Pankaj Tripathi is often considered one of the few actors in cinema with zero haters. Known as a method actor, he is widely recognized for his unconventional choices. He has received two National Awards: one for Best Supporting Actor in 'Mimi' and a Special Mention for 'Newton'. From 'Gangs of Wasseypur' to 'Mirzapur' to 'OMG 2,' Tripathi's flawless performances have earned him massive popularity and acclaim. Born in a village in Bihar's Gopalganj, he has carved a niche for himself in the Hindi film industry.
In the latest edition of ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash, he explains how he prepares for a role before hitting the sets. Tripathi also talks extensively about his upcoming film, 'Main Atal Hoon,' a movie based on the life and political journey of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. No fake, such an honest person. The candid expression about "spilling sambar on the shirt", speaks a lot about him as a person. He's a wonderful human being. But the more I watch him speak , I get the feeling that not all of his responses and thoughts are natural. He seems to come prepared and 'acts' his part of appearing down to earth. Having said that he still is miles ahead of ppl in his industry in every which way.

This interview is a MASTERPIECE . Whilst on one hand it reveals the hardwork & “Depth” behind what looks like effortless acting of Pankaj Ji, it also is a demo of how a good interviewer can open up & unleash an interviewee. One can assume that Smita ji does lots of hardwork behind scenes and has similar depth of character that she makes it look effortless when people open up to her.

There were 2 cuts in between where the topic couldn't get completed (one, where Pankaj ji is talking about his work in Kannada film & the other, where you are talking about your relative who was advisor with Richard Attenborough @ 1:03:30). Other than that, the podcast was fabulous!👍👏

Smita ji, Pankaj ji wanted to delve into some inner trenches of deep surreal thoughts - bringing in Natyashastra, the perpetual acting even after the "cut". You could have explored more by being an empathetic listener, that too after him declaring, "Aaj baat karne ki mood mein hoon". Missed opportunity. Also, I disagree that just because he is a soft speaker, one is not scared of his negative avatars. They add a layer of complexity and shrewdness rather that is more unsettling than a simple scare or hatred. He is more nuanced.

One of the BEST interviews I have ever heard in recent times. Pankaj Tripathi is beyond thanks. But I would like to thank Smita Prakash - she asks so intelligent questions, she draws out the interviewee from inside, never imposes her views on the interviewee. I suggest all the interviewers to learn from her. She is a seasoned journalist with vast experience. But it pains me when she sometimes participates in Arnab's shout-fest. Kudos!

So podcasts are the new promotion platforms !! Loved the interaction n the anecdots shared. Smita tell us all the inside stories of ur journey as a young journalist. The stories that u share during many of ur interviews with others makes me want to see u in the interviewees seat 😊 Pankajji truly is a good actor n human being. He still has the mitti ki sugandh of his village in him n he retains it which is commendable. Love to hear his Hindi. Most of our hindi film industry actors spk in English n frankly I wonder if they know hindi at all apart from mugging their dialogues.

ये बात बिलकुल ठीक है राम जी जब मुस्कुराते हैं तब वो प्रसन्नता का सूचक हैं और राम जी जब हंसते हैं तब वो व्ययंग का सूचक है। स्मित मुस्कान उनकी हृदय को खीच लेती है। श्री रामचरित मानस में जब सुग्रीव बड़ी बड़ी वैराग्य की बातें करने लगते हैं तब भगवान मुस्कुराते नही बल्कि हंस पड़ते हैं। उनकी हंसी व्ययंगात्म भाव में रहती है

I've observed that Tripathis are one of the most learned castes (sub-caste) in India. They are masters of their art/profession whatever it may be. And have immense depth in character. Kudos to all the Tripathis of mother India
