In late 2020 we bought this 170 year old Mansion in South West France. The roof was in urgent need of repair, and the attic was full of buckets to catch the water. Now, with the help of our builders, Jason & Taylor Reeves (and TJ), it is being converted into a professional recording studio, with 700m of technical wiring extending to almost every room of this Neo-Classical Mansion (including the cellar), and 360 audio lines that all arrive in the patch bay of the mixing desk.
Also in the attic is a live room (which will double up as my yoga studio for yoga and wellness retreats), a KZfaq studio, several isolation booths for drums, vocals and other instruments, as well as a small self contained apartment with mezzanine bed, bathroom and kitchenette.

It is so sensible to start with the attic. As you work your way down from floor to floor the construction mess never has to be brought through the already finished rooms, smart!

Good morning Jenny, it is a wonderful space in the attic, it will be very grand when completed. Jason and team did a very good work, I also love the exposed beams as well as the light that comes pouring in. The sky-light was a brilliant idea, bravo to the roofers if it was part of their plan. I have noticed previously in different areas of France, some people have their homes just plain white painted outside and then the roof tiles look like a blend of chocolate brown, I think they are also very smart. We all have different likes and dislikes. We went to the Pharmacy yesterday, and driving back I looked at our house from the top road, we have painted that roof from dark brown to Heritage green, then I asked for it to be changed to a lighter shade as it felt like the roof was coming down on me, a horrible feeling. So I asked for the colour terracotta, but this shade turned out to be a sort of pink, I wanted that sort of orange colour, but, looking at the house, it looked rather smart I must say maybe not everyone else's colour but it works for me. As all else, the price of paints have just sky-rocketed, so we will also do our own painting and we will know the job has been done perfectly and the paints not watered down as some contractors do :( It was a pleasant video thank you for sharing your life with us, till next time. Kind regards.

It’s amazing how you have converted this space into a working studio for you to be able to work out of. I’m truly interested into what types of music you are going to produce. I really enjoy your inclusion of the floor plans so I can visualize the process and the size of the rooms. I’m sure you will make some amazing art here and it’s great that you are able to work from home. The sound board is amazing as well and looks like the control deck of a spaceship. I love all the natural light in the rooms and the windows allowing the performers and producers to be in sight of the control room. I really love all the open beams and can’t wait to see what colors you decide upon for the walls as you have a wide selection of swatches on the wall from deep blues to rich reds. I follow a number of château owners and enjoy their individual processes of restoration, but your home is truly unique I must say. I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to your future work, and meeting your family, I hope we can be good friends, your new fans ChuckandMax

A suggestion, you could build a plaster board wall and put the beautiful railing on top of that to make it the correct safety hieght. Cheers Lynda from New South Wales, Australia
@jennyschateaufarm
@jennyschateaufarm Жыл бұрын
Hi Linda! Thanks for your suggestion. Yes we are keeping the original railings for sure, but we’ll put the new wall just next to them so that you can still see them in their original position as you come up the stairs, but once you get to the top you won’t fall down again! Thank you so much for watching 💕🤗💕

Wow, just wow, that recording console was dragged up those narrow stairs? I would suggest you replace the stairs to the attic to eliminate any old house noise and to realign the stairs so they properly join up with the new floor level,
@jennyschateaufarm
@jennyschateaufarm Жыл бұрын
Hi Midnight! The console was custom made, but came in pieces. It was the first thing we assembled even before the new internal walls were put in. The stairs are original to 1851, so I think we will live with them a bit longer. It would simply not be possible to get that quality of wood anymore. Thank you for watching and for commenting 💕🤗💕

Hi George! My husband is a professional in the music industry. It was a long time ago since he did something just for fun. He plans to rent out the studio as a residential facility when it's all done and trimmed in, as well as use it for his own projects. Thanks for asking!
