badger stynylrez black primer, best I have used. Goes on smooth through the airbrush with no thinning needed.

for reference you would want as much as you can get. for the video I just took one to keep things moving but a front back and maybe a side or two would be very helpful.

I know exactly what you'r talking about, what I usually do is I take the detail, paint it black then paint it gold or silver or whatever. that way there is a tiny line of black instead of the base color underneath.

@@EonsOfBattle Interesting... I assume you mean when the surrounding color is NOT black? So you add a bit of black between the two? That actually sounds really cool, and would probably make the shade look deeper as well.

Overall it adds to the look and feel of the result. This model isn’t intended to “pop” like a freshly-suited brightly-colored Space Marine. He lives in a grittier world where light and shadow are more prominent, hence exaggerated. A black undercoat reinforces this darker, more careworn look by affecting the next color you paint. For a brighter mini that’s not so underworld-looking, use gray or white as a base. For mainly metallic minis (like Space Marines) a gloss paint works wonders. A silver or gold undercoat adds a cold (or warm) tone to the mini.

I don't know if that is true, they seem about the same, Army Painter/Vallejo/GamesWorkshop. Army painter paint does need lots of shaking to properly mix the paint and dries a little glossy, which I don't prefer.

That's why you go for alternative rules like One Page Rules, Starbreach or many others, since they're free and don't need to feed the machine to sell thousands of new models it can work with whatever you have and changes little

@@jherazob I wasn't aware those are widely accepted rules. I'll look into it! I haven't had the chance to play at my current LGS cuz of Covid, but my last one had a lot of those "That Guy" around with grey armies of top tier stuff XD. It really made the game super hard to keep up with as a person that plays with painted armies.

@@KuganeGaming Those are essentially different games when you get around to it, but OnePageRules in particular is made to be able to directly use your GW armies (not just all of the current ones, but also others like the always lamented Space Dwarves and others GW has abandoned) with far better rulesets, but the fact that they're free and OPR in particular is, well, One Page, you can get your group playing it in an afternoon. StarBreach and others are more involved, but usually they're a single bok/ruleset too, no need for a whole bunch of books just to start playing. Then as you mention Covid many of these have ways to play them solo if you want (either because you want to test an army/list/strategy, because you can't get together with the buddies for whatever reason, or because you just wanna), plus there's stuff like the games by Nordic Weasel which are designed to be played by yourself from the beginning. And i am forever grateful that the owner of my favorite FLGS has red-hot burning hatred for the That Guy types and has chased many off the store, so my local community is rather chill :D

@@jherazob That is really awesome. I will check them out and see if I can get my LGS involved once this pandemic is done. I actually really wanted a rule set that is stable, because GW really just wants to push sales, lol. Do the rules support armies like genestealer cults as well? Good job that your LGS chases those type of players off! My current LGS is also really chill and cares about play environment =], so I doubt they have that type of players.

@@KuganeGaming *Everything* in current 40K/Sigmar is on OPR, plus things that aren't like the dwarves I mentioned, inquisitorial retinues or space ratmen if you wanted sci-fi Skaven. Other games take different approaches, most of them tell you directly "use whatever minis you already have in any of these scales", I like too the approach of Starbreach, that instead of rigid "factions" chose a couple dozen sci-fi stereotypes you can fit pretty much any army you wish into: the usual marine types, normal army platoons, space smugglers, space monks with laser swords in both good and evil variety, demons and/or alien monsters, space cops, an army of bugs, a hostile AI, etc.
