“Heaven forbid, you get a heart attack or a stroke. It's only you in that hospital bed. It's not the people at work. It's not your daughter-in-law. It's not the people you go out to dinner with. It's you. You're a grown man. You're a grown woman. It doesn't matter what people think at this point and you don't owe anything to anybody. It's nobody's business what you order for lunch.”
Not many people tell it like it is better than Dr. Michael Klaper. As a revered member of the Plant-Strong retreat team, this nutritional Paul Revere always inspires with his infinite wisdom, caring spirit, and straightforward approach. It’s also this fervor that drives his quest to expose and awaken tomorrow’s young physicians to the power of a plant-based healing with his Moving Medicine Forward Initiative.
This candid interview is true-to-form as Dr. Klaper and Rip ask the audience to let go of their sacred cows and get off their ‘BUTS’ to make positive changes for long term health.
Life is made up of small changes, and the food we eat every day changes us from the inside out. When you switch to a whole food plant based diet, you have a self healing mechanism and the body gets itself back into balance. So, why not eat the cleanest fuel possible for your metabolic engine?
There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Every bite matters.

A million thanks for putting this information out there! I wish I would have found all of these wonderful doctors(Klapper Esselstyn, McDougall, Bernard, Greger, Popper, etc.) before enduring a year of chemo, surgery and radiation for HER2+ estrogen fed breast cancer! I thought I was eating "healthy" with tubs of Greek yogurt! I now feel that 90 percent of the items in grocery stores should have skull and crossbones labels! I don't know who showed up in my KZfaq feed first but I am so very grateful to you all! WFPB and loving every bite! Thank you!

I am sooooo excited about Plant based eating finally becoming a thing!! My husband was nearly dead when I met him at 48 and after slowly becoming a plant eater he now is a super healthy 71 yr old. People tell him all the time that they cant believe how old he is. Thanks for persevering with the knowledge about plant based eating.

I have been whole food plant-based for 4 years. My husband tried it, jumped right into it. I was so proud of him. He did the cooking everything. The problem was he has always had diarrhea issues with fiber. Eating this way gave him explosive diarrhea every single day. He loved the food and he is diabetic. But there's only so much medication you can take for the runs like that. He had to stop. He doesn't have good teeth so chewing isn't as thorough as it should've been maybe. We are at a loss. Keep doing what you are doing. I am 67 and can run rings around the younger people at work. I know it's the food. Just wish it would have worked for my hubby. Stay safe and be blessed

Dr Klaper explains things so logically and succinctly. I really appreciate his style of getting to the heart of the matter. Every word counts about how every bite counts. Rip, since you spoke of Wild Earth dog food, perhaps you might talk to them about their use of GMOs. If they can stop that, I would use them in a heart beat.

I've been WFPB since 2017 and while I initially lost 20 lbs within first two months, my weight creeped back up. After listening to your podcast with Robby Barbaro, I think I might be dealing with insulin resistance. I am now excluding avocado & nuts for 30 days and monitoring fat intake at Barbaro's recommendation per his book... My bloodwork shows negative for diabetes and is good in all areas except cholesterol. 🤞

Same with me. I lost 30 pounds the first few months, then it stopped. I learned from my sex, height, weight, and activity level, my daily caloric intake to maintain my weight is 1500 calories, and to lose more weight, I would have to go on 1200 calories a day which wasn't recommended. The only overt fat I eat is 1/4 cup of tahini in my weekly hummus. I don't eat any oils, sugars, processed foods, or even nuts other than the tahini.

@@savedbygrace1582 Pretty sure I was using nuts and avocado too much. They made me feel quickly satiated. Oatmeal, beans, lentils also accomplish this but with bloating and gas. After 2.5 years, I find I can tolerate oats, lentils and beans 1/4 cup at a time without feeling cramped and gassy. And it's best for me to eat them before noon. I eat lots of kale, spinach, arugula, fruits and other veg. Sometimes potatoes, but mostly for starch I choose quinoa and brown rice. Everyone says I look GREAT and healthy, and I feel good, sleep like a log, very few aches and pains, but I sure would like to lose 40lbs. I'm 61yrs, 5'4" and 190 lbs ...still ski, hike, bike, swim, and am not on any medications. I plan to remain Whole Food Plant Based especially for all the health benefits...but I am envious of all the thinner Plant Based Eaters.

You might want to try trading your oatmeal for potatoes or more salad greens. Oats are pretty high in fat.

I don't like to refer to this way of eating as "diet" but lifestyle or way of eating. Reason being is diet conjures images of restriction, deprivation, and is usually temporary since nobody can stay with it. Eating plant strong is anything but this. Just my thoughts.

I'm with you guys. However, many of the benefits of a plant based diet as sited by Dr Klaper are achieved on a carnivore diet, according to many of the promoters of that diet. I don't get it, but I thought I'd throw that out here.
