This is Part 4 of my series, Ozempic Done Right. If you have not listened to parts 1-3, you can find them in the further listening section below. In Part 4, I am going to be talking to you about the idea behind sustained weight loss. Many of you have been terrified into thinking GLP-1 Agonists are just deadly drugs, and while I do agree that they are being over utilized and overdosed, without a comprehensive plan in place, I disagree that they are dangerous. Listen in.

I’m down 120 pounds naturally, by way of habit, food and movement changes, however I’ve been stalled 6 full months and gained a PCOS, Fibroids, hypothyroidism, and T2D diagnosis within weeks of each other. I’m 3.5 weeks in on the starter dose of Mounjaro 2.5 MG and down 13 pounds. The food noise is the biggest and most beneficial thing I’ve ever experienced. I’m so blessed to live in a world where I can be chatter free for once in my 42 years.

Warning long story. So I am a recovering dieter. I was told I was fat at 12 I was not but those are the days as they are now too. That began the time where begin wacko diets: Cheerios for three times a day. Or starving myself. I stayed at about 130 lb until I was about 19. That’s when I enterednursing school. Also had a boyfriend that was creating tremendous amount of stress as well. I gained 30 pounds. And then continued the whack diets. I joined the military. Was told I was obese by the very obese colonel. I weighed one 40. I was always active as a child as a teenager. I mean I was on the dance team. I rode my bike 20 miles a day I was active. when I hit the working world the last thing I wanted to do exercise after being on my feet for 12 hours. Shortly before I joined military, my eating was truly disordered and I was bulimic. I continued this path through my 20s. I was the most heaviest I have ever been at 237 pounds at 28 yr old. Fast-forward to 1997 and then Phenfen came around. The disordered eaters prayer answered. Interestingly, enough, some of the same effects as GLP1, I wanted to eat healthy foods. And then then of course was immediately taken off the market as fast as they could. Oh, I know there were some significant or a significant side effect. I spent 41 years full-time nursing. The stress was outrageous. And now I’m in mid 60s and retired. And now stress is gone and now I find I have Hashimotos after original diagnosis of low thyroid when I was 32 or 33.. But to your answer about keeping the weight off for an extended period of time, usually no longer than two to maybe five years. I agree. What I agree with is that fast diets, and I have been on them all Jenny Craig, etc., even hospital dietitian sanctioned weight loss plans. You lose it fast and the minute you get back to a non healthy un -sustainable diet you gain it back. So this past two years, I have been changing my diet, my eating patterns are ordered. I am not binging. I am walking 3 mph for an hr 5-6 x per week. I am not anorexic. And the more I listen to people like Dr. Jason Fung and Dr Mark Hyman and you, I realize the diet industry has it all wrong. And they as well wish to keep us fat. I have lost 35 pounds in one year. I’m doing it slow. I’m doing sustainable and I’m eating 1300 to 1600 cal per day. With macros balanced. I am not starving myself. I am doing a 14 to 15 time restricted eating pattern. I am getting assistance from my functional physician and my acupuncturist with Hashimoto. And I hope to keep this weight off.and I think I have a better chance of success this way than any of the previous 50 years I have lived.

My Zepbound story I listen to all of your podcast since 2020, I don’t know how I found you, but I am blessed to be part of your community of listeners. I kept thinking of my Obese daughter that had gestational diabetes during pregnancy and my alcoholic son as I listen to your Ozempic series, I had never even heard of Ozempic before. I ask my daughter to listen and she said she won’t put any drug in her body’s to lose weight. Then you talked about you and how it has made a difference in your health. And I thought huh maybe I could be the guinea pig for my daughter. 2.5 of Zepbound, down 4 lbs the first week and that thing they talk about the food chatter… for the first time in my 62 years it was gone. 10 lbs down in one month, tried to stay on 2.5 but my Insurance will only cover one prescription of the 2.5 and now I have to teeter up, but they are out of 5mg. So missed one week of the shot and I still feel full and so far no food chatter. I’d like to go with a compound, but at this point I haven’t heard back from my Dr. praying that I can get something lined up here without teetering up. I am signed up your academy. Eagerly waiting for #2.

Happy belated birthday 🎉 I have loved what semiglutide 10 units has done for me! I am more limber, I am sleeping better, I am more balanced, my menopause symptoms are much less and I’m all around feeling 100% better. The cherry on top is I did loose 8 pounds and I’ve been taking 10 units since last October. I am so pleased with feeling NORMAL I’m researching other peptides to add to my protocol if they can help too!

I was finally approved for Wegovy .. through provider in March with PA just waiting for it to come in stock so glad I found you. Everything is so negative about these meds. I saw you on Dr. Hyman. I have to start at .25 since is the lowest I can get through my pcp and plan with doc is to stay there for as long as I want and can handle it .. Micro dose sounds great but compound not affordable. I am 50 also. I anxiously optimistic. Would have rather tried Zepbound but not covered under my insurance.

So glad you spent your bday in Big island! Happy belated Birthday! I split my time between Maui and BI. My naturopathic Dr. is in Big island and we have been working together for the last few years to improve my sleep, horribly painful periods and more. Anyway, we’ve made huge improvements but even with major changes and improvements I still have too much weight on me, (5’9” 255 lbs) possibly endometriosis and major chronic pain. I actually just sent her an email because we have an appointment coming up and I wanted to share with her the first video in your Ozempic series hoping to start a convo with her about micro dose of this as part of my protocol. Anyway, just wanted to say how much I appreciate you and all you are doing! You are making such an impression and major difference!!!

Im 1969 and just beginning Ozempic.I have lost 19 lbs in 3 months .I am going up on my dose from .5 to 2 mg since it has plateaued. Thank you for emphasizing how important strength training is! I will start that tomorrow and my diet has drastically changed for the better but I will make an effort to get plenty of protein which I basically do as well as only eating veggies and cherries and carrot juice I make myself and lots of water. Also the HRT is interesting and I will definitely ask my Dr about adding this after starting peri menopause recently.Knowledge is power!!

I'm in Melb. Morbidly obese BMI - menopause/hysterectomy (fibroids problem) weight, 103 kg, other medical issues like edema too, got Ozempic from local GP - as I was candidate for gastric sleeve. Got it from a local chemist last week. No problem. 141 dollars for the month. Chemist Warehouse sell it for 130 a month I believe but they were closed. They also are out of stock at many stores. Going to start next week. Really need some hope. As my hormones are out of whack and have massive inflammation.

Happy Birthday. You make sense, unfortunately some countries don’t allow access to peptides. I agree with you about the switch in the brain. I felt it too, but male doctors can’t relate to it and deny such a thing has happened to me. If I had known that peri menopause is a state of insulin resistance I would have cut out carbohydrates immediately. I’ve just recently learned that my gut has oestrogen receptors - but now I’m left wondering if my microbiome is, despite a high fibre diet, keto since 2019, and regular exercise is all compromised now that I’m menopausal? I’m getting tired of the struggle to feel well and stay well without some sort of support. I want my body back.

I am 74 always working out with weights we a personal trainer 3 days a week and walked the other days. Then I was diagnosed with RA and it turned my life upside down. The drs were throwing all kinds of crap at me including prednisone which caused a 20 lb weight gain and maid me very sick. I finally after 6 mths said no more of this BS big pharma crap. So my GP and R A drs dropped me nut personally didn't want to go back anymore. Other than that I ear well and my only exercise right now is rebounding a few times a day. I have bands and use them all the time to keep my strength but when I try to lift my weights only 10lbs compared to 25 lbs before it hurts the 10 lbs hurt my wrists so bands for now. My question is I would like to try the GPL-1 are you able to get me on it or tell me how to order it and how much because of my age. Please let me know if that is possible I am in Washington State not too fat away 😊 Happy Belated Birthday. 🎉🍨🥳🎂

Wouldn’t you stop using the insulin if you’re having hypos? The only reason I’m considering ozempic is so I can get off of the insulin and lose the 90 pounds I need to. I am fairly open minded but have a hard time believing you are a TC fan. He just doesn't seem very 'with it' or aware.

Such a disappointment to hear you celebrate Tucker Carlson. Sad. I thought I had found a new resource but no longer trust your opinion.

Even if you disagree politically, maybe you can still benefit medically. Let’s not cut off our noses to spite our faces.

I have lots of friends with diverse views. As an educator for 40 years, I appreciate leaving room for conversation and sharing. I just prefer to not mix medical resources and political preferences. Luckily we all have dozens of excellent resources online and so we can choose our preferences. No cancel culture intended.

It’s just a personal opinion. We also don’t need to agree with Dr Tyna politically to respect her medical knowledge.
