Am 91, widow with no kitchen help, have major coronary disease and leaky Aorta valve. After a life of American commercial foods along with being overweight at 200 lbs. Began your plant based program in August 2019 and 100% faithfully following Dr. Esselstyns 2009 book(NO OILS and nothing from a mother with a face). Have lost 30 lbs, feel great with more energy, got rid of angina bouts, - once I learned how to shop.

Your story is inspiring to me, I’m only 25, and majority of my family eats in the American commercial food style as well. I switched to the Whole Food Plant Based (No Oil) life style at the start of 2020, and I’ll never look back. My father has an enlarged heart, and my widowed grandmother has some food born illnesses as well, but I’m hoping that in time they might be open to hearing me out about this lifestyle.

John, this is wonderful. I'm so proud of you. You, like me, probably wish you had known about this way of eating when we were younger. Wishing you the best.

Love these ladies! One of my favorite videos of all time, is Jane's demonstration of diabetes. Everyone needs to see this clear, simplistic explanation! It was like a light bulb going off in my head and cleared up all the misinformation that is out there.

I just watched their sweet corn sauce recipe this morning and now this. You have ALL simplified things. I think that’s the most important thing. If it’s not easy, I won’t do it. I’m sitting here eating a bowl with spinach, brown rice, black beans, corn, salsa and hot sauce. A favorite. And, Rip, I recently found out my brother and sister-in-law went plant based which shocked me as they’ve never been too supportive of the way I eat. When I asked what made them decide to do it they said they had watched “this documentary called Game Changers”. Don’t know if you know but you should know what a big deal this is and the genius of Game Changers. It’s a palatable documentary that won’t turn people away and is presented in a way that just makes sense.

Thank you (Esselstyn family) for sharing all your tips and strategies for eating WFPB. Its easy to eat vegan junk food (theres more each day), however, you show how easy it is to open a can or your fridge and eat from there. I especially love that you do not always agree...gives perspective, makes for a fun podcast and (yay) you are a normal family :) From New Zealand.....you could do a camp here in Nelson NZ!

Thank you Emily Smith for the kind remarks. I have three senior daughters who are partially into the PB program after providing them with Dr. Esselstyn's book and the Dr. Campbell's China Study. They are in the initial adjustment stage and are trying. It is a hard sell after a life of "super delicious" processd foods and society's need for instant gratification.

Great way to start the season! Jane's friend is right.... you're making it "sexy", and I mean that in a marketing way, too. Meaning "it's cool" to talk about. I have a question! The ladies never really mention freezing things. What does your (plural-for all 3 of you) freezer look like on any given week re sauces, etc.?

Replace the nuts in Jan's sauces with beans or pureed cauliflower. My favorite breakfast is a whole roasted sweet potato (450F 70 min) and a huge pile of steamed green beans, zucchini, bok choi, and red peppers. I like to dry roast a diced eggplant naked to top my pasta marinara con kale (half rice linguini and half steamed spaghetti squash.)

You need a picture for every recipe of the final dish in every book. Very inspired otherwise. This may change the cost of the book, and the Time-to-Market". Don't worry about the substitutes, I can handle that: No cabbage, cilantro, cumin (these make me sick), and I substitute in whatever I have at home that I can stomach.
