[Ep 14] 2018 Goldwing with Muth Turn Signal Mirrors!

I've been adding lighting to my 2018 Goldwing Tour DCT, but only the easy-to-install accessories. I paid for more complicated installs. But after I saw an episode on how to install the Muth turn-signal side mirrors on CruisemansGarage.com, I decided I could go beyond my comfort zone and install those turn-signal mirrors myself. After all, it only involved removing and disassembling the side mirrors and removing the front inner and middle cowls! How hard can THAT be? (gulp!).
I did it with this tutorial from Cruiseman's Garage:

The Cruiseman is a friend, but I produced this video because I was so happy about my accomplishment. I did the install by watching his tutorial and not once calling him to bail me out. I was not prompted to produce this video nor was I offered compensation in any form. I also paid for my turn signal side mirrors.

The camera used that's looking back at me on the motorcycle is the Insta360 ONE X. I've produced a tutorial of how I use this 360º camera to capture everything around me but only use an HD view of my choice in a traditional edit.

Nice video! I also subscribed within the last month to the cruiseman’s videos and I haven’t even taken possession of my new 2020 Honda Goldwing DCT Tiur candy argent red/black motorcycle yet, can’t hardly wait till I get my new bike on September 22, 2020😊 I really appreciate the videos

Welcome to the club! I went through three Harley’s and two Indians before I found my most perfect bike; a 2018 Tour DCT. That was 18k miles ago and I am now a DCT convert s well.

Looking good. Next you need to put the pathfinder and tail blazer lights on. I just put them on my 18 and they are awesome. Great product. Ride safe sir.

I have the Tail Blazer on my brake lights to make them flash, I have the headlight modulator, I have cowl lights with turn signals, I have the turn signal side mirrors, I have very powerful driving lights where the fog lights would go, and I have the caliper lights on the side forks of the front wheel. Something in there is named Pathfinder I believe. Now that I'm more comfortable with complicated installs, I'm planning on adding a Goldwing luggage rack and, under that, a third party brake light with turn signal indications in the near future. And, I'll add a trunk light while I'm at it and a trunk USB port. When I purchased the bike, I had the dealer put in CB radio, puddle lights, power port (we used call that a cigarette lighter!). I could never trade off this bike because the dealer will only offer the wholesale value of the bike and ignore the value of the add-ons.

Nice job Don. Did you have to connect the mirrors, fog lights, and side cowl lights all to the show chrome isolator?

Yes. I did the full job as taught by the Cruiseman with the exception that I used the ShowChrome Isolator Fuse Box instead of the extra cost harness. I used a short piece of wire coming out of each of two turn signal connectors of the Isolator Fuse Block and ran each one into a 5-port Wago connector (not seen the video. I temporarily used wire nuts until I could get the Wago connectors). Each 5-port Wago connecter had a wire going to a turn signal port of the Isolator Fuse Block, and two more ports of the Wago connector were used by a the Muth turn signal mirrors and the cowl turn signals that I have. Now, you can use that extra cost harness and be done connecting in a couple of minutes since it's plug 'n play, but it can only handle two sets of turn signals. That will work for most people. With the 5-port Wago connector I have two sets of turns signals connected and room for two more (the 5th port occupied by the wires going to the Insulator Fuse Block). This reply has been re-edited because I did a poor job of explaining this before.
