I disagree. I feel combat patrols are a perfect entry point. The price is high, yes. But you also get a shitload of models in them. Orks combat patrol has well over 500 points in it. It's a banger. Supplement with some boyz, and a few trukkz and you got a decent army right out of the box. A very high investment for sure, but no an overwhelmingly expensive one if you are aware of how much this hobby costs in the first place. iunno. I feel 150 dollars for 500+ points is a decent deal at least in terms of GW Prices. They are very easy to list build off of.

I don’t see them bringing it back. I don’t think the combat patrols are bad as long as you want what’s in the box. Some patrols are way better than others, for example.

While I agree that as a base line prices for Warhammer are very expensive for what you get, this is a result of economies of scale. They are the most successful and popular miniature company and the only one that is known outside of the niche circle that we are in. Since 2015 - 7 (8) years ago the uk has been on a stead decline with inflation rising due to Brexit, Covid, Brexit again (This effects you even as an American because Gamesworkshop is a UK based company) , Ukrainian War, Liz Truss the 46 day prime minister and her disastrous economic policy. Considering all that's been going on financially and socially in the UK i think an Average 6% across the board price rise is actually the first time their price increase has been reasonable. There would be justification for it to be upwards of 8-9% based on the current state of the UKs economy. However in general i think due to the economies of scale Games Workshop operates in the baseline price for these kits is too high.

@@SpoonyBard88 are you being condescending? That's not necessary. We all know GW is a rapacious company that preys on people with addiction mentality. The molds have long since been paid for. The boxes cost more to make than the plastic models inside them. It's a self defeating business model. That's why GW is clutching so hard to thier IP. Eventually they won't even make models anymore. They also got a few models in different game systems. Inquisitor and such.

They were a pretty solid troop choice for guard armies, and there were a few fun models for the Inquisitor game too. One of my friends fielded an entirely Arbites imperial army using them and lots of conversions.

I feel they are going to wait and release the other boarding patrol boxes until after the 6% price increase. The Chaos box is a lot of value for $110 and I do not see Games Workshop releasing it at that price.

I'm still holding out hope for some good deals, in hopes that GW discounts the Boarding Patrol boxes more because they're part of a limited run. I'm also hoping that GW uses these boxes to get rid of some stock.

No, usually not. That would be the job of the local police. These guys pretty much are inquisitors on a more local level and most of the time taking on things with lower stakes. Like policing local nobles.

They're more like US marshals. No jurisdiction and authority wherever they go. They can deputize anyone anywhere and form a "posse" which I learned is the formal term.

Mix in the Enforcers from Necromunda since Essentially they would be more of the Imperial IRS/FBI as they will be there to enforce Imperial Law and probably protect the Imperiums property(basically closest thing I can think to this would be like a Federal Court house equalivent) on the planets they are on.

That’s actually a really fair conversion rate though - $210 AUS to USD right now is $145. Now, comparing conversion rate prices to UK prices is when you get super sad

@@DedMan516 yup, both of our nations pay about the same (in terms of buying power) for the combat patrols, at least under current rates. And with rates in the UK versus everywhere else, GW is definitely making me think if my wife ever wants to visit the UK I’m bringing an extra empty bag for the flight to smuggle home some goods at UK pricing.

Normally units with the fly, monster, vehicle,etc.. and units with certain heavy weapons or maybe it’s weapons with the blast rule? I found the document that is separate from the book which has all the rules for each faction: www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/qPJwZxeX8lH4HarK.pdf Either way, each faction has some exceptions to the rule, and I believe the document is downloadable from the warhammer community website for example, see below: Necrons are allowed to pick 1 unit of Ophydian Destroyers or 1 unit of scarab swarms. The scarabs will lose access to fly, but otherwise everything else functions the same. They shouldn’t have displayed the Triarch Praetorians on the boarding patrol box since they are definitely an illegal unit choice, however, for the boarding actions game, I think Lychguard with shields will be great as they can hunker down with their 4++ or +1 to their armor save. The HQ slot is 0-1. However, If a Necron player chooses an HQ, they can take a second HQ as long as it’s a Cryptek. (FYI 1 unit of Cryptothralls is allowed without using a slot If your patrol includes 1 Cryptek the same rule applies If you take at least one unit of Destroyers, you may take one and only one . Honestly, I know Cryptek rolls have fallen out of grace in the actual 40 K tabletop game for an unnecessary Nerf only applied to Crypteks, but I think they are much better in boarding. Actions since heavy weapons are generally restricted so that means no snipers and that means they will always prevent your cryptic from being shot at plus you have two models that go berserk when an enemy unit makes it within 6 inches of your cryptic which is pretty good since it’s considered a game of close quarter combat. Flayed Ones, gain a special rule called Lurking Horrors: Flayed Ones for the entire battle are -1 to hit. They also have a couple of banned cryptic arcana: I know that Atavindicator it’s definitely not allowed, and there was another which is either hyper material ablator or maybe it was the one that causes a minus one to hit when you target that one unit? I don’t have the list in front of me, but there were at least 3 Arkana that were banned. I noticed a pattern where GW is trying really hard with boarding actions to restrict any powers, psychic abilities, Cryptek Arkana, etc… which can generate mortal wounds. Psykers can still gain access to those spells. However, if it has the keyword which fire, casting target has been increased on average to around eight or nine. Since Necrons don’t need to roll dice for their Arkana, GW decided to simply take it off the menu.

This, Jay is super wrong about the GK combat patrol, since it features basically every infantry GK can have. Short of adding a vehicle, there is literally nothing else that could be added to it.

Both versions of the Arbites (1991 Rogue Trader Arbites and 1993 2nd Edition Arbites) do pre-date Necromunda Underhive of 1995. But the release of the first Arbites minis did debut alongside Confrontation, though still sold for mainline TT as Forces of the Imperium. Then again, Arbites long had mainline RT rules for the Arbites before Confrontation too, they were already part of the Ordo Malleus army list of Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness of 1988 long before, as well as the original creation table of Rogue Trader rulebook, 1987. They later on got rules for Necromunda Underhive when the game debuted.

Calling it a club is accurate enough, there is more to it, but in the end it's really just a special club
