" films, do not skip the middle film like everybody does; like it doesn't exist. It goes "Blade Runner" , "Soldier" and then "Blade Runner 2049". "Soldier" has one of the best Kurt Russell performances of his whole career, and everybody forgets about it; it ain't been officially rejected yet, so it's still a "Blade Runner" movie.

"Those titties were key to the plot" @JL See your emotions aside your humor is also brilliant. Loved Russell my entire 50 year movie life, Stallone is always underrated and the lead Lady has always been beautiful. Glad you liked this underrated but mindless gem

I don't know if anybody mentioned on the comment thread, but Stallone said he spoke to Kurt Russell on the possibility of part 2 recently. We'll see
