I have EOE but for 6 years 4X Gastroenterologists said I just have a Candida infection and was put on Fluconazole 100mg with no effect after 12 14 days coarses. The cause was all spicy foods including pepper. I went on a bland "MEAT and POTATO'S western diet and beat EoE in 6 months.

Interesting, I have had it for many years but it doesn't causes any bad symptoms, only got diagnosed when having endoscopy for unrealted issue. Can I aks how you managed to find out that pepper (presumably black) and spicy food caused it? Did the rings/fibrosis also go away?

I feel like because it’s still fairly rare, but it’s becoming more common, they’re still overlooking it and there’s not much research out into it. Pretty annoying because I was just diagnosed with it. If you get it, really learn your body and pay attention to what you eat. Eventually you’ll find the triggers. I could barely swallow water sometimes but key for me was to wait out the pain and fear you feel in you esophagus and sip water to see if your okay to eat. Really sucks.

Hi, will you be able to feel better again after you treat the symptoms, or the narrow esophagus will stay the same?

Νικωνας Μερκουρης it’s been a year now since my diagnosis. It’s treated as an allergy. I just had another flare up a few weeks ago and really it depends on what you eat because your body reacts differently to different foods. Overall, I feel way better than what I did before treatment. I haven’t had any need for dilation 👍 so far so good. Though I do feel as though the steroid treatment and PPIs will be a lifelong commitment to use as treatment until a cure is found. Still sucks but, so much better than last year when I was choking on water. lol, that was overkill for my body.

Im glad you doing better! I got diagnosed with EoE along with Gerd stage 3 yesterday so I'm really curious about all this and it seems like an nightmare so far...

Νικωνας Μερκουρης I was only told I have mild gerd... I don’t take a PPI for it everyday. The EOE sucks man. You’ll have to see an allergist so they can tell you what foods to avoid. Other than that, life is good. Just take your meds and you’ll be okay. I’m good so far lol which btw, sometimes I still kinda eat what I want. I know I shouldn’t but... hey we all slip up here and there.

Using materials like this to help get me closer to a gastrointestinal certification for my specialty. We take biopsies to r/o EOE quite frequently when we biopsy the esophagus. Also GERD and Barrett's (like a biopsy cocktail!). Next time I process a sample for EOE, I should look up and see if the structures on the screen show the circles or any deformities mentioned. Also will help me when we do esophageal dilations since we have Savory and Mahoney tools. Thank you very much for this. Your lecture really brought everything together and I look forward to more lectures!

I think you are on to something. If I eat a plum from the grocery store I will have a great deal of pain in my esophagus. I can eat as many plums as I'd like from my friend's pesticide free tree with no pain whatsoever.

I went to an Asthma and Allergy MD about 6 weeks ago. They did an allergy test, and I am not allergic to any foods. The only allergy I have is to dust mites. My lungs sounded clear, but my Pulmonary Function Test was bad. So the doctor put me on Duoneb, oral Prednisone and Breo Ellipta. I was also on 10 day antibiotics, to which I felt a little better. But I am still coughing and producing a lot of mucus, and usually when or after I eat. I don't feel it's coming from the lungs, but from my throat. I have had this cough for over a year but I don't wheeze, just produce a lot of mucus. It's driving me crazy because I am still having this problem. I am not able to sleep lying down. Anyway, I am glad I came across your video because I am thinking I should see a GI doctor now. Maybe it is EOE. Thank you for the wonderful presentation.

Sounds like you may have GERD, you should try Apple Cider Vinegar and also perhap Betaine HCL in high doses with your protein based meals.

That doctor might simply see a good level of success with Budesonide in their practice. Might also depend on the severity or what research/studies your doctor is aware of. It is still a recommended treatment and might improve your symptoms. Maybe write the other ones down and present them to your doctor if you want to try those, too!

@joeuncoolio

I have it from food allergies. I can tell you the tongue burning or stinging can be a symptom of a food allergy. Sometimes when I eat one of my allergic foods, my mouth and tongue does sting. Once I discovered the allergy, it made sense. Something to consider.

@@Mxteozx honestly nothing's working. I've realized that if I eat a pound of fruit and some vegetables along with turkey, chicken, venison I get less reflux. On Tuesday they're putting a chip in my esophagus to measure the pH and then taking it out the next day but they want to try everything before they do the hiatal hernia surgery because it only lasts 10 years and I'm a young guy. In all honesty drink a lot of water but don't guzzle it down, eat a lot of fruit and vegetables and have a clean meat source. Consider taking up a hunting license to get your meat from there and grow your own vegetables. It's not easy whatsoever it's a very hard lifestyle change. I'm praying everyday that I don't get Barrets esophagitis or cancer.

Your esophagus will swole up depending on what you are allergic to I got scoped and diagnosed with it. I am allergic to milk so mine will become swollen or with puss pockets. Other things, stomach aches, throwing up, and pooping.
