I will be honored. we took this route because of your video.. I remember you saying not to take photila pass route for low powered bike and to take nurbula pass and road is like dirt type.. and boy it was exactly as u explained... Good Video Sir. I did this water crossing in 25 th September 2022 on my Solo. There were 2 bikers on 2 RE besides me from Hanle. One of the biker checked the water level first by crossing on foot. He said it is ok. When he took his RE 350 in water. Exactly in center there his bike started sinking. This was due to a sudden sand patch. His bikes rear view mirrors were the only 2 things visible above water. After a 2 hour high tension drama and with the help of 7 different riders and two locals the bike was taken out. 3 days it had been snowing prior to 25th September. Finally He had to stay 3 extra days at Hanley to get his bike started again. After watching this all the rest of riders took the longer route avoiding the water crossing. Mentioning here so that Riders must be careful in these extreme conditions. Regards❤.

Superb Dheeraj Bhai ❤ What a coincidence. I also reached Umlingla just three days after you reached there. I was there on solo trip in my Tata Punch on 11th September last year. And I almost followed the same route as you did. Umling La Pass Travel Guide 2024 | 5 Routes to Reach Map | Road Conditions, Permits | Dheeraj Sharma kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i7WRmbmVrtGlf2g.html It is 17000 feet at Nurbula, so unless you are very very well acclimatised then better not camp that high altitude.. Chisumle is around 15500 feet so after Hanle that can be better.. but make sure you are acclimatized

No permit needed at all to travel in Ladakh, just pay environment fee online

Most likely it will be closed due to snow, generally opens around April end, May but you may check at Hanle homestays by calling them.. all depends on how much snow..

I doubt that, better go from Punguk side taking a bit longer route or inquire at local homestay before taking it early in the season.

Is it possible to travel till Demchok village via Umling La from Hanle by car & then proceed towards Tso Moriri and make overnight stay in Tso Moriri if we start early in the morning & don't take that much breaks in between..... What would be the ideal timing to commence the journey from Hanle so that we can reach Tso Moriri by evening? Is it possible to visit Hanle,Umling La,Demchok village within the 2nd to 3rd week of October? of October

Well, dada, thoda tough rahega.. aapko kaafi early start karna hoga because aapko kam se kam 6 hrs chahiyes Umling La ki trip k liye round trip from Hanle to Umling La to Hanle but if you go to Demchok, then the road from Demchok to Loma via Dungti - Fukche is a bit rough which will eat time... and then in September 2023, the 20 kms before Tso Moriri was very bad.. considering both these roads, it can get tough, not impossible but very fast paced and hectic it can get with most time on road

Sahi kahaa aapne ki bahut bura laga wahaan par kudda dekh kar abhi se.. abhi to 2 saal hi hue hain puri tarah se Umling La ko open hue aur abhi se kudda chalu ho gaya hai.. hopefully logon ko akkal aaye aur hum thoda responsibly travel karna aur seekhein…
