40K Boards don't have to be squares. You measure from the centre and place your objectives. They can be any shape and size as long as they are larger than the minimum-size noted in the mission book ;)

If you play narrative then yes play on whatever. But matched play is set to 44"x60" rectangle.

@@davidwasilewski Why not tell GW? GW very explicitly made allowances for that in their rules by mandating only minimum-board sizes, not fixed board sizes. Arguably GW is the only wargaming company / 40K the only wargame I know that actually explicitly encourages / accounts for that in their rules. Pretty much very other wargame in existance, that would be a "houserule". With GW, you're within the perfectly 100% legal rules if you play on a round table with a 5' diameter or some such.

@@punk6119 It is not. Read the rules. It is 44" x 60" minimum. But anything larger in any shape is also legal for GT-pack missions in the tournament pack. That is why all the measurements htere are from the centre. There is no fixed required table shape/size for 40K tournament play in 9th and never has been.

The problem with banning stuff from tournaments isn't that you can't play them in tournaments, it's that these models aren't going to get updated rules ever again so will become completely unplayable or unreasonably balanced.

the Chaplain On Bike datasheet is still there. it shows a picture of the Primaris one but there's nothing on it that says he has to be the new model.

I personally loved the 8th edition codexes, simply because there were detailed descriptions for every unit in the codex I dunno how it was with the previous 6th and 7th edition codexes, but I really enjoyed those descriptions that made every unit a bit more lively Edit : well you mentioned this for the 5th edition codexes right after so guess we're on the same page

You can order the Royal Mail stamps from the US. When you fill out the address, just put the state abbreviation with the city name but DO NOT put a comma between them. That causes some sort of error on their end and you won't be able to checkout.

I really wish they'd go back to the 3rd edition Codex style. Thin book, softback, and focused on rules and just a tiny amount of lore.

If someone is really desiring lore, the novels offer a much better in depth view. I preferred the old codex style because it was easier to handle and find what you needed.

My Thousand Sons might be struggling with the 30k stuff cut off AND psychic no longer being mortal wounds. We don’t have anything that works for anti-vehicle as well as contemptor dreads. Our helbrute options aren’t as good. I am also sad the chaos drop pod got sent to legends, so we can’t do the shenanigans the loyalists can.

Moving stuff to legends is just a deathknell for the model. Randoms aren’t going to let you use them much past the 6 month mark as the game is already on a roll and the meta chase will mean the legends models can’t keep up

It's interesting you talking about how codices allow GW to have a faction spotlight/focus for a month or whatever to keep things fresh. But Infinity does that without needing codices. Models get released, the army builder app (basically your codex/army list for Infinity) gets updated etc. So it's definitely possible to do it without needing to publish physical codices.

For my Behemoth I start with black and work up to red. Makes them darker overall, but the extreme contrast keeps them fully red

Another stamp set you would've liked was a Star Wars set a few years ago. But yeah, Royal Mail do release pop culture sets every so often. I don't know about The Beatles though. I don't know if it's still a thing, but there used to be rules around who could appear on stamps, and it used to be that only dead people could - except for monarchs/heads of state. They did relax it a few years ago when Olympic gold medalists would be commemorated on stamps, but I don't know if that is the only exception.

Ah fancy collectible stamps are being released all the time, usually something related to Britain, such as I had some James Bond stamps purely by chance (I needed some stamps and that's all they had left). They sell all kinds of collectible sets now, I feel like more since they were privatised.

I like the books. Honestly, I buy books for the fluff. I love reading up on the lore and I appreciate what the rules say about the how a specific chapter thinks. Agreed about red paint. Red is so high up on the spectrum, it eats up all the shades, or else it turns pink. All my favourite red paints, even the cantrast/xpress color ones, are really best as highlight colours. Hard to do a whole monster in them without ending up with unshaded monochrome.

What is striking with Typhon is the strong contrast gradient. Just do Behemoth with cold color gradient in the same places.

I really like the dice mat, but I'll probably be give the deployment frames. 😢 acrylic tokens are nice, but youd probably need more and others than whats in the tin. Plus I can 3D print them. I think the dice mat would be my favourite.

I could actually see how the deployment zone markers could be helpful for 10th because several of the factions have been shown in the faction foci to have rules that are affected by the deployment zones throughout the entire game

I am realising how funny Imperium magazine is. For models it's obviously great but every issue teaches you... How to play 9th ed. It's still running in America; about 30 issues left, but 10th ed is just around the corner and while the tutorials are nice in a vacuum... it's really just wasted shelf space. Maybe in 11th ed they will start the edition with the next iteration of Conquest/Imperium.

The Chaos space marines lost more that the 30K, some of this stuff never got 30K rules. The decimator was good ranged attack for the Iron Warriors and the lore make it logical to have the old stuff. Also, many players use tournament rules for their games even if they do not play tournament.

Obviously you'd want to send your taxes in with the Slaves to Darkness stamp on it. My mother was kind of into stamp collecting, so I picked up a bit of it. There are special commemorative stamp issues all the time. If you really want a set of the Warhammer ones you should try to get a "first day cover".

Just wondering how quickly the new box set will sell out and be gone. If they follow the pattern of previous box sets, maybe 10 mins after going live? Not that I am concerned. Save for the new Terminators, none of the models interest me so that's one less customer competing for a set. Guess (hope) the Terminators get a separate release in the not too distant future.

I was not aware of the 40k stamp range! As it happens I need some stamps this afternoon to mail out my son's birthday thank you cards... Royal mail do loads of these special ranges these days, one reason to keep in mind why GW anniversary would have been chosen is it is a massive UK business success story - a new industry from the last 40 years completely dominated by a British company, and Inthe Brexit age there's a keenness to highlight such things. Ironically of course stupid stinky Brexit makes anything like that happening in the future much less likely 😢

i would argue that most players play by mostly tourny rules though.. really they just wanted to sell a lot of 30k stuff , what really sucks is people that bought say that last great tank a couple of months ago and now cannot use it as reliably

Hey Jay make the carapace the same kinda blueish black as your black templars, doing the highlights first slapchop style even add some brushstrokes to the carapace with light grey then put ya templar wash right over it. Go a lil harder on the magenta :) for sure then do dark reds to orangy red for the claws and stuff. Don't need to do pink to highlight red add orange lol or start from an unsaturated red to bright poppen red xD fuck pink man this is Warhammer grimdark destruction don't need no pink...
