As I have said it has been about 30 yrs. since I've built a model but it is truly a passion of mine. I ordered a 64 cutlass through Amazon. I'm almost done. It is basically a test build and I truly appreciate your tips. TY very much. Next is the 65 Foose I have purchased that I intend to paint Aqua to go with the red decals. When I was young I had built 100s of lowrider models. It is truly a passion of mine. I need a good hobby so I am back at it. I aim to please not just myself but the viewing pleasure of others. TY very very much 4 your tips

Luka Cee Scale Auto Enthusiast did 1 article on Grafting Tires 86/87 I think it was. I hadn't Desired to Try it until about 2 years ago. I was doing Nostalgic old school Hot Rod 41 Plymouth. And Decided I need 2 wider Wide White walls than what came in the kit. Since I knew Grafting tires could be done successfully by Careful Work I tried it on first attempt failed but on second attempt Success came on Third repeated Success. RC (Radio Controlled) Car Guys Graft their all the time. So a Special Black Rubberized Super Glue/ CA Glue is Made Specifically for Grafting tires it hides the seam and is strong

I did that years ago with Tamiya 1/12 scale Formula 1 car models. I was trying to scratch build a Indy car from one of their McLaren kits and actually had to narrow the kits tires. I used black rubber cement or adhesive that I bought from an auto parts store. There's probably a better selection of adhesives now.

That's a great tyre. Have you tried gluing a piece of cotton fabric cut to fit the inside circumference of the tyre. With glue it will provide a supporting lattice much the same as fibre glassing. It may firm up the soft tyres as well.

One thing you might try is stuffing those tires with cotton batting or something that would add some body to them before you cut them. That might make cut easier to cut accurately. BTW, I've seen this before in 1:1 and I'll bet you have, too. The rear slicks on Top Fuel rails - when they spin them to warm them, the C-forces distort them.

FWIW, the chassis from the Revell ‘37 Ford kits happen to slip in nicely to the AMT ‘40 coupe kit. Then another wild idea….why not the nailhead Buick from the Revell ‘30 Model A kit? And the Hilborn setup too? With a couple of other changes, the hint of salt starts to come into the air….. Keep plugging like I do.

In your video about widening tires,( many months ago ), could you freeze the tires to make them stiffer while you work with them, and then let them warm up to room temperature and let them get pliable

I would think using a drill would work better than the Dremel ... a good drill should have more torque allowing a lower rpm and so the tire won’t expand as much during rotation..
@TheLukaCeeChannel

As I stated in the video. At a lower RPM. The Dremel would just stop when the knife started cutting into the tire. I think I got the needed results. But thanks for your input.

Hi collosal, I been making deep rims for years and I'm glad to help,, first you need some donar rims that have a little bit of depth then place it rim back down on a piece of 180 or220 sand paper and start sanding back and forth turning your grip every so often to keep it squared, pretty soon it will be close to sanding thru the rim face,,, you can then, with a sharp xacto carefully cut out the middle,,, what you have now is just a rim with no backing plate. Now you just have to lightly sand the outer bead of the rim that you want wider and glue the two pieces together,, you don't have to worry about the match up because the now outer rim is smaller where you cut it than the inner rim is on the outside where you matched the two pieces together,,if you did it right you cannot see the joint where the two pieces meet. This is a lot harder to explain than it is to do,, but the results are rims that are as deep as you want them to be,, trust me I have done this literally a hundred times,,it may take a little trial and error but I'm sure you can do it buddy,,,if not maybe I can send you some pictures or something,,let me know I'm glad to help

Around 1970 MPC had a coupon in one of their kits for a tire assortment. I sent away for it, (not free, about $1.50) and you got some wide 1/25 scale, and some larger tires that I assume were 1/16 scale. Those were perfect for the new tubbed Pro Stock look. I did a 68 Nova and by stretching the wheel openings and cutting the chassis, it looked like a set of 14x32 slicks. I had to put another small tire inside them (like a tube) to fit the 1/25 scale wheels, but after it was assembled, they looked great.

I've done something like this before. I used a long socket that fits snuggly inside the wheels I wanted to split and used a power drill to turn it. The drill has more torque and a slower speed (for more control). Depending on the tire composition, I used vinyl cement or "Shoo-Goo" to cement the tires together.

This is pretty much the first or second video of yours I've seen. And they seem to be quite informative. However, during this video I kept hearing little whimpers and whines in the background like you had a lady behind the scenes that was seemingly being pleasured. What's up with that. I wanted to learn something but I kept getting sidetracked by the whimpers and whines. Edit update : upon listening to the video again I feel I owe you an apology. It seems the whimpering and Whining must be comming from a baby. So I figure you must be babysitting while you work at the bench. Good on ya! And forgive my statement earlier.
